Simeone and Carrick are like chalk and cheese on the touchline.

Simeone might as well be Atleti's 12th man. You can barely keep him off the pitch, he's so animated.

Carrick is far more calm and keeps retreating to his bench.

Manchester United have had a lot of defending to do but they utilise the pace of Marcus Rashford for the first time and he is able to win a throw in level with the Atletico box.

This Atleti team is absolutely oozing with confidence. Nothing about this United team will phase them. And they're playing with that added incentive of knowing if they reach the final, it will be right here at the Metropolitano.

The travelling Lille supporters are making a good bit of noise in the corner of the Emirates.

Oh how they would like to see an upset here. They currently sit second in Ligue 1, behind Monaco.

Atletico Madrid have so much space when they attack as a ball is sent out wide to Giuliano Simeone, who finds Álex Baena on the edge of the box but his shot is blocked.

Galatasaray have barely had a touch here yet, with Barcelona in complete control.

The home fans are doing their best to make this as hostile as can be but it doesn't seem to be bothering this Barca side.

This is such a difficult atmosphere for Manchester United to play in as the home fans raise the noise every time one of their players touches the ball.

The visitors, quite rightly, are taking their time in possession now to try and slow things down.

Nicely worked by Arsenal around the penalty box but Declan Rice gets his feet in a tangle and Lille look to counter attack.

They don't get far before the ball is back in their defensive third. Almost an embarrassing moment for visiting goalkeeper Berke Ozer as he comes for the ball at full stretch but misses it and falls over. Arsenal can't take advantage on this occasion.

It's so easy from Atletico Madrid's point of view!

Back to front, one ball over the top, it's a wonderful ball and it splits the Manchester United defence.

A sidefoot shot with no real power somehow squirms under Heaven's body from four yards out.

Man Utd just need to compose themselves, gain some possession and gather some momentum.

This is going to be a very difficult 90 minutes for them.

Goodness me.

Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez exposed by a simple ball downfield and Manchester United's scambling defence can't keep the shot out when it eventually comes.

Alex Baena had so much space to run into.

That is truly terrible in every sense.

Wonder what Sir Jim Ratcliffe is thinking now.

Manchester United have conceded in the opening minute of a Champions League game for the first time since November 2002 against Basel.

Supporters hadn't even sat down properly and Atleti are already 1-0 in. They couldn't ask for a better start.

Man United made it so easy for them.

I think it is important that Arsenal start well. They were a little bit flat and jaded at the weekend at least for the first 45 minutes. They allowed Leeds United to settle into the game and get a hold on it. Arteta will be expecting a different start. More intensity, more energy and really get at this Lille team.

Arsenal dominating possession so far as you might expect.

But no early goal to discuss at the Emirates. Or early chance, for that matter.

Well, what a shock this could end up being!

The corner comes swinging into the mixer and there is Gianni Stensness up highest to head past Jonas Urbig.

It was the fastest goal in this year's competition at 71 seconds until Atletico Madrid scored against Manchester United.
