We know that PSG will press ferociously and Gianluigi Donnarumma needs to be on point with his passing.

Johan Manzambi, 21 today, wins Villa the first corner of the game off ex-Wolves man Nelson Semedo.

And it's another chance. John McGinn swings the corner in, Pau Torres heads it back across and Ross Barkley nods over from 12 yards.

Desire Doue is released down the left-hand side but it goes out for a goal-kick.

Almost a heart-in-mouth moment as Gianluigi Donnarumma's pass out from the back to Marc Guehi is a little wobbly.

Villa captain John McGinn has the first shot of the game, a low roller from about 22 yards but it goes wide of Ederson's right-hand post.

Away we go in Manchester, Birmingham and across the continent.

And literally. Lots of fireworks and enough pyro for several rock concerts, as well as a video of the club's greatest moments

Spectacular and Manchester City fans in buoyant mood despite all the noise around the club.

Bit of an "us against the world" feel already.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has struggled at right-back this season so it will be interesting to see how he copes as an emergency left-back.

With Matteo Ruggeri out with a hamstring injury and Ian Maatsen sidelined with an ankle problem the 28-year-old is needed to fill the gap.

Internally, there is an acceptance he is still adapting to the coaching methods of Unai Emery after his summer move from West Ham.

Former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood will tonight play his first match in England for almost five years.

The forward has been selected in the starting XI for Fenerbahce against Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Champions League.

Greenwood’s last appearance in England was on 22 January 2022 in Manchester United’s 1-0 against West Ham.

He was arrested later that month following allegations surrounding material which was published online. Charges against the former England international, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped in February 2023.

The 25-year-old left Old Trafford in September 2023 after a six-month internal investigation into his conduct.

Greenwood initially signed for La Liga side Getafe on loan before joining Marseille in July 2024 for a deal worth up to £26.6m.

In July he moved to Fenerbahce in Turkey in July for around £32m.

Greenwood played for Marseille against Newcastle and Liverpool last season in the Champions League at Stade Velodrome.

Fireworks, a light show and a lengthy video on the big screens of the Etihad showing highlights and lowlights of Manchester City's history.

The message is clear.

Aston Villa are yet to win at home this season as Villa Park's North Stand is rebuilt.

Unai Emery admitted it had left his team handicapped as the club looks to try to bridge the financial gap to the bigger sides and raise the capacity over 50,000.

Defender Matty Cash admitted it was strange to play in but refused to offer it up as an excuse for their winless home start to the season.

Villa are starting a run of four home games in their next six - including next week's Champions League visit of Viking - so they have the chance to end talk of home struggles.

Vinicius Jr’s inclusion in Real Madrid’s starting XI tonight coincides with the Spanish Football Federation announcing that the Brazilian has been handed a four-match ban for his red card against Villarreal last weekend.

The forward will miss his side’s La Liga matches against Sevilla (18 October), Barcelona (25 October), Racing Santander (1 November) and Valencia (7 November).

The Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary committee suspended the winger for two matches for “behaving violently … (while) not being in a position to challenge for the ball” and a further two for “protests” to the officials.

Cameras get a first shot of Pep Guardiola in the stand - he's trying to be a bit inconspicuous by the looks, wearing a flat cap and sitting down.

He is with Manchester City hierarchy Khaldoon Al-Mubarak, Ferran Soriano and Hugo Viana.

On that note, there is set to be a display in the South Stand of the Etihad for this - City's first home game since the guilty verdict.

In the Pep Guardiola stand cards have been placed on seats for fans to hold up which will read 'CTID' - 'City Til I Die'.

The noise from opposition fans around Manchester City is the "same as before" they were found guilty of breaches of the Premier League's financial rules because "people don't love us winning," says City captain Ruben Dias.

Dias became the first City player to be put up to face the media since the news broke of the guilty verdicts nearly three weeks ago as part of their preparations for their home Champions League opener against reigning champions Paris St-Germain on Wednesday.

"Personally and I really feel like I speak for the whole group, we trust the club," he said.

"We're very calm and were very focused on enjoying football. We know the team we've got, we want to make the most out of it, we want to win, and that's the only thing in our mind.

"If there's more or less noise or whatever the reason the noise is, at the end of the day it's all the same, same as before, because people don't love us winning and we love to win."

I think Luis Enrique is the best manager in world football.

When you see his teams play, how he organises them and it doesn't matter if they win Ligue 1 or not. Or how they start it. It's all about winning their third Champions League in a row.

Even by resting players and saying they don't even need their best players in the team and they can still beat you.

Paris Saint-Germain fans are never shy of making noise and there is plenty coming from them as they are already packed into their section in a corner of Etihad Stadium.

And let's face it, their team has given them plenty to shout about with two successive Champions League triumphs.

I did hear Pep Guardiola was coming and that may be another show of unity.

Pep has spoken about how he backs the team and club, so if he is here the Manchester City fans will enjoy it.

There is set to be a familiar face in the crowd for Manchester City fans tonight with Pep Guardiola reportedly at the Etihad for the fixture against PSG.

It will mark the first time the Spaniard has returned to Etihad Stadium since he left the club at the end of last season after a decade as manager.

After City were found guilty of charges relating to breaches of the Premier League's financial regulations between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons - several of which Guardiola was in charge for - the 55-year-old turned to social media to back his former club's owners and leadership and said he will "always" be behind the club.

"I want every single Manchester City fan across the world to know I am here; more than ever," he posted on social media.

"I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran [Soriano], the players, staff, Enzo [Maresca] and you, our unique supporters.

"Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all."

You imagine he will get some reception if he's spotted on the big screen tonight.
