Tom Banton moved onto a white-ball contract at Somerset earlier this year, Dan, so it'd be quite a reverse in trajectory.

He made Somerset's record score in the first match of last season, hitting 344 against Worcestershire from number five.

However he didn't score all that many runs in the rest of the season.

Is Banton playing himself into contention to be the Test opener as well here? He has all the shots and is able to handle fast bowling, which are two things Emilio Gay hasn't been able to show yet.

This is a good challenge for England. They have struggled in the past when it’s not a flat surface. They need to aim for 260 and bat the 50 overs. No point trying to smash 320 when it’s not on.
