    FT: Ipswich Town 2-4 Arsenal

    Joe Sheehan
Former Ipswich Town Women manager on BBC Radio Suffolk

It was an enjoyable game. Arsenal started brilliantly. Ipswich played with good courage, lots of good energy and it shows the fine margins.

Arsenal have got incredible players who can create something out of nothing, clearly they are an amazing team.

Ipswich finished with two goals and that helps going in to the weekend.

There are lots of positives to come out of the evening despite going out of the competition.

    Stunning!

What an absolutely brilliant strike by Dominik Szoboszlai! He takes one touch to control the ball some 25 yards from goal and then thumps an unstoppable effort into the back of the net.

That's the way to seal the win.

Unbelievable strike, it just drops down and you know Szoboszlai's got the audacity and the quality.

He's been brought on, he knows he can play in the big games. Spurs just don't clear it.

Steven Gerrard-like right into that top corner, goalkeeper stood no chance.

  6. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:52 BST 15 September

    Ipswich Town 2-4 Arsenal

Sixteen-year-old Max Dowman scores two and gets an assist as Arsenal, the Carabao Cup runners-up last season, ease past Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

The Gunners' other goals came from Noni Madueke and Mikel Merino to leave them 4-0 ahead, although Ipswich then got goals through Anis Mehmeti and Chuba Akpom.

    Chuba Akpom (Ipswich Town)

Chuba Akpom, who came through the Arsenal academy, gets a late goal for Ipswich Town, doing well to spin and shoot past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

It won't change the result, but does make it a bit more respectable.

    Great ball, absolutely sensational.

He gets lucky, falls onto the right foot, volleys it. Spurs know it is a huge chance just gone.

Savio charges through the Liverpool defence, he benefits from a fortunate bounce and has a clear sight of goal, but sends his effort wide of the far post.

    Should have done better.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:48 BST 15 September

    Ipswich Town 1-4 Arsenal

Ipswich's Marcelino Nunez, who scored a stunner from inside the centre circle against Leicester City in round two, is shown a yellow card for tripping 17-year-old defender Marli Salmon.

Into the final minute of normal time and Brentford are heading into the next round as things stand.

Reading have certainly made a game of this, however.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:46 BST 15 September

    Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham

The rain is coming down much heavier now as Tottenham push and Giorgi Mamardashvili makes an outstanding save to keep Spurs out!

Omar Marmoush breaks away from his marker just inside the box and hammers a shot at goal, it takes a deflection and Mamardashvili somehow reacts in a split second to adjust and get a hand to it. Brilliant.

    Ipswich Town 1-4 Arsenal

It's all a bit flat at Portman Road as Arsenal keep hold of the ball, knowing they have surely done enough to ease into the fourth round.

Ipswich have two Premier League wins this season after only getting four in the whole of the 2024-25 campaign - and will be looking to win at Everton on Saturday.

Gary O'Neil made 10 changes tonight, while Mikel Arteta made nine and Arsenal's squad is far stronger than Town's.

The Gunners are now able to give 18-year-old midfielder Ife Ibrahim a few minutes to impress.

Dominik Szoboszlai should really make it 3-1 and put this game to bed, but ends up prodding his shot straight at the goalkeeper.

Ten minutes to go and it is Liverpool pushing for the third at the moment. Cody Gakpo tries to open up an angle for a shot, can't find one so feeds Lewis Koumas just inside the box, but his shot is blocked.

Cesar Palacios almost seals it for Fulham, when he tries to take the ball around the goalkeeper, but can only shoot wide. West Ham still have hope, but need to score very soon.

  19. 'You wonder if Odegaard needs to be involved'published at 21:39 BST 15 September

    Ipswich Town 1-4 Arsenal

    Joe Sheehan
Former Ipswich Town Women manager on BBC Radio Suffolk

I just wonder why players like Martin Odegaard get game time in games like this when come May that is a player who may accumulate 65 odd games.

You wonder at 4-1 if this is a game he needs to be involved in.

  20. FULL-TIME - Peterborough win on penaltiespublished at 21:37 BST 15 September

Peterborough 3-3 Barnsley (7-6 on pens)

After 12 perfect penalties in the shootout, Luke Alker of Barnsley is the only one to fail from the spot. That gives Peterborough substitute Harrison Jones the chance to win it, and he keeps his nerve to send his side through.

Barnsley had been close to winning it in 90 minutes, only to concede an 88th-minute equaliser.
