Including the wicketkeeper, there's seven men catching around the bat now. Australia are turning down singles. Who will blink first?

The chances of a draw are so remote they don't even register on the win predictor. It's 98% South Africa and 2% Australia to win at the moment.

  3. Warner labels Australia 'terrible', 'un-Australian' and 'utterly disgraceful'published at 11:39 GMT 31 October

David Warner has been giving his thoughts about this Australia performance over on Fox Sports. Now out of the team, he has not held back.

"It is terrible," he said. "It is un-Australian. There is no fight whatsoever.

"It is disgraceful. Yes, Matt Renshaw was burgled down the leg side. I think it is deplorable.

"The batters have let the bowlers down all series. Renshaw showed fight in that first Test but I think the batters have been utterly disgraceful."

England v India 2025 has to make the shortlist for best series of the last 10 years. Down to the wire and Woakes coming down The Oval steps, arm in a sling, to try to save the game will live long in the memory. In retrospect, Brook's ridiculous hoick was the beginning of the end for Bazball too.

  6. Aus 62-7published at 32 overs

Australia have given up any hopes of victory now - they look like they're going to try and bat out the next 59 overs on a pitch giving some serious assistance to the spinners. Another maiden but it's absorbing cricket.

  7. Aus 62-7published at 31 overs

That's four maidens in a row now. Australia are going nowhere.

Loving the cricket today. SA are rampant and over in the final of the one-day tri-series, Sri Lanka’s batting continues to be absolutely box office. I’m enjoying flicking between the channels!

Play is held up while Temba Bavuma puts in another short leg for Simon Harmer.

Aiden Markram puts on the helmet, straps up his box and shoves his hat down the back of his trousers. There's a towel hanging out of his front too.

He looks like he's overpacked his case and rather than pay the extra charge he's going to walk through security wearing the surplus. Another maiden.

Another maiden for Rabada, who is serenaded by the crowd between overs. They react to the PA playing Seven Nation Army by singing 'Oh... KG Rabada'.

Is Rabada's speed to get to 350 wickets a reflection of how good he is, or how bad some modern-day batsmen are at protecting their wicket?

Maiden from Harmer, who still has five fielders around the batter. Up on the players' balcony, Marnus Labuschagne is in deep discussion with Steve Smith. Beside them, Alex Carey looks pretty glum.

South Africa take it upstairs when Pat Cummins shoulders arms to Simon Harmer. The ball spins back sharply and no shot is played.

The only way this series could have been better was if it was five matches instead of three. Criminal that it isn't?

That lunch break lasted longer than most of the Australians did this morning. Cameron Green is still there battling and he's been joined by Pat Cummins.

Kagiso Rabada has the ball in hand, searching for his 18th five-wicket haul in Tests on the same day he reached the 350 Test wickets landmark.

Welcome back... we've just been discussing where this ranks in the list of best Test series of the last 10 years? Got to be top five at least? Feel free to let us know. But be quick... the Aussies look like they're going to fold quickly here.

  19. Australia crumble towards defeat on final day v South Africapublished at 10:37 GMT 31 October

What a session for South Africa. We began believing this Test was in the balance on its final day. Not anymore!

Kagiso Rabada dismissed Matt Renshaw and Marnus Labuschagne in the very first over. Labuschagne's dismissal, shouldering arms and being pinned lbw after his lengthy poor run, felt significant.

Rabada soon added the wicket of Travis Head in his first spell to become the fastest bowler to 350 Test wickets in terms of balls bowled.

Australia have not helped themselves, however.

Josh Inglis was run out for four after being inexplicably called through by Cameron Green, which opened the door to Simon Harmer.

The spinner now has three wickets for five runs and, at 60-7 at lunch, Australia's hopes are in tatters.

The Proteas will resume their push for victory at 11:10 GMT.
