Kent 35-1 v Glos 229
Ben Compton pulls Che Simmons down to long leg but superb fielding by JT Langridge denies him a boundary. The left-hander has to settle for a couple and is 13 not out.
Final round of the 2026 County Championship; nine games
Warwickshire will be champions if they take 14 or more points against Leicestershire
A win or a draw with at least six batting/bowling bonus points would be enough
They have three already after bowling out Leicestershire for 125 - Ethan Bamber takes 4-42
Dan Lawrence hits unbeaten 105 for Surrey against second-placed Somerset
England's Emilio Gay makes 141 for Durham against Lancashire
Kent need a minimum of 15 pts to win promotion after Northants all out for 103 against Middlesex
Phil Cartwright, Matthew Cresswell, Steve Mather and Paul Grunill

Lawrence slog sweeps high into the Somerset stand for six. It’s been a really clever innings. It goes high over straight mid-wicket and he has his 100 before stumps.
Patterson-White c & b Coad 1 (Notts 229-7 v Yorkshire)
Two in quick succession! Huge blow for Nottinghamshire and their fading title hopes!
Ben Coad does wonderfully here though.
This is absolutely fired back to him by Liam Patterson-White.
Instinctively, and almost nonchalantly, Coad gets his hands out to his right for a brilliant caught and bowled.
Patterson-White can pile on the runs late in innings so he may feel that is an opportunity missed.
Somerset v Surrey 327-4
Dan Lawrence completes his sixth century of the season – no-one else even has five!
Notts' Joe Clarke is the top run-scorer in Division One but he only has four centuries this campaign.
Even more impressive is that Lawrence’s six centuries have come in only 16 innings – a fair number fewer than the others near the top of the list.
Lawrence smashed that away into the stands for a six to reach his century in style.
Hay c Bairstow b Hill 24 (Notts 228-6 v Yorkshire)
Big wicket for Yorkshire and George Hill finally gets his first wicket into his 16th over today!
It doesn't look like Mitch Hay needs to play at this one. He edges behind to Jonny Bairstow who makes a simple catch behind the stumps.
Liam Patterson-White is in at eight for Nottinghamshire under dimming light.
Somerset v Surrey 316-4
Ben Foakes tickles one down the leg side and that'll be four.
James Rew dived admirably but he wasn't close to reaching it.
Foakes on 64 and Dan Lawrence on 98 with one over to play today.
Jani c sub b A Patel 22 (Warks 86-4 v Leics 125)
Vansh Jani goes for the attacking option, trying to hit Ajaz Patel over the infield, but sends it straight up in the air and a comfortable catch is taken at mid-off.
A pivotal period of the game coming up, with 13.2 overs of the day to go.
Ed Barnard, the Warwickshire captain, is in next.
Worcs 214 v Derbys 71-7
Derbyshire are in freefall.
Matthew Waits bowls Brooke Guest for five and in the following over Tom Taylor has Amit Basra klbw for 8.
Captain Wayne Madsen is still there on 31 not out.
Kent 28-1 v Glos 229
Gloucestershire are convinced that Ben Compton has nicked a catch to the keeper off JT Langridge.
The bowler and slips go up in unison but Compton is unconcerned and goes for a wander towards square leg as the umpire declines the appeal.
Must have flicked the trousers.
Che Simmons is called up for his first bowl in a Gloucestershire shirt.
He starts with a wide one and Sam Northeast cuts smoothly for four.
Duke b Procter 28 (Middx 177-6 v Northants 103)
There's the breakthrough which Northamptonshire so desperately wanted.
It's a really good delivery from Luke Procter which beats Harry Duke all ends up.
The bails go flying. Really important Northamptonshire can end today with just a bit of momentum if they can.
A bit of shape away on this one. A beauty from the captain.
Middlx 103 v Northants 176-5
Northamptonshire need a breakthrough. They are yet to take a wicket in the final session at Lord's.
Harry Conway gets the first ball of his 13th over to angle in and it goes over the top and middle stump but flies down past the wicketkeeper for four byes.
Middlesex's first-innings leads rises to 73.
Somerset v Surrey 312-4
Lovely stroke, straight down the ground from Ben Foakes.
That was a textbook drive.
Three overs remaining at Taunton and the home side do look a little tired.
It's been a long day out there and the game has really got away from them in the evening session.
When Dom Sibley was out Surrey were only 174-4.
Agarwal c Bohannon b Noman 66 (Lancs v Durham 306-5)
Two wickets in successive overs for Noman Ali.
Mayank Agarwal tries to go over the top but is caught by Josh Bohannon stationed at cover.
He hit a six and six fours in his 162-ball innings.
Kent 20-1 v Glos 229
We wondered earlier whether James Bracey would be fit enough to keep wicket for Gloucestershire.
It's Miles Hammond, in fact, who is behind the stumps.
Matt Taylor's latest over is another tidy one, costing him just a single, and he has 0-6 from four so far.
Notts 227-5 v Yorkshire
Mitch Hay throws his hands at a wide one and gets away with it as the new ball flies over to third man for four to bring up the 50 partnership between Hay and Lyndon James.
The following ball is an absolute snorter from Ben Coad which cuts Hay in half but somehow misses his off stump.
Glamorgan 304-3 Essex
Luke Hemmings
BBC Sport Wales
A very welcome change in fortune for the home supporters. Glamorgan are seeking back-to-back wins to end their County Championship season and surpass 300 runs to collect their second batting bonus point of the day. They have looked good, despite Essex's struggles.
Warks 81-3 v Leics 125
The fourth-wicket stand between Warwickshire duo Sam Hain and Vansh Jani is up to 33 and the Bears trail by 44 runs.
A goodish-length ball by Ian Holland leaps off the surface and hits Jani on the glove.
Durham have lost their fourth wicket at Old Trafford with Colin Ackermann, on six, edging Noman Ali to the keeper. They are 302-4 in the 81st over against Lancashire.
Derbyshire have limped to 58-5 in the 23rd over against Worcestershire - who were all out for 214 - at New Road. Wayne Madsen is 30 not out.
Organ lbw b Price 11 (Hampshire 33-3 v Sussex 244)
Sussex have a bowling bonus point as Tom Price traps Felix Organ lbw.
Hampshire's first-innings batting woes appear like continuing - they've taken only four batting bonus points all season and the chances of any more here are looking slim.
Somerset v Surrey 303-4

Somerset’s hopes of a first County Championship are sinking with the sun into the west.
