It's been a rather strange opening half with Kerry off to a solid start, Mayo a little wasteful but growing into it before they were hit by David Clifford's goal as Kerry threatened to cut loose.

Credit to Mayo who have responded brilliantly with two-pointers by Jack Carney and Ryan O'Donoghue.

Mayo's high press has caused a few problems but so too has Kerry's at times.

You'd think Mayo would be happier at the break despite trailing by one, but this second half is set up brilliantly.

There is a brief scare for Kerry as David Clifford stays down following the final passage of play, but the Kingdom supporters breathe a sigh of relief as he gets back to his feet before the half-time hooter sounds.

Kerry take a slender one-point lead into the break after surrendering a seven-point advantage in a gripping opening 35 minutes.

It is perfectly poised at Croke Park with everything still to play for.

Joe O'Connor bursts powerfully through the middle and squeezes his effort between the posts to edge Kerry back in front.

It is a vital response from the Kingdom and could well prove to be the final score of a dramatic first half.
