  1. Close of play at Northampton

    Northants 380-7 v Glos

    The first hour of the day was Gloucestershire's - and so was the last hour.

    But the rest of the day undoubtedly belonged to Northamptonshire, with Saif Zaib and Nathan McSweeney both hitting hundreds in a big fourth-wicket partnership of 261.

    However, seamer Kristian Clarke - with a five-wicket haul on his Gloucestershire debut - has just about kept the visitors in contention.

    James Sales will resume in the morning on 42, with Harry Conway alongside him, unbeaten on two.

  2. Nottinghamshire v Somerset 268-7

    Archie Vaughan takes a single from Mohammad Ali and moves onto 49.

    Jack Leach will face up to the Pakistani paceman.

  3. Lancashire 13-1 v Kent 178

    A second boundary of the innings for both Lancashire and Keaton Jennings.

    Jennings swivels his hips and pulls it away off Keith Dudgeon - Jennings has all 13 of Lancashire's runs so far.

  4. Sussex 118-2 v Glamorgan 155

    Loud appeal by Timm van der Gugten - the latest of several by the paceman - as he hits Jack Leaning on the pad. It may have just been missing leg and the umpire says not out.

  5. Close of play at Scarborough

    Yorkshire 386-6 v Warwickshire

    An excellent day for Yorkshire at Scarborough. Once they got through the first hour after being put in they were dominant.

    Adam Lyth and Will Luxton put on 102 for the first wicket and Luxton played with growing confidence. He swept the spin of Manav Suthar for six to bring up his maiden first class century and was eventually out for 167.

    Warwickshire bowlers stuck to their tasks and Ethan Bamber in particular was unlucky to claim just one wicket.

    Yorkshire captain Jonny Bairstow will resume in the morning on 49 and will be very happy with the position his team are in.

    Gregory b Pennington 10 (Nottinghamshire v Somerset 267-7)

    What a ball this is from Dillon Pennington.

    It pitches a long way outside off stump and cuts back in, somewhat like an off break, to completely bamboozle Lewis Gregory.

    Gregory just stands there for about 10 seconds after the ball clatters into his stumps with a look of complete bemusement.

    That was a face which said: "What on Earth am I supposed to do about that?"

    Not much, Lewis. Not much.

  7. Lancashire 9-1 v Kent 178

    Much like the Kent first innings, this is pretty slow going with the bat in the early stages here for Lancashire.

    A run rate of just under two an over in these opening five overs.

    Northants 380-7 v Glos

    Only a couple of overs left, but we'll have a delay while Harry Conway is checked for concussion.

    The Northamptonshire tailender ducked into a short ball from Matt Taylor and took a whack on the helmet. Thankfully Conway looks to be unharmed - but the protocols are rightly observed anyway.

  9. Middlesex finishing the day strongly

    Middx 278-7 v Worcs

    Middlesex looked in a spot of bother on 220 for 7 but Leus du Plooy and Sebastian Morgan have added 62 valuable runs to put their team back in a strong position.

  10. Nottinghamshire v Somerset 266-6

    Archie Vaughan gets on top of a short one from Mohammad Ali and plays a lovely pull away to the mid-wicket boundary.

    Fully in control of the shot and that's four more.

    Vaughan is closing in on a first 50 of the season for Somerset in the County Championship.

    He's 47 not out.

  11. Second batting point for Essex

    Leics v Essex 300-3

    Matt Critchley takes advantage of a Joey Evison long-hop and carves it to the point boundary to bring up 300 for Essex, with a second bonus point now safely stowed away.

    Critchley has now moved into the 80s and, with another 10 overs to be bowled tonight, he'll have his eye on following Jordan Cox to a century.

    Aldridge lbw Aitchison 12 (Durham 264-7 v Derbys)

    Ben Aitchison has made big strides this season as a consistent wicket-taker for Derbyshire and there is another as he pins Kasey Aldridge in front - his fourth of the innings.

    Every Durham batter has reached double figure today, but none have been able to go on to a big score.

  13. Nottinghamshire v Somerset 261-6

    An aerial shot by Lewis Gregory, but a fine one as he lofts it back over the head of Brett Hutton and that races away for four.

  14. Northants 380-7 v Glos

    Three overs remaining tonight and, while Northamptonshire remain well placed, their prospects have been a little dented by those three quick wickets by Kristian Clarke.

    James Sales is still there on 42 and the home side would certainly like him to remain not out at stumps.

    Bringing in a night watcher doesn't work for Yorkshire as Ben Cliff edges his fifth ball to Sam Hain at slip to go without scoring.

    Olly Hannon Dalby claims his first wicket of the day and Warwickshire have their second bowling point.

  16. Nottinghamshire v Somerset 257-6

    Pick that one out.

    Archie Vaughan with a classy cover drive off Fergus O'Neill, smashing it for four as he pushes through the line in textbook style.

    Vaughan is onto 42*, his highest score of the first-class season so far for Somerset.

  18. 250 runs

    Batting point for Durham

    Durham 256-6 v Derbys

    They may have lost those two quick wickets but Durham earn their first batting point as Ben Raine clips a ball from Ben Aitchison to the mid-wicket boundary.

    Another follows in the next over as Kasey Aldridge edges between second and third slips - Abbas can't believe his luck but the ball didn't quite carry.

    Singh b Dudgeon 0 (Lancashire 4-1 v Kent 178)

    An early breakthrough for Kent, in somewhat bizarre fashion.

    Keith Dudgeon steams in and slips over as he follows through but the delivery is excellent, seemingly beating Harry Singh for pace.

    It clatters into the stumps and one of the bails ends up about six feet from the boundary rope.

    Luxton lbw Suthar 167 (Yorkshire 377-5 v Warwickshire)

    Will Luxton's brilliant innings is finally ended. He tries to sweep Suthar and misses to be lbw and give the India international his second Warwickshire wicket.

    Luxton more than doubled his career best and the shot with which he brought up his century will be remembered for some time to come at Scarborough.
