Does Rice ever get to rest? Arteta always says he has to let Rice play because Rice insists on it, well if that’s the case then Arteta has to let whole squad play since all players want to play! Rotate the squad more Arteta!

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on Final Score

Newcastle have had an inconsistent start, they've had no draws, they've just won or lost.

They've lost key players in the summer and they haven't been able to spend.

Newcastle fans can turn when results don't go their way. They've lacked the fight they had under Eddie Howe.

Big early opportunity for Fulham as Newcastle lose the ball in the middle of the park and the hosts get on the break.

Oscar Bobb squares the ball across from the right for Josh King arriving at the back post but the youngster can't quite get there.

Hull aren’t risking Mohamed Belloumi today because of an issue with his glute. If you were looking at this Hull squad and wondering where the magic would come from, Belloumi would probably be the one that your eyes are drawn to.

You need something special to unlock this Arsenal defence, so it feels like a big blow.

  9. Solid defence getting Gunners throughpublished at 14:57 GMT

    Arsenal v Hull (15:00 GMT)

    Sophie Brown
    BBC Sport

Arsenal may not be quite firing yet in attack – just 14 goals in their nine league games – but they look solid in defence, with their five goals conceded the fewest in the top flight.

They have the lowest xG conceded (7.24), have faced the fewest shots on target (24) and have had clean sheets in their past three league games.

The determination they showed at Anfield reflects the fact that they have won all six of the league matches in which they have taken the lead this season.

Mikel Arteta's sides have developed a habit of this over his years in the top flight, with the Spaniard behind only Sir Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho in this category.

  10. King earns England call uppublished at 14:54 GMT

    Fulham v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

A big week for Fulham's Josh King, who was called up to Thomas Tuchel's England squad this week for their upcoming Nations League matches against Spain and Croatia.

The Cottagers seem to be starting to find their feet under Alvaro Arbeloa and King has been at the forefront of that.

King has recorded more touches in the opposition box this season than any other player in the top flight (57) while of all players to have had 400+ touches this term, King has also had the highest share in the opposition box (13% - 57/438).

The 19-year-old has bagged two goals and assist this season too.

Tuchel said: "He is just a fantastic character. He gives us a bit of flexibility.

"We decided to nominate 22 outfield players for flexibility in training and he is the extra player in training, if you will.

"He is an exciting player, a versatile player."

    Sophie Brown
    BBC Sport

It was a sticky start to the season for Fulham but there are signs that they are settling into the more expansive style of play brought in by new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa.

After picking up just two points in their first six Premier League matches of the season, Fulham have now taken seven points from their past three.

They conceded 10 goals in those first six games, but just one in the past three.

Against Aston Villa last weekend, Fulham had almost double the number of touches in the opposition box and completed over 100 more passes than their opponents, and Arbeloa said after the match that "we are a team that want to play in the opposite half with the ball, creating chances."

Fulham are currently below Newcastle in the table but given the respective levels of form of the two sides. it would be no surprise to see that reversed on Saturday.

  12. 'This game feels big for Jaissle'published at 14:50 GMT

    Fulham v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

    Sutton's predictions

What are Newcastle? What type of team are they? I am not sure and that's why their manager, Matthias Jaissle, is getting a bit of stick from Magpies fans.

That's what is different with today's Premier League compared with my playing days, because we see it all the time now - even a new manager comes under pressure if they have a couple of bad results.

Newcastle have lost three of their past four league games and, in this day and age, that's enough for people to say the wheels are coming off.

That's why this game feels big for Jaissle. Win and the Magpies head into the international break on a positive note. Lose it, however, and stand by for a lot of moaning and grumbling from their fans over the next couple of weeks.

That's what I think will happen, too. Fulham's results have picked up and so have their performances. They are at home here, and I am expecting them to be too slick and too well organised for Newcastle.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1

    Arsenal v Hull (15:00 GMT)

    Sophie Brown
    BBC Sport

Arsenal's rare win at Anfield last weekend made it eight wins from their opening nine league matches of the season and sent a message of gritty intent to their Premier League rivals.

It even had football statisticians Opta speculating on the Gunners winning the title by a record margin, an accolade currently held by Manchester City, who finished 19 points clear in 2017-18.

While that may be a bit premature, Arsenal's total of 24 points after nine games is the most by a team at this stage of a Premier League season since Mikel Arteta's side also had 24 in 2022-23. But of course they did not win the title that year.

Only in 2004-05 and 2007-08 (both 25 points) have Arsenal ever had more at this stage of a Premier League campaign. They are two points better off after nine games of this campaign than last season, when they won the title.

  15. 'Jaissle has changed personnel but it's the same tactics'published at 14:44 GMT

    Fulham v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

    John Anderson
Former Newcastle defender on BBC Radio Newcastle

Steur came on against Everton the other night, was just positive, wanted to pass the ball forward, wanted to get it to the front players. Whether he and Nico Gonzalez can play together, I don’t know.

Jaissle is keeping to the same formula. What’s the old saying? If you keep doing the same thing, you keep getting the same result. Yes, he’s changed the personnel but it’s the same tactics. He says he wants to see our style. I don’t know what our style is. I don’t know what our style of play is at all.

Livramento, Miley and Fernandez-Pardo back on the bench is positive but it’s all about the starting eleven. The performance today has to be so much better than the two games against Everton. The win is the most important thing.

Boos and jeers from the fans and a stat pack that makes for grim reading - should Matthias Jaissle be sacked or given time to turn things around?

Newcastle have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their past 14 home league games - the longest run in their league history.

That team bus is turning into a welcome sight for the Magpies with their stats on the road slightly more encouraging than those at home.

  17. 'Spurs will be feeling sorry for themselves'published at 14:40 GMT

    FT: Leeds 1-0 Tottenham

    Michael Brown
Former Tottenham and Leeds midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Some colleagues in the gantry had different opinions, they thought it was a red I didn't think it was because he tried to play it with his right foot and I think that's why he stayed on the pitch.

They took a long time to look at it. Some people won't agree with it. Spurs will be feeling sorry for themselves because of how it would have changed the game.

Roberto De Zerbi now has a touch line ban for his next game. He wasn't happy with the official but overall they just didn't do enough to hurt Leeds.

They didn't have the quality at the top of the pitch.

  18. Newcastle struggling at both ends of pitchpublished at 14:39 GMT

    Fulham v Newcastle (15:00 GMT)

    Sophie Brown
    BBC Sport

After losing a division-high seventh home league match of 2026, it will perhaps be something of a relief for Newcastle to get back on the road.

Booed off after a dismal showing in defeat by Everton on Monday, which was capped by a red card for midfielder Jacob Ramsey, the Magpies need to address the problems that face them at both ends of the pitch.

Only Crystal Palace have faced more shots in the Premier League this season than Newcastle, whose average of 17.1 shots faced per game is currently their most in a season on record since 2003-04.

Meanwhile, only Aston Villa have had fewer shots on target than Newcastle's 29 shots. Only two of the Magpies' 17 shots against Everton were on target, with their percentage of shots on target sitting at 25.7% (29/113), the third lowest in the Premier League.

All of this points to a resigned-looking side that is lacking in confidence, which might help to explain why Newcastle have lost 16 of their past 18 league games when conceding first.

    Arsenal v Hull (15:00 GMT)

    .

Hull City are scrapping for points and hanging on in there in a lot of games.

I get a lot of my predictions wrong for their games because I always go for them to lose, but I am not going to do anything different for them this week because of who they are playing.

Arsenal are just monsters, aren't they? They always seem to find a way and do enough to win games, even when they don't play well, and they will grind another result out here if they have to.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-0
