Have your say on England men this summer

Excellent news, Matthew, zooming ahead of me in the popularity stakes.

Anyway, enough weather talk. Back to things you've cut in half...

We've got the first sign of covers being rolled up.

  3. Further pitch inspection at 13:45 BSTpublished at 13:12 BST 20 August

The umpires have been out and about, poking and prodding with their umbrellas, and the news is... another pitch inspection at 13:45 if there is no further rain.

  4. Postpublished at 13:11 BST 20 August

If I'm half as popular as you, Sam, I'll be very happy indeed.

Alas, the news I'm about to bring you all from the pitch inspection will not help my cause...

  5. Postpublished at 13:09 BST 20 August

    We've all been there, Stuart.

If you've just joined and are wondering why on earth we're talking about cutting things in half, here is Josh Tongue to explain it for you.

And with that, it's time for me to step aside for a little while. Elizabeth Botcherby is here, she's far sharper than me so won't pass up any of the obvious gags I've missed I'm sure - hopefully she'll also be able to bring you news of some play, too!

It’s been a while since the last rain here but it’s pretty chilly for August. Not great drying weather. There are some dark clouds behind the pavilion too.

You're gonna need a bigger boat to compete with Big Al, people!

    (Seamless. Nailed it...)

Now this is a bigger boat! It was a tanker and we (not me personally, you understand) cut it in the middle and inserted the bit between the lines. Let's hope it floats when finished.

Sam - you're struggling today - where's the 'Gonna need a bigger boat' ref - take yourself to cow corner and consider what you've done.

  12. Pitch inspection at 13:00 BSTpublished at 12:45 BST 20 August

We have some actual news from Headingley!

An early lunch has been taken and there will be a pitch inspection at 13:00 BST, provided there is no further rain.

Sounds promising but we've been drawn in by such things before, only to end up disappointed.

  13. Postpublished at 12:41 BST 20 August

Must say I'm slightly surprised to hear from you, Mr Daniels... but good to have you with us!

You're absolutely right, Phil. I've missed out on a juicy half-volley there. Can only say that I'll endeavour to do better next time.

  17. 'I have to be extra accurate at my pace'published at 12:28 BST 20 August

More from Ollie Robinson, speaking to Sky Sports, on his focus on line and length bowling: "It’s something I pride myself on, just not really missing. All the time I’m tying the guys up. With the attack with got at the moment, the other guys can attack.

"Sometimes it does play into my hands that they come a little harder at me, so I have to be extra accurate otherwise I will get punished at my pace.

"One thing that has been good is Smudge [Jamie Smith] up to the stumps. It’s not something I’ve done a lot before but he’s helped pin guys back in the crease and helped me get more lbws than I would with my height. Back of length before, everything was going over.

"But with Smudge coming up, I can bowl it a little bit fuller and they can’t quite get out as much and it’s just another string to your bow."
