Transfer deadline day is upon us and today is the final chance for your EFL club to finalise any business until January.

The transfer window closes at 23:00 BST, so we might have some late night scrambles to get deals over the line.

Burton Albion have signed Fulham defender Harvey Araujo on a three-year deal, with an option of an additional year, for an undisclosed fee.

The move marks the 21-year-old Londoner's first time in League One but he does have experience in the fourth tier during loan spells with Chesterfield and Colchester United.

Araujo made 33 appearances for the U's last season, but his season was cut short when he sustained a broken cheekbone in March.

"Harvey is a really promising young player and someone who perfectly fits the type of player we are looking to work with here at Burton Albion," sporting director Richard Dorman told the club's website, external.

"He is comfortable on the ball, and, more importantly, he is a defender first."

Burton Albion will look for their first win of the season when they face Leicester City on Saturday (15:00 BST), having picked up a point in their opening game against Stevenage with a 1-1 draw.

Burton Albion have signed defender Emeka Adiele from Dutch club FC Utrecht on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old began his career in the West Ham United academy and played eight EFL Trophy games for their Under-21 side before moving to the Netherlands.

He made two substitute appearances in the Eredivisie towards the end of last season as Utrecht finished in sixth place.

Burton head coach Gary Bowyer told the club website: "He is an exciting young player who adds depth to the squad.

"We're looking forward to working with him and I'm sure he will learn a lot from our more experienced players."

Former Iceland striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson has announced his retirement at the age of 34.

Bodvarsson scored four goals in 64 international appearances for Iceland and started the Euro 2016 match in which his country upset England 2-1 to advance to the quarter-finals, a result that led to Roy Hodgson's resignation.

The striker spent almost ten years in England, first at Wolves, and then Reading and Millwall, before a successful spell at Bolton between 2022 and 2024 where he scored 25 goals in 94 appearances.

He also played for Wrexham and Burton Albion before heading home to Iceland to return to his first club Selfoss.

Bodvarsson said in a statement on social media: "I want to thank all my managers, coaches, players and staff members that I've been grateful enough to have met and worked with. It was great sharing the highs and lows of football with you."

Gary Bowyer has said Blackburn is a "special" club for him as Burton Albion prepare to host Rovers at the Pirelli Stadium in the EFL Cup on Saturday (15:00 BST).

Bowyer learned much of his trade at Ewood Park, having first joined as the under-18s coach in 2004. He then went on to have two separate stints as caretaker manager before being appointed permanently in 2013.

Bowyer was dismissed in November 2015, bringing to an end over a decade at the club.

"The club is special to me," Bowyer said.

"I had an incredible time there. To have been involved in one club for so long going through your coaching career is very rare these days.

"From Graeme Souness, who just had the charisma, to Mark Hughes, to Sam Allardyce, to Paul Ince - unbelievable managers to pick brains from."
