It was at last year's US Open that Naomi Osaka reached her first Grand Slam semi-final since landing her fourth major title at the 2021 Australian Open.

Her bid for a third US Open triumph was ended by runner-up Amanda Anisimova 12 months ago.

Following her first-round win, Osaka has now claimed 29 main draw wins at the US Open - surpassing her 28 at the Australian Open.

Another today would be her 80th Grand Slam match win - and would mean she has reached the third round at all four slams in the same year for only the second time in her career.

It would be the first time she has achieved that since 2018, when she ended the season by winning her maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open.

Naomi Osaka made her latest grand entrance at a Grand Slam as she arrived for her opening match at this year's US Open draped in a hooded white gown which featured cuttings of newspaper headlines about her career highlights.

The four-time major champion wore an all-black basketball-style kit underneath, which she played in as she defeated Russia's Anastasia Zakharova 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-3).

Osaka, who is a two-time champion in New York, said the on-court look was inspired by NBA legend Allen Iverson, who is widely credited for introducing a sharper focus on fashion in his sport during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The 28-year-old continues her bid for a third US Open singles title against Czech doubles specialist Katerina Siniakova today.

Iga Swiatek is nailing all her shots at the moment as she opens up a 40-0 lead, before holding to love as Nadia Podoroska puts a forehand return into the net.

These games are flying by at the moment with Swiatek looking so strong on serve.

Auger-Aliassime first round took place in the latter hours of the evening on Monday.

He comes out today avoiding the extremeness of the late evening.

Before the match the umpire told the players that due to a technical fault, replays will not be shown on the big screen.

Instead, he has a tablet to watch them on.
