Seven home nations athletes have reached the last 16 stage of the men's sprint this morning.

England's Hamish Turnbull recorded the fourth quickest time with 9.639 and was 0.278 behind pace setter Leigh Hoffman of Australia.

Harry Ledingham-Horn and Joe Truman are also through for England, finishing sixth and eight respectively in qualifying.

Ioan Hepburn and Steffan Lloyd have qualified for Wales, while Scotland's Lyall Craig and Peter Mitchell also progressed.

The sprint races to reach the quarter-final have just begun.

It is crunch time in the ring at the Commonwealth Games.

We have 14 boxing finals coming up throughout the day, with seven of those in the early session, which is getting under way as we speak.

Eight home nations athletes - three each from England and Northern Ireland and two from Wales - are already guaranteed a silver but will hope to claim gold.

Home nations collide in three of the bouts with Kaci Rock (NI) taking on Sacha Hickey (ENG) in the women's 65kg.

Orlando Holley-Sotomi (WAL) meets Jon McConnell (NI) in the men's 75kg, while Connor Williams (WAL) and Isaac Okoh (ENG) will contest the 90kg final.

Elsewhere, Michaela Walsh (NI) will hope to bring home gold in the women's 57kg, as will England's Patris Mughalzai in the men's 65kg.

A short breather and a quick coffee to keep the energy levels up for the next instalment of this mega day of medals!

Speaking of which, the first of the 44 golds up for grabs today has been won...

It's 09:00 BST tomorrow morning for that bronze medal match for England, New Zealand will compete in the final at 13:00 on Sunday.

A little flurry at the end gives the score a slightly better look for England but it's New Zealand heading into the gold medal match.

It's a thoroughly deserved win for the Silver Ferns, who controlled this semi-final for the vast majority.

England will have to put their disappointment behind them quickly with a bronze medal game against Australia or Jamaica to come tomorrow morning.

The half-century is up for England as Liv Tchine finishes with ease but this game has long been over and Grace Nweke just keeps scoring.

She's up to 51 goals now with two and a half minutes remaining.

Excellent from Funmi Fadoju to come through and win the ball.

England get it down to nine points and lift the crowd at the Hydro but it is almost certainly too little, too late.

England have reduced the deficit slightly but it is still in double figures and with only seven minutes remaining, New Zealand look set to reach their first Commonwealth Games final since 2014.

This has been an impressive display from New Zealand.

They took control of this game early and while England threatened a fightback in the second quarter, the Silver Ferns saw that off and have pushed on in the second half.

Mila Reuelu-Buchanan with a smart interception for New Zealand and this game - if it wasn't already - is slipping away from England.

The Silver Ferns lead by 14 with Grace Nweke up to 44 goals.

Into the fourth and final quarter we go. England need a flawless last 15 minutes to have a chance here.

That's the end of the third quarter and England have got a mountain to climb.

They trail New Zealand by nine and it is going to take something very special to deny the Silver Ferns a place in the gold medal game.

With Grace Nweke seemingly scoring at will, England needed to make a change and, after a reshuffle, Jayda Pechova comes on at goalkeeper with captain Fran Williams going off.

Too many errors from England in this third quarter.

They're managing to slow New Zealand down but the Silver Ferns have the advantage, are happy to be patient and inevitably find the pass to Grace Nweke in the end.

Five minutes left in the third quarter and there are seven goals in it.

Team Wales captain Olivia Breen celebrated an "incredible week" with T38 long jump gold last night just days after winning T38 100m silver - and turning 30.

Breen earned her fifth Commonwealth Games medal and third gold with a 5.09m first round jump.

The height advantage that Grace Nweke has over the England defence means they're having to take risks to prevent the ball getting into her.

Once it does, she is able to bring in those high balls every time.

The lead is back up to nine and New Zealand seem to have this semi-final under control.
