Charlton's fine start to the season came to a heavy end at Stoke, and boss Nathan Jones said:

"I've gone in and seen him [the referee]. I'm bitterly disappointed with my own team's performance, but I'm as bitterly disappointed with another performance as well.

"There were so many things that went against us but straight after the penalty we went under for 20 minutes – and my teams don't normally do that.

"But we've done it twice here. That's the thing that hurts me and hurts my teams, us going under like that. They [Stoke] need me to come here because they get better results when I get back.

"We had a great start and wanted to silence the crowd, but we gave away an absolute gift. That can't happen. But, after the penalty, fair play to Stoke, they never looked back. After that gift of the penalty they were far better."

Stoke City

Stoke City boss Mark Robins told BBC Radio Stoke after an emphatic win:

"It was really important that we put in a good performance. We started really brightly and we created momentum.

"Then we got the penalty. He held onto him and we've all been warned that this was going to be the case and it would now be a penalty.

"Justin Devenny then took his goal well, George Hirst gets his first goal for the club from a really good passage of play. And Ethan Galbraith got a lovely goal too.

"We've got players who look really hungry for goals. And, If we can get that throughout the team, it really bodes well."

Blackburn Rovers

After the 2-1 derby defeat to Preston at lunchtime, Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"We lost two really soft goals, which was so unlike us. If you think we went to Lincoln just three days ago, and it felt like we faced 1,000 crosses and we headed them all out to become the first team in 30-odd games to stop them scoring a goal.

"I thought we'd be able to deal with what was coming today and yet the second goal in particular, is a really, really soft goal.

"So, yeah, we never really got to the level we needed to get to. Good luck to them, but for us, we have to find the level of consistency that's going to win football matches."

Preston North End

After the 2-1 derby win over Blackburn at lunchtime, Preston manager Paul Heckingbottom told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"I thought today it's the best we've been without the ball, barring probably the second half against Huddersfield when we had 10 men, and it's a huge, huge part of the game.

"We got in front, two really good goals from (Callum Lang's) point of view, where we wanted him, with deliveries into the box. The delivery from JT [Jordan Thompson] is good and Langie does attack the ball really well in the box. I think his two goals were an example of that.

"But for me, the best thing about today was that spirit and determination to see the game out, which is vital in this league."

My co-commentator here today - former Wales striker Iwan Roberts - says this was the worst Cardiff City have played this season.

For the fourth consecutive game they've conceded two goals, and they were wasteful in front of goal.

They drop into the bottom three in the table, and face Stoke City who have won their last two games at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night.

That first Championship win of the season can't come quick enough for the Bluebirds faithful.

Swansea have the chance to go three points clear at the top of the table when they welcome Wrexham this evening (20:00 BST).

Defeats for QPR and Charlton mean the Swans are the last unbeaten team standing, but the pack is hot on their heels.

Middlesbrough dug-deep to join them on 10 points courtesy of the 1-0 win at Loftus Road while West Brom are behind them on goal difference after seeing off Watford.

Millwall lurched from crisis week to a thumping 4-0 win while West Ham seem to have found their feet to join their rivals in the expanded play-off places, for now.

Burnley are bottom of the table after Preston's lunchtime win over Blackburn, coupled with their own dramatic defeat to Bristol City, who are also on 10 points from five games under Michael Skubala.

Cardiff have now suffered back-to-back defeats and are the only other winless side, along with the Clarets, after defeat at Portsmouth while Norwich got back to winning ways with a fine win at Sheffield United.

Honestly, what a division...

After a slow start, West Ham are now into the (expanded) play-off places.

Portsmouth win at Fratton Park for the first time this season.

Conor Shaughnessy opened the scoring for the Blues in the first half before Marko Milovanovic added to the lead in the second period.

Cardiff looked really dangerous and threatened the hosts on a number of occasions but failed to find the net as Pompey also collect a first clean sheet of the campaign.

Boro hold on to win away for the first time this season... just.

QPR's unbeaten start comes to an end, despite a grandstand fiinish.

Will Lankshear tucked home from close range before the break to settle it but Radek Vitek was called on to make a series of saves to keep the Hoops out while Harvey Vale hit the woodwork as the R's threw the kitchen sink at it late on.

West Brom bounce back to winning ways after failing to win their last two matches.

Jimmy-Jay Morgan's first-half strike was the difference as they move up to fifth in the Championship table.

Burnley's worst start to a Championship campaign in 24 years.

Nicky Hayen looks very uncomfortable at the reaction.

Aaron Ramsey thumped the hosts ahead just before the hour but City threw everything at the Clarets in the closing stages and Rob Dickie's header from one Rio Cardines corner, and Yu Hirakawa's injury-time winner from another made it three straight wins for the Robins.

Burnley remain winless and are now bottom of the table.

Hammers get the job done in the end.

Nice quiet finish at The Den.

Caleb Taylor's header from a corner before the break was all we had to talk about until 83 minutes.

Then Jack Bonham came out of his area and allowed Lyndon Dykes to slot his first Lions goal into the empty net.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men seconds later after Josh Sheehan's foul on Jenson Metcalfe sparked a melee which saw them both dismissed.

There was still time for Dykes to add his second after some more slack defending and Camiel Neghli put the gloss on it in stoppage time.
