    This is good from Pakistan as they're making England work for their runs.

    England are being forced into a lull.

    Jordan Cox is batting deep in his crease, playing the ball very late with an average interception point of 1.58m from the stumps - the deepest of all batters so far today.

    In his short Test career so far, Cox's average interception point against pace bowlers is 1.52m. Among English batters in Tests in the last five years, since the start of 2022, Cox's interception point is the deepest in the crease of all batters.

    Despite a bit of surprise at seeing a spinner, Ali Usman is doing a very good job at holding up one end for the seamers.

    Just five runs have come from the past five overs. Pakistan have been very consistent to these two.

    It's not going to get any easier for Cox or Lawrence, yet. Muhammad Abbas returns, and they take a single each from another metronomic over.

    It looks quite bright at Lord's now but there are a few grey clouds in the distance. Personally, I need the rain to stay away - we moved into our new house yesterday and if there's any breaks, it's inevitable that I'm going to be called downstairs to help with unpacking.

    Just as I'm about to praise Pakistan for bowling back-to-back maidens, Khurram Shahzad oversteps and delivers no-ball number seven.

    They are keeping England's batters quiet, though.

    Ali Usman is a good bowler. So far, so good. That is what he did so well at Headingley in the first Test.

    Excellent start from the spinner. He got the ball to grip and spin. All he has to do is be consistent.

    Ali Usman gets one to turn past Lawrence's off stump, which might just put a few doubts in his mind about going after him too soon.

    Ali Usman's first ball is defended solidly by Dan Lawrence, but I wonder how long that will last.

    It feels like these two will want to cash in against the spin.

    Edged and dropped short - again!

    Surely Pakistan have got to do something about this and come forward a couple of steps in the slip cordon. It's risky, yes, but the ball hasn't carried all day so they don't stand a chance otherwise.

    Another stroke of luck for Jordan Cox.

    Khurram Shahzad bowls two no-balls - bringing Pakistan's overall tally up to six already - before straying onto the leg stump and Dan Lawrence clips nicely for three.

    A maiden from Mohammad Ali ends with Jordan Cox swishing outside the off stump and the ball trickles through to the keeper on the bounce.

    This is a good, intense battle for England's new-look middle order.

    He marches back to his fielding position, stomping his feet, and doesn't make eye contact with anyone.

    It was travelling, but it went straight to Shan Masood. You expect that to be caught.
