A nasty delivery from Jofra Archer.

    WICKETpublished at 69.2 overs

    Saud c Gay b Archer 29 (Pak 306-6)

Jofra Archer bounces Saud Shakeel and the Pakistan batter gets caught between ducking and playing at it.

In the end, turning his head, he spoons the ball up to Emilo Gay under the helmet in a close-catching position off his gloves on the handle of the bat.

A brutish bumper from Archer gets the reward.

  3. Pak 306-5published at 69 overs

Gus Atkinson switches to the City End as the afternoon sunshine gives Edgbaston's green sward a golden tinge.

Atkinson, too, reverts to short-pitched bowling.

Ghazi Ghori opens the face to one a little fuller towards the end of the over and guides it wide of the cordon for four.

This is a good battle. I like what I'm seeing from Saud Shakeel, he's trying to survive clearly. Obviously he doesn't want to take Jofra Archer on, and Jofra Archer is not going to relent.

  5. Pak 302-5published at 68 overs

Jofra Archer with the first over after the break and his third delivery is a bouncer to Ghazi Ghori.

There's a lack of menace in the delivery though, and the Pakistan batter pulls it over the diving Harry Brook at leg gully for four.

Saud Shakeel prefers to take evasive action when he gets a bumper from Archer.

Suitably replenished after the tea interval, England's players are strolling back out on to the field swiftly followed by Ghazi Ghori and Saud Shakeel.

I guess it's just normal Test match work isn't it? They've been blowing Pakistan away inside 40 overs on a regular basis. This is the first time the bowling attack and the captain have been challenged slightly.

Pakistan have battled hard today, but England are just chipping away.

Let's give Pakistan credit here for making a game of it. They have obviously had their problems before and during this series but they can take a little pride and a future to build on from this showing. Well done.

    Thanks, Matthew.

Well, this is turning into quite a day of toil for England's bowlers. They would probably have expected it to be all over by now.

Certainly there's more than a bit of hope for those with day four tickets.

Pakistan batting on means you lucky devils get to hear from Timothy Abraham again. He'll take you through the next while.

Good day so far for Pakistan, they are putting up a fight, that's what the fans wanted. They probably aren't going to win it but it's good to see that they are challenging England. It's been a good day for them.

  13. Tea - Pak 297-5published at 16:14 BST 11 September

And that, after another over of Ollie Robinson, is tea.

Pakistan have done well to make it through another session. They're restoring some pride.

  14. How's stat?!published at 16:10 BST 11 September

All four of Babar Azam's dismissals in this series have come against deliveries over the 86mph mark, with both today's dismissal and his dismissal against Jofra Archer also bouncer deliveries.

  15. Pak 296-5published at 66 overs

That really was a poor shot from Babar Azam, having been dismissed in similar fashion at Lord's. He's going to get a lot more bouncers in upcoming Tests.

Babar Azam looked just a little bit off against that short length and has been for a season or so. The ball that got him had squared up, so there was a change in his stance position so that he could then play that pull shot. It was too wide a stance and it didn't work. He's just got to practice so that word doesn't get around.

  17. Pak 296-5published at 65.3 overs

Somehow Saud Shakeel has done it again. There are three catchers waiting for a catch and he's plonked the ball in between all of them.

Jofra Archer has his eyes closed mid-pitch. He can't believe it.

  18. Pak 292-5published at 65 overs

Jofra Archer will have one more over in the session. Watch out in the field.

This has just been a proper day of Test cricket today on a good pitch.

  20. Pak 288-5published at 64.1 overs

Ollie Robinson has replaced Josh Tongue so the bouncer ploy is over from this end.
