    Como 1-0 Manchester United

    Glenn Hoddle
Former England and Tottenham manager on TNT Sports

[Manchester United] have enough experience there to see them through, but what they won't like is that they have conceded early. They have enough in them to get back into this game, they just have to keep a cool head.

It's a hell of a goal, it really is.

I watched him in the warm up taking free-kicks, I thought he had a pearl of a left foot, but he gets too much time and space. Why are the two centre backs so deep?

The ball is at the edge of the box, you got to be up against him and Harry Maguire is too deep, and [Paz] just opens his body up and whips it in that top corner.

Here we go again. Dalot should have scored and then we switch off and concede. Like night follows day this.

It's a lovely finish. Dalot just tried the exact same thing down the other end for United, and probably should have scored.

Remember what I was saying earlier about Nico Paz and those Messi comparisons.

    Scrap that.

He is superb. The next Messi (that is a joke).

    Dream moment for Como!

We're just three minutes in and the hosts lead with their first attack, Nico Paz finding space to curl an effort into the back of the net.

Nightmare for Manchester United, but they have plenty of time to turn things around.

  9. 'That's the beauty of football'published at 17:48 BST

    Como 0-0 Manchester United

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick speaking to TNT Sport before the game: "They [Como] are a really good team, and have a long spell of winning a lot of games. if we want to look like a really good team we have to do certain things, and to do that we have to build on the foundation of Sunday. Control the game, coming away from home to Europe you want to see the ball and try to control the game. We have a good team on the pitch tonight. A lot of experience, so I'm looking forward to seeing the boys play."

On Matthijs de Ligt's return from injury: "It's fantastic to have on Matthijs back. He has worked so hard for such a long period of time. He has been training for a good number of weeks now, and it's great to have him back on the pitch.

On Como and their possession based style: "That's the beauty of football. Different styles that you come up against every week and you have to adapt to it. [But] we trust our shape, we trust our coordination, and connections between us to solve the issues that they pose because they are a good team."

Spare a thought for the Manchester United fans who have come over to Italy to watch this tonight.

When the draw was made, it was the most attractive of the four European trips for Michael Carrick's side, so demand for tickets is high.

However, their seats - they won't be using them - are a long way from the pitch. There is no cover and they are getting soaked.

They can't see their team lose as well, can they?

This looks like a perfect storm. Utd not great at the moment, weak injured squad and slow, slow defence. Against a side on the up who will see this as a huge scalp. Genuinely can't see a Utd win.

  13. What is Fabregas' futurepublished at 17:46 BST

Como v Man Utd (17:45 BST)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport Manchester United reporter in Como

Cesc Fabregas has done an outstanding job at Como, taking the team from Serie B into the Champions League.

Given his background as a player with Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea, it is not surprising there have been links with him returning to the Premier League.

Como chief executive Mirwan Suwarso was relaxed about the situation when he was asked about Fabregas by Piers Morgan recently, saying if he ever wanted to leave, he should just say.

I am not sure it would be quite so easy but Fabregas is ambitious and it will be fascinating to see how his career unfolds.

Como v Man Utd (17:45 BST)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport Manchester United reporter in Como

I am looking forward to seeing Nico Paz play tonight.

The 22-year-old was born in Tenerife but plays for Argentina.

With Lionel Messi now retired from the international game, many pundits feel he will take over the playmaker role.

Como boss Cesc Fabregas stepped in at yesterday's press conference when Paz was asked about the prospect of taking over from Messi.

I don't think I would be encouraging the link either. Replacing one of the best players ever is a pretty thankless task, no matter how good you are.

  16. 'It's a very special night for the city'published at 17:40 BST

Como v Manchester United (17:45 BST)

    Champions League

Como manager Cesc Fabregas speaking to TNT before the game starts: "It's a very special night for the city, for the club and everyone around it. We have grown a lot in the last few years, and I think the players deserve to be living nights like this, but again, let's enjoy it. Great emotion for us, but at the end of the day it's a football match. It's 11 against 11 tonight we'll try to do our best."

On the playing style of the team: "Well, it's a long process. We are still in a growing process. We have a very very young team, we are trying to create a culture and style of play. It can take years you know, it's in the last two or three years that we have started to push and grow in a very rapid way.

"At the end of the day, it's about conviction, it's to send a very clear message and idea. The good thing is that the young players are not scared, and play with a bit of freedom. Over the years you when you get older you start to get a little bit more worried."

On Man Utd's back four not playing together enough: "Of course we will try to exploit what we think and where we can hurt them but at the same time I can say they have a team that can be very conservative with the ball, they have top quality players who can keep the ball very well today. I think they will try to keep the ball away from us, have a very stable game and for us, it's the opposite because we want to do the same thing. It will be a very entertaining game."

  17. Tynan Thompson's introduction to life at Man Utdpublished at 17:33 BST

Como v Man Utd (17:45 BST)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport Manchester United reporter in Como

I didn't see the UEFA Youth League game earlier but someone messaged me to say Tynan Thompson hadn't impressed.

It is interesting he is on the bench tonight for Manchester United.

I think that is for experience more than anything because I can't imagine Michael Carrick will call on the 18-year-old this evening.

Thompson arrived from Tottenham's academy in July in a deal that could cost United £8m.

Thompson got first-team minutes against Leeds in pre-season and clearly the club have a plan for him.

Two keepers, as well as a young lad (Thompson - he is top tbf) on the bench who has already played today in a Youth Game. We're looking knackered for options. Hopefully the younger lads can bring the passion and fight to the team that the first team regulars can't.
