Fourth official Sunny Singh Gill would not allow Joao Pedro onto the pitch, forcing Chelsea to play with 10 men for a brief period.

It had little impact on the outcome but was a curious moment.

Luton's supporters, meanwhile, have been superb and remained behind to applaud their team, who battled impressively and kept the scoreline to two goals despite the gulf in resources between the clubs.

It is job done for Chelsea, who next face Leeds United in the Carabao Cup next month.

Luton have been dogged and hung in there.

They certainly haven't disgraced themselves and they should take a great deal of pride with the way they have performed this evening.

And Joao Pedro very nearly gets his goal to make it 3-0 but Josh Keeley pounces on it.

Keeley keeps out Cole Palmer with his foot first and then is quick to react to Joao Pedro's rebound.
