One more award to go - the men's Ballon d'Or.

Will it be Harry Kane? Will it be Lamine Yamal? Will it be Kylian Mbappe? Will there be more ads?

Spain

Women's Ballon d'Or winner, Alexia Putellas: "Thank you very much. It is a pleasure to be here, again. Thank you, France football.

"Thank you to the ones who thought I deserved this award. I don't know what to say, too many things! Congrats to all the nominees, congrats to all the winners.

"I want to start by saying thank you team-mates.

"I think anyone here could have fairly won this trophy and be giving this speech here right now.

"A great pleasure to play alongside each and every single one of you.

"Incredible experiences as a team, we overcome some difficulties, some injuries, some moments we weren't expecting as a team and a great pride for me as captain.

"All the boys and girls around the world - if you love football and if you want to play football, play football. It doesn't matter if you're a boy or if you're a girl.

"Doesn't matter where you come from. Don't listen if someone tells you, you can't do it. Believe in yourself."

When it comes to club and success, it's hard to ask much more of Alexia Putellas than captaining Barcelona to a continental quadruple in 2025-26, winning the Liga F, Cope de la Reina, Spanish Super Cup and Champions League.

She became Barcelona's joint-second top scorer of all time after scoring two goals in the Champions League semi-final in May, and earned the player of the tournament award in the process.

She equals her former team-mate Bonmati's record of three awards, having also been a key part of Spain's Nations League-winning side.

After what felt like endless advertisements, we are now about to finally find out the award winners...

Back in 2001, I got the phone call to tell me I was the Ballon d'Or winner.

A bit different to the glitz and glamour we have today. Gerard Houllier, bless his soul, rang me to tell me I had won it.

First up is the women's Ballon d'Or.

Up to present this award is the 2001 Ballon d'Or winner Michael Owen.

After spinning up in the air for a bit the guy in the suit left and some people came on to reveal the two Ballon d'Or awards while the piano kept playing.

Here we go.

This ceremony has massively overrun but we are almost at the main awards - the men's and women's Ballon d'Or.

But now for a performance. Some chap walking about on a piano with a moody rain screen behind him.

Men's striker of the year, Harry Kane: "Thank you everyone. First of all, thank you to Ballon d'Or and France football.

"An incredible year for me last year - something I am extremely proud of. The best season I have had without a doubt.

"To score this amount of goals is a total team effort. I have a great team around me who keep me humble and keep me grounded.

"My wife Kate, we're in this together. I know this wouldn't be possible without you."

Lots of shouts and cheers in support of Harry Kane from the seats in the auditorium.

Mexico

Women's striker of the year, Charlyn Corral: "A very good evening to you all.

"I am very happy to be here - the first Mexican to receive this prize and full of pride because my country, Mexico, is doing stuff very well in women's football.

"Being here in front of all of you fills me with pride and a great deal of satisfaction."

As a player, Kevin Keegan won pretty much everything.

He then became a legend as a coach. Not just talented, but with a vision and values.

As he famously said: "It is not about winning, but about playing a certain way."

Not sure I'd want to be known as the BOAT.
