    Aus 39-3

Nope, nothing doing there. Jansen is round the wicket to Cameron Green and the ball hits the pad on the way through. South Africa speculate it could be lbw but Green got an inside edge and the ball runs away for four. Double whammy.

This is worth a shout if he's not hit it...

Rabada has been brilliant throughout his career.

KG is the leader of this attack. In the first Test of the series, Australia 120-6, you can see the loss of not having Rabada. He is so integral to the performance of this team.

    Target 288

That target of 288 looks so far off for Australia at the moment. Harmer looks likely to be plugged in from one end now, with the pacers rotating at the other.

  7. dropped catch

Green dropped on 10published at 13.1 overs

    Aus 32-3

It's tough, but it's a drop. The first ball after drinks, Cameron Green digs one out and a return catch is dropped low down by Simon Harmer. South Africa's second indiscretion of the day (after playing M People).

  8. drinks break

    Drinks breakpublished at 13 overs

    Aus 32-3

Marco Jansen is bowling to a plan here - the tall left-armer is coming over the wicket to Cameron Green and banging it in slightly short to try and get the batters hopping and fending. Corbin Bosch, on as a substitute fielder, is under the helmet at short leg. No dice for now, though.

    Drinks.

  9. Aus 31-3published at 12 overs

Here comes the spin of Simon Harmer: towel tucked down the back of his trousers, blond streaks in his fair hair, sunglasses hiding any expression from his eyes. His first ball slams into the front pad but it's outside the line and the appeal is over before it starts.

  10. Aus 30-3published at 11 overs

South Africa are doing most things right this morning. I say most... between overs they're playing M People.

A couple of singles keep Australia ticking along, albeit at a snail-like pace.

To Phil (9.07) I agree with Rabada being underrated but would argue it's more than 'slightly'. His 350 wickets have come in only 75 Tests and at a strike-rate of under 40. The only reason he's not at 500 wickets is because South Africa don't play enough Test cricket.

Cape Town looks a picture; Table Mountain bearing down on Newlands. Such is South Africa's dominance, they too feel overbearing for those of an Australian persuasion.

Wiaan Mulder, bowling brisk medium pace, has the keeper up, some close catchers in and the Aussies are suffocating. It's a different challenge to the world-class fast bowling provided by Rabada but it's just as effective at the moment. Maiden.

The way this is going, the new batter Josh Inglis will get to watch his beloved Coventry City at 3pm today. Rabada is being clapped to the crease by the crowd and he concedes just a couple of singles in his latest over.

I agree with that, Phil. He always touches 90mph, rarely errs on line and can move it both ways. A generational talent.

The imposing Cameron Green gets his first boundary with a punch through the off side off Wiaan Mulder. Between deliveries, Green pauses and exhales. He knows what is riding on this.

I feel like Rabada is slightly under-rated in the grand scheme of things. 350 Test wickets at an average of 22 is outrageous. He's one of the greatest bowlers of the modern era.

And another. Australia's key man is back in the sheds.

Rabada probes that off-stump line, Head takes the bait and Marco Jansen gobbles up the catch at fourth slip.

That's Rabada's 350th Test wicket. Only Dale Steyn has reached the landmark faster for the Proteas.

South Africa to Travis Head so far...

When it's wide, he scores. When it's straight, less so.

  20. Aus 17-2published at 6 overs

South Africa are making Australia work for every run. Aiden Markram makes a good stop at backward point, shortly after Head fends another off his moustache. Just two leg-byes in the over.
