This is turning out to be a very crucial spell by Gus Atkinson.

He's found that length so one of the batters needs to take him on and force him to change it.

  2. Ind 97-0published at 18 overs

Very tidy stuff from Gus Atkinson.

His fifth over goes for just one run - he has figures of 0-16 thus far.

After hitting boundaries in all but one of overs 5-16, India haven't struck one in the last two.

  3. Ind 96-0published at 17 overs

Big appeal from Adil Rashid and Jos Buttler.

Shubman Gill drops to knee to try and slog sweep and fails to make contact - impact appears to be outside the line and England don't review after India run a leg-bye.

Meanwhile WinViz still has the home side as firm favourites, even if the dial has swung a bit in India's favour.

Rohit and Shubman getting into their stride and the incomparable Virat Kohli to come. India could reset all of the records England just set. What a great game of cricket.

Apart from that boundary, that was a really good over from Atkinson. In the context of this game, it's been a really good spell from him.

  6. drinks break

    Ind 93-0published at 16 overs

More runs through the covers for Shubman Gill, driving the returning Gus Atkinson for four.

That's the one scoring shot of the over, as we head into drinks.

Cross batted strokes have done well today. Pulls and cuts have scored 138 runs from just 61 deliveries from seamers, bringing only one dismissal.

I don't think either of these two will be looking at the board, they'll just be watching the ball and judging it from there.

These Indian players have seen enough cricket to not be threatened by this total.

  10. Ind 89-0published at 15 overs

Shubman Gill sends the following delivery down to long-on for a single, and Rohit Sharma sees out Adil Rashid's last two balls without scoring.

England were 96-0 at this stage.

India are going along very nicely. A couple of world class players at the crease but it's still a tough task.

Shubman Gill is such a fine player, 51 off 53 balls.

50 for Shubman Gillpublished at 14.3 overs

Half-century up for the India captain!

Adil Rashid enters the attack at the Pavilion End and Shubman Gill drives his opening delivery through extra cover for four.

Two balls later he sends a similar shot out in the same direction - this one is cut-off on the rope by Will Jacks, but the two is enough to take Gill to 50.

  15. Ind 81-0published at 14 overs

    Driven nicely.

Shubman Gill unfurls a drive, powering Josh Tongue through the covers.

The fielder on the off side ropes barely tries to run-round, there was no stopping that.

  16. Ind 72-0published at 13 overs

Lovely shot from Shubman Gill, moving down the pitch and cracking Sam Curran through long-off for four.

Seven off the over, the required run-rate currently stands at 8.54 an over.

If India can take the spinners down, that's the key.

  19. Ind 65-0published at 12 overs

Shubman Gill finds more joy with the pull shot, sending Josh Tongue away for four at mid-wicket.

The England seamer ends the over by beating the bat of Rohit Sharma, with the opener trying a big waft into the off side.
