    Somerset v Surrey 367-6

Two early wickets may have fallen at the other end but it is not going to change Dan Lawrence's approach.

Mind you, a tennis ball bouncer from Craig Overton is rather asking to be swiped to the boundary and that is what it gets.

  2. Delayed start at Old Traffordpublished at 11:01 BST 25 September

    Lancashire v Durham 355-5

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

There was quite a bit of rain about earlier but the majority of the covers have now been removed and play is set to start at 11:15am, with 92 overs scheduled for day two.

I am not sure how many of those overs we will see, though. The Met Office radar is predicting the chance of rain throughout much of the day, while rival Netweather has a much brighter outlook in its cricket grounds section.

Durham had a good day with the bat yesterday and have earned three bonus points so far. It is now their most successful season in terms of points. Their 248 from this season beats the 245.5 from their title-winning season of 2013.

If they win this one that would equal the 10 victories from 2013 as well, although that was a 16-match season compared to the 14 they play these days.

And if they remain unbeaten that would equal their run in 2009 when they retained the County Championship trophy. So there's still plenty to play for as far as the visitors are concerned.

Lancashire are trying to avoid finishing bottom for the first time and will no doubt be keeping an eye on events at Canterbury, where bottom side Gloucestershire are playing promotion hopefuls Kent.

  3. Yorkshire begin first inningspublished at 10:58 BST 25 September

    Notts 251 v Yorks 2-0

The roller trundles off and there's a hearty encouragement from the home supporters as Nottinghamshire take to the field.

They will be keen for early inroads after struggling to bowl sides out cheaply in recent games.

Adam Lyth gets off the mark in fortunate fashion with a single off a thick outside edge from Olly Stone.

The Notts pacer then slides a beaut past Will Luxton's defensive push forward.

There remains a real green twinge to this pitch and encouragement for the bowlers.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 10:58 BST 25 September

    Lomror b Gregory 10 (Somerset v Surrey 362-6)

A second wicket of the morning and a second bowling point for Somerset.

Mahipal Lomror drives Lewis Gregory through the covers for a boundary but the very next ball plays one into his own stumps and has to go.

Adam Thomas is the next man in.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 10:57 BST 25 September

    Singh c Naeem b Reece 9 (Worcs 214 & 16-1 v Derbys 88)

A wicket at New Road as Fateh Singh limply gives a catch to cover off left-armer Luis Reece.

First nightwatch gone - opener Jake Libby comes out at number three and edges Reece past first slip for four.

  6. 50 runs

for Sam Hainpublished at 10:56 BST 25 September

    Warks 148-4 v Leics 125

Sam Hain becomes the first batter in this match to reach a half-century, guiding Ben Green behind square on the off side for a boundary.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 10:54 BST 25 September

    Muyeye lbw Langridge 11 (Kent 97-3 v Glos 229)

Second wicket of the morning for JT Langridge.

A little bit of inswing, Tawanda Muyeye plays across the line and that is out.

Not the start Kent were wanting as they look to add some batting bonus points to their tally.

A superb yorker greets Daniel Bell-Drummond, but he just manages to dig it out.

  8. Postpublished at 10:53 BST 25 September

    Somerset v Surrey 358-5

A 12th boundary for Dan Lawrence.

He just stands still and belts a Craig Overton delivery to the backward-point fence.

The England batter has also hit five sixes.

He advances down the pitch to the next one but Overton meets him with a bouncer which he evades.

Lawrence is in attack mode here, although does he have any other setting?

Warwickshire may be cruising, but miracles do come along: my main concern as a Somerset fan is that Taunton looks like a pitch prepared for a draw... And that Kohler-Cadmore has made his way into the bowling table?!

    Worcs 214 & 14-0 v Derbys 88

Worcestershire may have two nightwatchers at the crease, but there has been no breakthrough yet by Derbyshire - perhaps a surprise given yesterday's rush of wickets.

Fateh Singh collects the first boundary of the day with a square drive off Muhammad Abbas.

    Confident shot.

  11. Postpublished at 10:51 BST 25 September

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 7-0

Heart in mouth time for Ricardo Vasconcelos as a beauty from Toby Roland-Jones moves away and finds the outside edge.

Relief for the Northants opener as it drops a fraction short of Tom Helm at first slip. It's a maiden from Ro-Jo.

Luke Procter then gets off the dreaded pair next over as he picks up a single off Ryan Higgins.

  12. 350 up for Surreypublished at 10:49 BST 25 September

    Somerset v Surrey 354-5

Mahipal Lomror edges past the slips for four before in the next over Dan Lawrence carves a ball away to the third-man boundary.

Up comes the Surrey 350 and a third batting point.

  13. Postpublished at 10:47 BST 25 September

    Kent 94-2 v Glos 229

One thing to mention is that Miles Hammond is again behind the stumps for Gloucestershire following the injury suffered by James Bracey while batting on day one.

No news yet of a replacement coming into the game, though.

Ben Compton ends JT Langridge's latest over by turning the ball through square leg for four runs.

  14. 50 partnershippublished at 10:44 BST 25 September

    Warks 137-4 v Leics 125

Sam Hain whips one off his hip for two runs to deep square leg, bringing up a 50 partnership with Bears captain Ed Barnard.

Nottinghamshire all out for 251published at 10:44 BST 25 September

    Stone c Luxton b Hill 6 (Notts 251 v Yorks)

    Well, that didn't last long.

It takes Yorkshire just 13 minutes to wrap up the Notts innings as George Hill finds the outside edge of Olly Stone's bat and Will Luxton does the rest in the slips.

Stone will now swap into his favoured role with much work to do along with the rest of the Notts attack.

    Over to you, Yorkshire...

  16. Postpublished at 10:44 BST 25 September

    Glamorgan 322-3 v Essex

Not a lot happening in the opening 15 minutes of this one.

The Essex bowlers are toiling away but there is very little assistance for them.

Glamorgan's Colin Ingram (27*) and Asa Tribe (136*) look untroubled so far.

  17. Latest from Old Traffordpublished at 10:44 BST 25 September

    Lancashire v Durham 355-5

Good news from Manchester where the umpires have taken a look and decided that play will be able to start at 11:15.

Ollie Robinson and Kasey Aldridge are the not out Durham batters on 34 and nine respectively.

Only four overs of play will be lost from the day's allocation.

  18. Postpublished at 10:42 BST 25 September

    Middx 255 v Northants 103 & 6-0

You'd forgive Northants openers Ricardo Vasconcelos and Luke Procter a few butterflies as they walk out to begin the second innings - exactly 24 hours after opening up their first knock.

A disastrous start left their promotion hopes hanging by a thread and they will need a huge effort with the bat today to stay in the hunt.

Unlike yesterday, the first two overs from Toby Roland-Jones and man of the moment Ryan Higgins are safely negotiated.

A fairly circumspect start by Warwickshire pair Sam Hain and Ed Barnard, who have added five runs in the first three overs of the day's play.

Leicestershire captain Ian Holland and fellow seamer Ben Green have opened up with the ball this morning - they were the two most consistent Foxes bowlers on day one.
