Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom has made two changes to the Lilywhites XI which went down 3-1 at home to Bristol City on Tuesday.

Callum Lang and Jordan Storey come in with Jusef Erabi and Liam Lindsay dropping to the bench, where they are alongside new arrivals Johnny Kenny and Liam Gibbs.

Just the one enforced change for Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray after the goalless draw at Lincoln last time out.

Centre-back Tom Atcheson misses out through suspension after his second-half red card with Adam Forshaw coming in and Sean McLoughlin the only recognised central defender in the side as Mowbray contends with the absence of 10 first-teamers who are unavailable.

Promising striker Harvey Higgins - born in 2009 - makes a senior squad for the first time.

With Bolton and Burnley in different divisions, this was the only show in town last season and Blackburn claimed the local bragging rights, winning both encounters, and are now unbeaten in their past five games against the Lilywhites, collecting 11 points.

If they can make it four straight wins today it will be their best run against Preston in 107 years.

Tony Mowbray's men also have a fine record at Deepdale, leaving unbeaten on six straight occasions, earning 12 points, and last lost away to North End nearly seven years ago, when Alex Neil was in charge.

Paul Heckingbottom's side have endured a miserable start to the new campaign with four straight defeats and remain the only team yet to pick up a point.

Another defeat today would make it their worst start since 1929.

"We've put the squad together. Now we have to get to work and get the wins. That's the only way noise stops. You've got to start winning," Heckingbottom said.

Mark Robins makes two changes from his Stoke team which beat Norwich, as Justin Devenny comes in for a debut after signing from Crystal Palace.

Also in is Sam Gallagher as Million Manhoef and Bae Jun-ho miss out.

Charlton boss Nathan Jones makes four changes.

Ivan Mesik, Joe Rankin-Costello, Oliver Skipp and Timothy Ouma are in for Danny McNamara, Conor Coventry, Alan Mwamba and Millenic Alli.

Skipp arrived on loan from Leicester City and has completed a three-match ban.

Charlton take their flying start to the season up the M6 to face a Stoke City side having a much less exciting time so far.

The unbeaten Addicks are enjoying their best start to a second-tier season for 34 years - and their best in any division since 2011-12 when they went on to win League One.

Nathan Jones' matchday squad is also bolstered by the arrival of former Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp on loan from Leicester.

The Potters have lost dead-ball wizard Sorba Thomas to Hull City but did at least grind a way to victory against Norwich on deadline day.

Can they follow it up with another home win?

Team news is in at ProAmpac Stadium where James Ward-Prowse is in for his second full Southampton debut as one of four changes for the visitors.

His last full debut was made a week shy of his 17th birthday, as a starter in a League Cup tie at Crystal Palace in 2011.

Jack Stephens, Kuryu Matsuki and Welington also come in for Tonda Eckert's side, replacing Tom Fellows, Cameron Bragg, Nathan Wood and Ryan Manning from Tuesday night's game.

Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw have made four changes to their Lincoln side from their draw with Blackburn on Tuesday night.

Sonny Bradley, Ivan Varfolomeev, Andrei Coubis and Ben House come into the side for Callum Elder, Tom Bayliss, Dom Jefferies and former Portsmouth man Reeco Hackett-Fairchild.

After the first two games of the season, Lincoln City fans may have worried that they were in for a long and painful campaign.

But following back-to-back clean sheets with a win and draw in their last two, there is a cautious cause for optimism.

The Imps welcome Southampton to ProAmpac Stadium who come into this game off the back of a score draw away at Birmingham City on Tuesday night.

Tonda Eckert's side have now turned their points total into a positive number (3) having started the campaign on negative four.

They sit 18th in the standings after an opening day loss, two wins and a draw.

This will be the first league meeting between Lincoln and Southampton since March 1961, won 3-0 by the Saints in the second tier.

It felt like forever... but the transfer window has finally closed and we can fully focus on matters on the pitch.

Well, for another four months at least until the January window opens on New Year's Day.

There are already some fascinating stories unfolding across the English Football League, even at this early stage of the 2026-27 season.

We have picked out five things to look out for in this weekend's fixtures.

Four games in and Swansea, QPR and Charlton are the three remaining unbeaten teams in the Championship, just as we all predicted, right?

The Addicks have the chance to go back to the top of the pile this lunchtime as Nathan Jones heads back to former club Stoke, who picked up their first points of the season against Norwich in midweek.

Preston remain the only pointless side and will be desperate to get off the mark when they welcome local rivals Blackburn to Deepdale for another early kick-off while Lincoln host Southampton, who are seeking to climb the table after their -4 point start.

Burnley will aim to pick up their first win when Bristol City head to Turf Moor this afternoon while there's a tasty clash in west London as QPR welcome Middlesbrough.

Swansea will have to wait until 20:00 BST to step onto the field as they host Wrexham in a mouth-watering Welsh derby.
