It's not that he's not in form. Naderi is just more suited to that lone striker role.

I'm not saying Shankland can't play that, but Naderi has a bigger frame, he can run the channels, he's got energy.

Shankland is a penalty box striker, he's got great hold-up play but he sniffs out danger. He wants to play in between the goalposts.

I thought Shankland didn't start on Sunday with half a mind on this game, but Naderi got off the mark and played well, and has held the jersey because of that.

Lawrence Shankland is "too good not to score regularly" and is sure to have a "big influence" at Rangers whether or not he starts games, manager Derek McInnes insisted earlier this week.

Shankland has scored once in five outings since his move to Ibrox and the captain was a substitute on Sunday as Rangers beat St Mirren 5-1 in the League Cup for their first win of the season.

The 31-year-old Scotland striker hit 22 goals for Hearts last term under McInnes.

"When you have a player like Lawrence, who knows his way around the penalty box and how to score goals, I do not worry too much about it," said McInnes.

"Sometimes people can over emphasise these things. For me, it is a case of letting him play his natural game.

"The best strikers have that instinctive side to their game, where everything looks natural and seamless. I have no doubt he will do well here."

Derek McInnes has made just one change from the Rangers team that beat St Mirren 5-1 in the League Cup last 16 at the weekend.

Dan Neil replaces Nicolas Raskin in the starting line-up and captains the side, that's despite McInnes' comments earlier this week that the Belgium midfielder has been a "dream" to work with despite continued speculation over his Ibrox future.

New signing Kosta Nedeljkovic, who joined on loan from Aston Villa yesterday, could make his Rangers debut from the bench this evening, while club captain Lawrence Shankland is also among the substitutes.

The big debate about the Hearts team is who would start at left-back with Harry Milne still injured.

Jamie McCart has been given the slot by the looks of things, with Oisin McEntee coming back in at centre-back and McCart shifting out wide.

That allows Calvin Miller, who scored twice against Inverness on Sunday, to move to his natural wing berth.

Wouter Vrancken has made six changes in total. Claudio Braga, Pierre Landry Kabore, Jordi Altena, Josh McPake and Blair Spittal all return.

David Gray makes four changes from the Hibs side that squeaked by Partick Thistle at the weekend.

Jordan Obita comes into the back three in place of Jack Iredale, while first-choice right wing-back Felix Passlack is restored to the XI.

Miguel Chaiwa comes in to partner Josh Mulligan in midfield, while Josh Campbell will play just in front of them.

Iredale is named among the subs, alongside Joe Newell, Jamie McGrath and Kanayo Megwa.

Motherwell manager Alfred Johansson, unsurprisingly, makes six changes to the side that was dumped out of the League Cup by Championship Stenhousemuir at the weekend.

Goalkeeper Matty Connelly is out, along with full-back duo Luca Ross and Ewan Wilson, midfielders Olly Whyte and Mikey Booth, and attacker Willy Vogt.

Coming in are keeper Alex Paulsen, with regular starters Martin Moorman and Emmanuel Longelo restored to the starting XI.

Joe Hodge and Alex Lowry start in the middle of the park with Regan Charles-Cook also back in attack.

New signing Seb Palmer-Houlden is on the bench.
