Ben Pattison is starting to get it right tactically, and he is kind of flying under the radar.

Max Burgin is not involved, but GB team-mate Ben Pattison does race after he got his tactics right – he says for the first time this year – to come second in his semi-final.
Elsewhere, Europe’s fastest two-lap runner this year, Mark English, looked controlled as he broke the 48-year-old championship record by winning his semi-final in 1:43.49. The Irishman has five European medals from five finals indoors and out – but awaits his first gold.
Spain will provide a two-pronged challenge from 2024 silver medallist Mohamed Attaoui and national champion David Barroso, with only 0.85 seconds separating the season’s bests of seven of the finalists.

The 2018 European under-18 champion from Halifax appeared to have overcome the virus which ruined his Commonwealth Games to stay on course for a long-anticipated first senior major medal.
However, an injury picked up in the warm-up for tonight means he will not race.

Hate to confirm it, but I am not 100% sure. Rumours have gone around up here that Max Burgin is pulling out. He has been nursing this Achilles injury since Rabat.
Women's 3000m steeplechase final
Earlier, Lea Meyer of Germany suffered a dramatic fall at the final water jump in the women's steeplechase final - which was captured at close quarters by the cameras trackside.
Thankfully, Meyer was able to get up and finish the race - although this fall did cost her a chance of a medal.

Leo Neugebauer did what he needed to do, and he crossed the line in a great fashion.
He stuck within reaching distance all the way around. He stuck with the rest of the field and he knew what he needed to do.

But he's clearly still not at full power. Alekna's best effort from the first three throws, 61.78m, is not enough to get him into the top eight - meaning he is out of medal contention.

Germany's Leo Neugebauer topples over the line to win gold in the men's decathlon from compatriot Niklas Kaul!
The hefty 26-year-old slows visibly on the final straight and just about manages to haul himself across the finish line before hitting the floor.
His time of 4:38.36 sees him finish 19th of 20 in the field but that's enough - and it's still a season-best!
Kaul closed the race in fourth with 4:20.70, while Norway's Sander Skotheim's 4:25.99 in seventh was enough to secure bronze.
Antoine Ferranti of France won the race in 4:15.81, finishing 10th overall.

Germany's Leo Neugebauer leads the way with 7920 points, leading compatriot Niklas Kaul (7766) and Norway's Sander Skotheim (7662).
Kaul topped the standings in the javelin earlier in this session, moving into the medal places.
20 athletes are in the field for this - Kaul needs to beat Neugebauer by 22 seconds to take gold.

The reigning champion extends his championship record, which he set two throws earlier, with an effort of 72.51m.

Italy's Dariya Derkach extends her lead, reaching 14.60 metres with her fourth jump of six.
That's the best effort by any European competitor this year, and may well be enough for gold.

Defending champion Kristjan Ceh, wearing chunky goggles due to his poor eyesight, has set a huge marker with his opening throw.
The Slovenian launches an effort of 70.83m, a championship record. That will take some beating.
Women's triple jump final
Erika Saraceni, in only her second competition of the year after hernia surgery, topped qualifying with a PB of 14.50m.
However the young Italian has endured a nightmare, and was 12th of 12 contenders after three attempts, with just 13.48m.
That puts Saraceni out of medal contention.
