Still, a lead's a lead and if Rangers can hold their opponents to nil, they will be through.

Motherwell manager Alfred Johansson makes two changes to the side that lost 3-1 in the first leg to Freiburg.

Ewan Wilson and Seb Palmer-Houlden come in for Martin Moormann and Regan Charles-Cook.

Likewise, Freiburg boss Julian Schuster makes a double swap.

Manager Derek McInnes also discussed Rangers' transfer business with winger Kim Min-su's signing from Girona announced earlier today and speculation around Belgium midfielder Nicolas Raskin.

"It's been well-documented for a number of weeks he's someone we were interested in," McInne said of Kim.

"Hopefully he's got the opportunity to work with us in the group stages [of the Conference League] and hopefully we see him against Aberdeen on Sunday.

"There's been no bids for Nico but there's been a few conversations going on. We'll deal with that if it comes along but at the moment there's nothing to deal with other than continued speculation."

Rangers manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "I've always liked to play with two wingers and ideally two strikers but I do feel as a team we've needed that extra body in midfield.

"While we're still searching for better and bigger performances, we've got to win games of football. We're coming here to try and win the game and it's important that we go out and not try and hope that what we've got is enough.

"There's a game to take part in and hopefully the performance allows us to do that.

"I feel if we bring a level we're capable of we can get the job done. I'd liked to have come here with more of a lead but we've got a lead, we'll try and make it count for something and impose ourselves on the game."

It's been an eventful midweek so far for Scottish clubs with already a range of emotions for supporters.

Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday after a 4-0 aggregate lead turned into a 5-4 loss to LASK in Austria, with Martin O'Neill's side heading for the Europa League.

And on Wednesday, Hearts defied the odds by fighting back with 10 players to eventually beat Rapid Vienna on penalties after a 4-4 aggregate score. Wouter Vrancken's side are assured six more Conference League fixtures this season.

Nicolas Raskin did not travel with Rangers for this evening's match amid increased transfer interest in the Belgium international.

Fellow midfielder Cammy Devlin is also unavailable for Derek McInnes because of suspension.

McInnes still has plenty midfielders to choose from with three starting and three on the bench.

Defender Ben Godfrey, who has not played since 31 July, is listed among Rangers' substitutes.
