I think Southampton are playing a 4-1-4-1, maybe. A diamond formation.

James Ward-Prowse could be playing as the right-midfielder in a 4-2-3-1.

Boos from the home support every time Pompey get the ball.

How did Cyle Larin get in between the defenders there?

It wasn't a stop by the goalkeeper. Larin was trying to get round him and he tackled with his legs.

It's concerning. It shouldn't have been allowed.

Portsmouth win a free-kick midway inside the Saints half. It's floated in by Zak Swanson and there's a bit of a scramble for the ball before the assistant referee spots an offside.

A bit of a coming together between Pompey midfielder Ebou Adams and Saints full-back Ryan Manning already.

The derby is alive and well.

You always talk about the first goal being vital: 'as an away team, let's keep it tight, not give anything away in the first 10 or 15 minutes and grow into the game'.

You almost expect a comfortable home win but you just really don't know in terms of how it's going to pan out.

There is so much local pride in it that tactics might just go out of the window. It's how players react to the pressure on the day, on the pitch.

Saints will win by a mile. The investment is far greater and they fight the injustice of 2025/26.

    Terence, Portsmouth

Like most Pompey fans, I just want this day to be over. On the day we can do them. But on form, we are hopelessly inferior

    Roy, Farnham

One of three things happening here - 1) Saints fans posing as Pompey ones, 2) Pompey fans employing reverse psychology or... 3) Pompey fans very pessimistic

It's a tough one for Portsmouth, with where they are injury-wise.

It's a game where if you come out not losing, you've done really well. I am nervous.

Last season, you could feel in the build-up that it would be tough for both sides. This time, with the way things have gone, every Portsmouth player will have to be at their absolute best to get a result.

I'm very excited. The farce with Tonda Eckert has come to an end, so we can concentrate on the game. That's what we all want to focus on.

It's a very interesting day. Pompey are struggling a little bit and the international break might make a difference here.

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho says his side are "clear underdogs" in today's south coast derby.

"We are clearly the underdogs," he told BBC Radio Solent.

"Southampton have a squad that came down from the Premier League a couple of years ago and have strengthened it since and kept a lot of players over the summer.

"They have a very strong squad, very well-resourced - they are very heavy favourites, in my eyes."

Mousinho says his team know it will be a "really difficult job" but that with the hype of a derby, they will be "expected to raise our game".

"It's a good occasion to go and test ourselves against one of the best opposition in the league, have a good run at trying to disrupt their home form and see what we can do," he added.

  20. Embrace the derby, but play our game - Eckertpublished at 11:48 BST

    Southampton v Portsmouth (12:00 BST)

    Southampton

Southampton boss Tonda Eckert says his side must balance their focus between the occasion of the south coast derby and playing their own game.

"I think that you can't treat this game like a normal game, but at the same time what it has in common is that we need to make sure that we get our football on the pitch," Eckert told BBC Radio Solent.

"And that is exclusively down to us because I think we have shown this time and time again, especially at home, how good we can be and what we are capable of.

"That will be the challenge - to embrace all of the emotions that come with that.

"And they will give us something extra, definitely. And then at the same time, make sure that we play our football."
