  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:32 BST 2 September

    McKinney (b Procter 4) Northamptonshire v Durham 14-1

Ben McKinney has his stumps horizontalled by Northants skipper Luke Procter.

From round the wicket, it's kept very low and done for McKinney's defensive lunge from on high.

    Middle and off pole gone.

  2. Bohannon droppedpublished at 12:30 BST 2 September

    Middx v Lancs

Bit of Lancs news coming through is that Josh Bohannon, who captained the Red Rose in their last two matches but is not in the XI here, is not injured.

No surprise that James Anderson comes in for Tom Aspinwall and takes the armband but it is a surprise that Harry Singh replaces the deposed Bohannon at No 3.

  3. Lunch at Northwoodpublished at 12:30 BST 2 September

    Middx v Lancs

No play this morning yet at Merchant Taylors' School but the good news is that we are 45 minutes away from some play.

After some persistent rain the skies look brighter and the mopping up is taking place in the middle while plates fill up inside.

Lunch is under way with play is due to start at 13:10. A reminder that Middx won the toss and elected to bat.

  4. 50 runs

50 up for Warwickshirepublished at 12:28 BST 2 September

    Hants v Warks 52-1

They're only scoring at around 2-and-a-half an over but Rob Yates and Dan Mousley are accumulating runs for Warwickshire.

If they can get to lunch no more than two down they'll be happy.

  5. rain stops play

Lunch at Canterburypublished at 12:27 BST 2 September

    Kent 88-2 v Worcestershire

Just as Kent are chugging along lovely towards lunch, the rain comes back.

But the home side will put their feet up feeling pretty good about their morning's work in very tough conditions first thing.

Ben Allison and Tom Taylor made the most of out the damp surroundings to have Kent 18-2 early doors but Sam Northeast (42) and Tawanda Muyeye (27) have put on 72 gutsy runs.

Muyeye should be out though - Adam Hose unable to hang on to a kitchen-sink drive at Matthew Waite - when he was on 10.

Kent will be happy though with that effort.

  6. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 12:22 BST 2 September

    Notts v Leics

Players are taking lunch with no play in the first session possible. The conditions seem to have taken a promising turn though with the ground staff having removed all but the hovercover.

Still no toss yet so no team or information about who is going to be strapping on pads and who is reaching for their bowling boots. All with be revealed shortly hopefully.

Sam Northeast is leading the recovery from losing those two early wickets for Kent.

He's starting to reap the reward for toughing it out from 18-2 and looks good as he nears a half-century.

He's just creamed Tom Taylors through the covers for a couple of fours.

    He goes to 42.

Tawanda Muyeye, dropped on 10, has 27 as this pair take their stand to 72.

  8. Postpublished at 12:18 BST 2 September

    Essex v Sussex 52-2

Charlie Tear slices a drive off Zaman Akhter wide of point for four before Daniel Hughes nudges Simon Harmer through mid-on for a couple to bring the fifty up for Sussex.

    Hughes onto 30.

  9. Postpublished at 12:13 BST 2 September

    Somerset v Glam 61-3

    Close from Craig Overton!

He lures Colin Ingram into driving a full ball and edges past third slip to the third man fence.

Ingram then guides a slightly shorter ball on a tighter line to the same boundary.

Good cricket in gloomy weather at Taunton.

  10. Postpublished at 12:08 BST 2 September

    Hants v Warks 41-1

Hampshire appeal for an LBW against Dan Mousley as the batter plays across the line but meanwhile bowler Eddie Jack catches the ball.

The shout for caught and bowled is also turned down.

  11. Northeast stands firmpublished at 12:07 BST 2 September

    Kent 69-2 v Worcestershire

Worcestershire want a third wicket but they're unsuccessful. Matthew Waite and all behind the stumps erupt as Sam Northeast plays across his front pad.

It thunds into his left leg but looks like it's sliding down.

Umpire's finger stayes in his warm (and crucially dry) pocket. Right call.

  12. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 12:06 BST 2 September

Surrey v Yorkshire - No play before Lunch

It's been a frustrating morning south of the river in London.

Despite having a toss earlier rain has prevented any play in the morning session.

  13. Steady start for the Bearspublished at 12:03 BST 2 September

    Hants v Warks 33-1

Despite losing Will Young cheaply it hasn't been a bad start for Warwickshire after they were put in at Southampton.

Rob Yates has survived a couple of keen appeals from Kyle Abbott but along with Dan Mousley he's keeping the scoreboard ticking.

It's a wet outfield. Ali Orr ends up on his backside after slipping while fielding in the deep.

  14. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 12:01 BST 2 September

    Northants v Durham (7-0)

Alex Lees and Ben McKinney have walked out in not the most glamorous of conditions.

The hint of drizzle never really left and it's got heavier in the 21 balls bowled at Wantage Road.

In that time, the Division Two leaders have got to 7 without loss.

    But now they're off again.

  16. Postpublished at 11:55 BST 2 September

    Michael Carberry
BBC commentator and Former England batter

Lamenting the state of red ball batting in county cricket...

"I coach guys who've had rookie deals and haven't quite made it. It's noticeable how little they know about their game. It's very much focussed on white ball and try to pongo it out of the ground."

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:54 BST 2 September

    Crane c Abell b Overton 27 (Somerset v Glam 49-3)

Two in seven balls for Somerset!

Mason Crane now out and the visitors in a spot of bother.

A full, wide tempting delivery from Craig Overton but Crane only goes at it half-heartedly. Almost like he was trying to pull out.

He jabbed at it and nicked it to second slip.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:51 BST 2 September

    Carlson c Nicholls b Pretorius 4 (Somerset v Glam 45-2)

A second wicket for Migael Pretorius as Kieran Carlson falls cheaply.

Another full delivery angled in towards off stump, brings Carlson forward and it straightens to take the edge to first slip.

  19. Boundary for Mousleypublished at 11:48 BST 2 September

    Hants v Warks 22-1

Shot of the morning so far as Dan Mousley clips Scott Currie round his legs through mid-wicket for Warwickshire's second boundary.

  20. 11:45 start at Wantage Roadpublished at 11:47 BST 2 September

    Northants v Durham

    Play is going to start....now-ish.

It's still pretty gloomy and we might not get much play without the rain turning up again.

    But let's stay positive.

Durham batting after winning the toss.

    85 overs in the day.
