Grigor Dimitrov has the break - and he may soon have the match!

He dares to dream once more, while Jakub Mensik wonders what on earth is happening on court one.

“Over a career, there are certain moments you always remember, and this will definitely be one of them.”

They were Grigor Dimitrov’s words after his opening win at Wimbledon this year, 12 months on from his tearful exit after he was forced to retire because of injury when leading world number one Jannik Sinner by two sets.

Handed a wildcard for this year’s tournament, Dimitrov is really making that opportunity count as he goes toe-to-toe with 15th seed Jakub Mensik and nears another hugely significant victory.

There’s an electric atmosphere under the court one roof, which is almost blown off as Dimitrov breaks to give himself the chance to serve this out!

And there it is.

Grigor Dimitrov is one game away from the third round.

Jakub Mensik misjudges the flight of the ball and catches his forehand flush on the rim of the racquet.

Not quite ace number 31 but as close at it comes. Jakub Mensik drives a serve into the corner, forcing Grigor Dimitrov to do the splits. The Bulgarian makes contact with the racquet but it's not coming back.

And there is ace number 31 for advantage.

But Dimitrov drags him back to deuce.

Jakub Mensik has just hit 30 aces. Quite remarkable.

Grigor Dimitrov isn't marvelling at those stats, though.

I couldn't agree more with wishing the best for Grigor Dimitrov after his past at Wimbledon.

This guy is a class act. He knows how to play on the grass courts so well. I do think he handled the roof closure situation unbelievably well.

There's a focus around Grigor Dimitrov's game now. The Bulgarian gets to 30-15 with an ace.

At 30-30 they both get on their skates. There's a dramatic slide from Dimitrov to return a drop shot before Jakub Mensik slides into the tramlines and returns just long.

Grigor Dimitrov has broken once already in this match - doing so in the final game of the third to take the set - and he needs to come up with another sharpish to avoid going the full distance tonight.

Jakub Mensik looks on track for a hold to 15 but Dimitrov has other ideas.

As a reminder, the reason why Grigor Dimitrov was so frustrated at the roof closure is because it brought back a few demons from his match on Centre Court against Jannik Sinner in the last 16 last year.

He was two sets to love up, the roof was closed, and obviously when play resumed he popped his pectoral muscle and that was the end of a beautiful run for him.

But he still has hope here.

Grigor Dimitrov channels his frustrations in the right way to get a hold to love.

Grigor Dimitrov appears to have got a grip of his emotions but they threaten to boil over again when, at 40-30 down, he wastes an opportunity and slaps a forehand into the net.

The Bulgarian considers throwing his racquet but thinks better of that and just spins it around.

Could have been a chance on to get the break back had he reached deuce.

We're close to a five setter here, it's going to be a late night.

Grigor has had a lot of break-points, I just don't know. Mensik has saved a lot of break-points, he's hitting great first serves but at the end of the last set, he was missing a lot of serves. Let's not forget that he was involved in a four and a half hour match in the first round.

I think you take the 20-year-old whipper snapper over the 35-year-old veteran.

Frances Tiafoe, speaking on court, after defeating Jan Choinski: "I was playing super quick in between points, definitely trying to get it done before it gets too dark.

"Good performance from him [Jan Choinski], the Brit didn't win today but I'm happy I did. It was a great atmosphere, there's nothing like Wimbledon."

That's a little bit better from Grigor Dimitrov.

The 35-year-old manages to control his emotions a bit better this time, taking a 40-30 service hold by forcing Jakub Mensik to make the majority of the mistakes.

A vital hold of serve - a double-break would surely have been game over.
