Fulham have failed to score a first half goal in six of their last seven Premier League games, although they've only lost one of the previous six matches (W2 D3).

Meanwhile, Newcastle have failed to score in the first half of five consecutive Premier League games within a single season for the first time since October 2024.

  6. 'Very controversial' at Emiratespublished at 16:00 GMT

That is a very controversial VAR intervention at the Emirates.

A player who is in an offside position only becomes active when they commit an offside offence.

Kai Havertz must be "attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball" - otherwise the shirt pull by Nobel Mendy takes precedence. The foul comes before any offside offence.

Havertz did not commit an offside offence, and this should have been a spot-kick to Arsenal regardless of the offside.

We saw this a couple of seasons ago between Newcastle and Bournmouth. Fabian Schar was just offside but pulled back as he moved to run onto a free-kick delivery. A penalty was awarded after a VAR review.

  7. 'Arsenal have been wasteful'published at 15:57 GMT

Arsenal are not having this all their own way. They’ve certainly not dazzled in the final third, and have been wasteful at times. But Hull deserve a huge amount of credit for that. They’ve been compact, but not at the expense of an attacking threat. I think they’ve surprised a few with their desire to go forward. Perhaps Arsenal have been slightly taken aback by that approach too?

  8. 'It started getting a bit stale'published at 15:54 GMT

    HT: Fulham 0-0 Newcastle

    John Anderson
Former Newcastle defender on BBC Radio Newcastle

There hasn’t been any real clear-cut chances. The game is very stretched at both ends. They’re both getting on the ball at the back with no real pressure on the ball. The longer the half went on it started getting a bit stale but it’s been a bit better.

Sean Steur is neat and tidy. He gets on it and tries to get forward. He tries to make things happen. The changes Matthias Jaissle has made have made an impact but it’s a tightly balanced game.

Not the most exciting game in the world. Hull have probably had the best chances of the game.
