Australia have made a pretty spectacular start to the competition on the uneven bars.

Kate McDonald has set the highest score of the day with a 14.200 with Ruby Pass adding 13.400.

Wales' Emily Roper might be in with a chance of making the individual final but Ruby Evans and Jemima Taylor's chances are fading.

England are warming up for the vault after a fairly low-key start from South Africa on that apparatus.

Wales men's 3x3 wheelchair basketball team have come through a close encounter with Malaysia to remain unbeaten in Pool B.

It was high drama in the final seconds of the game when Dan May made it 14-13 before Malaysia missed two shots to hand the win to Wales.

England women's basketball team have beaten hosts Scotland 14-9 to rise to second in Pool B but they've got much loftier plans for this Commonwealth Games.

Shanice Beckford-Norton was part of the squad that lost out on the gold medal to Canada in Birmingham 2022 and isn't satisfied with just dreaming of one better.

"It's not hope. That's the goal, that's what we are going for," Beckford-Norton told BBC Sport.

"Coming up silver in Birmingham, the only sight is gold now."

The warm-ups are under way ahead of the final session of the team final.

England are the defending champions after posting a score of 161.100 in Birmingham, 3.100 more than runners-up Australia with Canada a distant third and Wales pipping Scotland to fifth place.

This is a new-look England team, however, with none of the defending champions back to defend their title, whereas Australia can call on four of the team who took silver in Birmingham, including individual all-around champion Georgia Godwin who also won the vault and claimed silver on the uneven bars and beams.

England's men were dethroned in The Arena last night, can their women avoid a similar fate.

England, Australia and Canada have made up the podium at nine of the past 10 Games, the only exception coming in 2014 when Wales took bronze... in Glasgow!

Wales have posted a very competitive score this afternoon, they couldn't repeat the feat, could they?

England made a superb start to their netball campaign with a 83-34 win over Northern Ireland at the Hydro Arena earlier this afternoon.

The Roses are looking to regain the gold medal they won in Australia eight years ago after a missing out on the podium in 2022.

Goal shooter Eleanor Cardwell scored one more goal in her 30 minutes on court (35) than the entire Northern Ireland team combined.

As one of just two former Commonwealth athletes of the 12-player squad, Cardwell will be hoping to take that fine form into England's next match against reigning champions and world number one Australia tomorrow afternoon.

Wales women's pair Lauren Gowen and Amy Williams have eased past Botswana in a 2-0 victory to continue their unbeaten run.

Team Wales took the first set 8-2 but impressed even more in the second to deliver a dominant 15-1 performance.

It's another fine first effort which earns a score of 13.100.

There's a hop back on the second but it's higher difficulty - 13.100 which means with a bonus it's worth 13.300 overall and first place on the day, just above her sister.

Twins Abigail Roper and Emily Roper are going twice on the vault, with only their first counting towards the team competition.

Abigail Roper goes first - looking for something in the region of 13.000+. It's 13.450.

Her second vault is less difficult than the first but performed cleanly...12.700 which makes her overall score 13.275, best of the day so far.

Frances Stone is first to go, aged just 16, and silver medallist on this apparatus at the British Championships.

Ruby Evans has just shown why she is the World silver medallist on the floor.

The 18-year-old Team GB Olympian has all eyes on her as she leaps, twists and tumbles her way through her routine, her toes just nudging the boundary at one point, but finishing with a spectacular double-tuck.

That's going to take some beating...

12.900 with the 0.3 penalty.. most difficult, best executed, 0.550 ahead of anyone else.

And there'll be room for improvement in the individual final, which she'll surely be in after that.
