On Ismeal Kabia being handed his debut, St Mirren boss Craig McLeish tells BBC Scotland: "It was a bit of a waiting game to get him involved with us. He's trained past couple of days.

"We're excited to throw him in and see how he gets on. It's great for us but also great for him. He's got a lot of football league experience, this is the next step for him. It's exciting for him to get thrown into a venue like this."

McLeish is wary of Rangers' threat despite their poor start to the season and says his team will continue to be "brave" in their approach.

"It's our trophy," he adds. "Someone's going to have to fight us to take it off of us."

On James Penrice being thrown in for his Rangers debut, manager Derek McInnes says: "It will give us a left-back, first and foremost. We don't have a left-footed defender available other than James.

"It was good we managed to be proactive to get him here. He was desperate to come, that needs to be said. He's where he wants to be, hopefully we see a big performance from him."

McInnes suggests Ryan Naderi might be better suited to playing as a lone striker and says his changes are also down to bringing freshness to his side.

He is also convinced his team will improve when more attacking options are brought in by the club.

Another 30 minutes is not what Motherwell wanted before Thursday's Conference League play-off first leg.

Much like the midweek performance in North Macedonia, it wasn't pretty but Hibs got the job done in the end.

The first-half goal from Owen Elding, which was really well worked by David Gray's side, proved enough to see the Easter Road club into the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports Cup.

A good display from Partick Thistle, who will probably feel unlucky not to have at least forced extra-time with some of the chances they had in the second half.
