Wow. A frantic few minutes that.

A huge blow to Scotland, losing not only their skipper, but their two-time Ballon d'Or nominee, Caroline Weir.

She was in fine form yesterday as we had a wee blether, which was dominated by chat of the World Cup rather than her exceptional personal accolade.

She will be absolutely heartbroken to have pulled up and be forced out of action.

Tonight will be the first time football supporters in Scotland have been able to drink in sight of the pitch at a professional game since 1981.

The Scottish FA say the initiative at the home of St Mirren is "another significant step forward" and the aim is to "explore how a managed approach to alcohol sales can contribute to a positive and safe matchday experience".

Cuthbert suffered a knee injury in Scotland's 6-0 home victory over Israel back in June and while the Chelsea captain is yet to feature at club level this term, she came off the bench in Pardubice on Friday night.

The 28-year-old replaced Kirsty Maclean for the final half hour.

"It's so good," Cuthbert told BBC Scotland after her return to action.

"It's been such a long summer. It's always great to come on and play for my country again - I'll never take it for granted when I get a serious injury.

"I'm just glad to get back on a football pitch. The relief, the amount of self-doubt that you have, the amount of stress - am I going to be back to the same level, how am I going to perform, is my knee going to be alright? All those things run through your head.

"It was a bad one. I was in crutches and a brace for the best part of a month. I lost a fair amount of muscle and over the summer I was trying to rebuild all of that again.

"It's been a really, really hard journey."

Could we see Cuthbert off the bench tonight?

Scotland head coach Melissa Andreatta tells BBC Scotland of her decision to include Christy Grimshaw in the team: "Christy brings experience, captain of her club, she knows what this team is all about and knows the way we want to play.

"I think with her aerial presence, her athleticism, she's going to add to the aggression and the physical battle on the midfield.

"It's about building on the aggression we saw in the second half and making sure we're ready for everything. They've got nothing to lose, they're going to go for it.

"We know they'll look to shoot earlier and more often but I know we're going to be ready to defend everything they throw at us and get our attacking game going and really unleash the weapons that we have to score more goals."

  6. How far are Scotland from 2027 Women's World Cup?published at 19:05 BST

    Scotland v Czech Republic (agg 2-0) (19:15)

Scotland are in a very favourable position after that 2-0 win in Pardubice on Friday night but nobody should be booking their plane tickets to Brazil just yet.

Should the Scots come through tonight's tie, they will face the winner of the tie between Sweden and Lithuania.

That one looks to be decided already though after Sweden ran out 5-0 winners in Saturday's game in Lithuania and are currently 6-0 up at half-time in the second leg.

So if Scotland get through tonight, they'll progress to round two of the play-offs where, as I just mentioned, they'll likely face Sweden.

After that, the seven best-ranked round two winners according to the 2026 Women’s European Qualifiers overall league rankings qualify directly to the Women's World Cup. The one remaining round two winner qualifies to the play-off tournament, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves...
