    Norrie 7-6 (8-6) 2-6 2-6 3-5 Van Assche*

Cameron Norrie is getting himself fired up for the fight here, letting out a big roar as he moves to game point after Luca Van Assche reached deuce.

The Frenchman responds with a fizzing forehand into the back corner to haul Norrie back, though, and the still-quiet Van Assche shakes his fist after watching his opponent blast wide.

Norrie is the first to blink in an extended baseline exchange, and it leaves Van Assche a game away.

Tomas Machac is his own worst enemy. At 30-all, he gets down low to cushion a drop shot... and pops the ball in the net.

    *Samuel 6-2 6-3 3-2 Machac

Toby Samuel is on the back foot, defending for all he's worth as Tomas Machac - with a second break point - pummels deep return after deep return. But his resistance pays off, with the Czech eventually losing his composure and posting a forehand long.

  7. Van Assche holds servepublished at 21:43 BST 30 August

    *Norrie 7-6 (8-6) 2-6 2-6 3-4 Van Assche

Luca Van Assche dusts himself down after the disappointment of losing his advantage in this set and gets back on track with a hold to love.

Just two more games needed as far as the Frenchman is concerned - but Cameron Norrie has shown in the past few minutes that he still has enough to ensure it is not quite that simple.

    *Samuel 6-2 6-3 3-2 Machac

Tomas Machac isn't going down without a fight. He recovers from 30-0 down to force deuce, unleashing a tracer bullet forehand with Toby Samuel on game point.

He couldn't capitalise on his break point but he's forced a fourth deuce on Samuel's serve, firing a cross-court backhand winner with the Briton rushing the net.

  9. Norrie levels fourth setpublished at 21:39 BST 30 August

    Norrie 7-6 (8-6) 2-6 2-6 3-3 Van Assche*

The shouts of "allez" have returned on Cameron Norrie's side of the court.

There's a spring in his step and he's making his winners now, lifting a lob over Luca Van Assche to level the fourth set at three games apiece.

  10. Norrie breaks back in fourth setpublished at 21:36 BST 30 August

    *Norrie 7-6 (8-6) 2-6 2-6 2-3 Van Assche

    It's a funny old game.

One minute Cameron Norrie's race appeared to be run, the next Luca Van Assche's level suddenly drops and the Briton is back in the set.

Still, there is a lot of work to do here.

  11. Samuel breaks servepublished at 21:35 BST 30 August

    *Samuel 6-2 6-3 3-2 Machac

Tomas Machac pulls one point back but then fires an uncontrolled forehand well into the tramlines.

From 2-0 down, it's all looking quite rosy again for Toby Samuel. Big service game coming up to consolidate the break.

  12. Break points Norriepublished at 21:35 BST 30 August

    Norrie 7-6 (8-6) 2-6 2-6 1-3 Van Assche*

    Oh, hold on a minute!

I don't think anyone sat around the court expected this game from Luca Van Assche. A double fault gifts Cameron Norrie two break points and a huge lifeline here.

    Norrie's in trouble here.

Trying to extend the rallies and get some timing but he's really struggling and unfortunately playing right into Van Assche's game.

There's no doubt there's something wrong with Norrie. I don't think he's necessarily been outplayed, he's just really tough and that in itself is a great tactic.

    Samuel 6-2 6-3 2-2 Machac*

I take it back. New shot of the day contender from Toby Samuel. It's another backhand tramline kisser, this time after being pulled back and forth across the baseline and beating the advancing Tomas Machac.

In the blink of an eye, he's up 0-40.

  15. Van Assche breaks in fourth setpublished at 21:33 BST 30 August

This could be the match, based on how things have been going...

A series of errors from Cameron Norrie gift Luca Van Assche three break points.

Another, on the first, puts the Frenchman firmly on course for the second round. Norrie looks down and out here.

  16. Samuel holds servepublished at 21:32 BST 30 August

    Samuel 6-2 6-3 2-2 Machac*

Shot of the day from Toby Samuel! Stretched wide on his backhand side, he drifts a delicious sliced stroke down the line and it kisses the tramline.

Normal service resumes on his serve. Hold to 15.

A little bit of a blip for Samuel there. After being two sets to love up, everything going nice and cruisy, then lose your serve in the third set - but it doesn't look like Machac has enough in the legs.

  18. Samuel breaks backpublished at 21:30 BST 30 August

    *Samuel 6-2 6-3 1-2 Machac

Sigh. Tomas Machac dumps a simple backhand volley into the net. That's now 22 unforced errors from the Czech, including five in the third set.

  19. Van Assche holds servepublished at 21:29 BST 30 August

    *Norrie 7-6 (8-6) 2-6 2-6 1-2 Van Assche

Another straightforward service game for Luca Van Assche. If he maintains this level, it really is going to take a heroic effort from Cam Norrie to deny him from here.
