Danny Rohl has been speaking to the media before Rangers host Annan Athletic in the Scottish Cup on Friday.

Here are the key lines from the Ibrox boss:

• On newly-signed left-back Tuur Rommens, who will be ready to play in 10-14 days: "I'm very happy that he's here now. We worked hard to make this deal done. He will bring us a physical side as well to the team. I think he's very strong in the defence and also in the offensive."

• Asked about a loan move for Wolfsburg and Denmark winger Andreas Skov Olsen, which is reportedly close to completion, Rohl says: "I'm not a good poker player. But now we are in the process, it looks very positive. But as long as it's not confirmed then I cannot tell you too much."

• He adds on Olsen: "If we can bring the best out of him then he is a weapon," and says the 26-year-old will be a "great loan deal" and Rangers "always try to make it a permanent deal".

• Olsen would take Rangers' signings haul to three in the January window and Rohl is confident of more, saying chairman Andrew Cavenagh is "on the front foot".

• On the three-team title race between Hearts, Rangers and Celtic, Rohl believes it could go to the final game of the season.

• He adds: "It's nice for the supporters. And for us, we have to prepare, we have to work on it. I think in the last weeks we have worked hard to have such a situation. But we know as well, there's still 16 games to go, where you have to deliver again and again - and let's see what we can do."

• On the cup tie, Rohl says Rangers show "big respect" to every opponent and cited shock knockout defeats for Real Madrid and Crystal Palace in the past week as a reason why his side can't take Annan lightly.

• He will rotate his team for the game because some players need a rest and others deserve a chance.

Denmark winger Andreas Skov Olsen will have a medical with Rangers today after a loan deal until the end of the season and an option to buy for €10m (£8.6m) in the summer was agreed with Wolfsburg. (Florian Plettenberg on X), external

Tuur Rommens says it was an easy decision to complete a "dream" move to Rangers.

The 21-year-old will vie for the left-back slot in Danny Rohl's side after joining on a deal until summer 2029 from Belgian club Westerlo.

It's understood Rommens' fitness will be carefully managed because of a previous knock and he will be fully ready for action in three to four weeks.

"I'm very happy to be here," he told the Rangers website. "It's a dream to play for a club like this and I only have positive feelings.

"Everyone knows Rangers and when a club like this is interested in you, then you want to be part of this club. The most important thing is that they believe in me and that's why I have come here.

"It's a big club with a lot of fans and they always play in Europe. It was very easy for me to make this choice.

"I'm 22 and I have played a lot of games in the first division in Belgium. It was the right time for me to make this step to a bigger club."

Rommens said he first knew of Rangers' interest a couple of months ago and that Westerlo head coach Issame Charai - who was Ibrox assistant for the final six months of last season - told him to jump at the opportunity.

"He told me a lot of good things about this club and also the expectations. He advised me to make this choice," Rommens added.

"I also had good conversations with Danny Rohl. It was about how the team played, how he thinks I'm a good fit for this team. It was all good things and it was positive talks."

Manager Rohl is thrilled to land the "young and hungry" Belgium Under-21 international, adding: "He adds real quality and physicality to the group and increases competition in a key area of the pitch.

"We believe he will be a fantastic addition to the side and an important asset in the years ahead."

Rangers have made Belgian left-back Tuur Rommens their second January signing.

The 22-year-old Belgian Under-21 international arrives from Westerlo in his homeland on a three-and-a-half year deal, subject to international clearance and a work permit.

The turnaround in Rangers' fortunes since Danny Rohl took over has been quite remarkable.

And with the club looking like doing some serious business in the transfer market this month, supporters have every right to be excited about how the second half of the season could unfold.

Performances have not always been inspiring under the German, but domestically at least, he has found a way of getting results to the extent that a 13-point deficit to league leaders Hearts has now dwindled to just three, albeit with Rangers having played a game more.

Similarly, the eight points by which they trailed Celtic has now become a three-point lead, though the defending champions could pull level by beating Falkirk tonight.

It means there is at least a three-way battle for the title, though Motherwell, who have the second-best points haul since Rohl took over, also look like a force to be reckoned with.

From Rangers' perspective, simply to be involved in a title race is testament to the work done by Rohl and his coaching staff (not least set-piece specialist Scott Fry, with Rangers having scored from more dead-ball scenarios than any other team since he was brought in).

Now they are hoping to kick on by bringing in players this month to strengthen the starting line-up.

Tochi Chukwuani, the one signing confirmed so far, has good pedigree and supporters will hope he can be the 'number six' they have needed for some considerable time.

It looks as though he will be joined by 22-year-old Belgian left-back Tuur Rommens, who will provide competition for Jayden Meghoma, but the most exciting prospect of the window so far has to be the potential loan deal for Andreas Skov Olsen.

Rangers have been crying out for a right winger all season and if they can bring in a player of his quality, assuming he can recapture the form that earned him a big-money move to Wolfsburg, it would be a serious statement of intent from the club.

Rangers winger Oscar Cortes has joined Argentine Primera Division club Atletico Huracan on loan with an option to buy for a fee of up to £1.65m after being recalled from his spell with Sporting Gijon.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Ibrox club for a reported £4.5m from Lens last summer, had been on a season-long loan in Spain's second tier.

But he has now joined Huracan for the 2026 season, with the Buenos Aires club saying he has been with them preparing for pre-season friendles against Cerro Porteno and Cucuta Deportivo.

Huracan have revealed that they are paying an initial £60,000 loan fee and have three chances to trigger a permanent transfer depending on how quickly they make a decision.

The first starts at £1.35m, the second being £1.5m and then £1.65m at the end of the loan deal, all for which they would acquire 50% of the player's rights.

Cortes, who has one cap for Colombia, joined Rangers from Lens in February 2024 on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

The transfer became permanent last summer despite the winger failing to become a first-team regular.

He had made only made nine starts and 11 substitute appearances for the Scottish Premiership club before heading to Spain's second tier in September.

Cortes' career did not take off there either and he only made four starts and four appearances as a substitute for Sporting.

Now he has joined the club who have just appointed former Boca Juniors head coach Diego Martinez as they look to improve their 12th-place finish among the 30 top-flight sides last season.

It was imperative to follow up the derby victory over Celtic with two wins against Aberdeen and Danny Rohl's men duly obliged.

In all honesty, twice beating the Dons 2-0 were the most comfortable games of the season so far.

Set-plays were massive for us in both games and Scott Fry has to take credit for how dangerous we have been from them.

I've been delighted with the response from the team following the defeat at Tynecastle. To win five in a row while going to Aberdeen and Celtic is good going.

The Scottish Cup tie against Annan on Friday gives the manager a chance to rotate the team and keep the likes of Nico Raskin and Jack Butland fresh for upcoming league fixtures.

The window has brought us one signing so far and I'm looking forward to seeing what Tochi Chukwuani will bring to the team in Connor Barron's absence.

I'm hoping we can also add a winger and a striker in addition to the left-back, Tuur Rommens, who is set to sign imminently.

We seem to be have a more joined-up style when attacking this window and are showing a willingness to correct the wrongs of the summer.

As for the league, I don't want to declare we are in a title fight. What I will say is Rohl is doing a good job and all we can do is keep winning and see where it takes us. Boring, I know, but that's how I see the season.

Rangers cruised to a 2-0 win at Pittodrie on Sunday and their captain makes my team of the week.

James Tavernier drove Rangers on in the murky conditions, scored another penalty and showed his quality again as his side picked up yet another three points.

New Rangers signing Tochi Chukwuani will bring added physicality as well technical ability to their midfield, according to close friend and re-united team-mate Mohamed Diomande.

Chukwuani's arrival from Sturm Graz was announced just before Sunday's 2-0 win in Aberdeen took Danny Rohl's side back to within three points of Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts.

Diomande played alongside the 22-year-old for Nordsjaelland in the latter's native Denmark before the Ivory Coast midfielder moved to Ibrox in 2024.

Asked what kind of player Rangers had purchased, the 24-year-old said: "He's played a lot of European games. He's been watching the Scottish league a lot because he's been watching me as a friend.

"He's got the ability and that's what we also need. Now that we know that we have a very difficult moment with Bas [Connor Barron] injured.

"Tochi has been a close friend to me since we were 14, 15. I played with him in Denmark. He's good lad, technically very good.

"He's strong on the ball. He's going to help us to where we want to go."

Diomande revealed that Chukwuani, who moved to Lyngby in 2022 then Graz two years later, spoke to him before deciding on his next destination.

"Obviously, I'm going to give him good advice because I know it's a massive club and I know it's a next step for him," he added.

"That's what we all want to experience, to play in these big clubs.

"In the middle of the park, he's going to help with his ability. We don't have the kind of player he is because he's more physical and he's technically good under pressure."

Robert: 2-0 flattered Aberdeen. Didn't see anything wrong with the disallowed goal. Rohl has Rangers moving in the right direction but we need to be more clinical in front of goal. The way things are going the league could well be decided on goal difference.

Ronnie: Another massive three points at a venue which we have struggled to get points. Mohamed Diamonde was a standout, Youssef Chermiti led the line impressively and should probably have scored. Emmanuel Fernandez is a real threat at set-pieces. Still room for improvement but a good transfer window and players returning from injury gives Rangers fans real hope that we could incredibly win this title.

Andy Halliday believes the Scottish football public are waiting for former club Hearts to "slip up" after the Premiership leaders came through a stern test at Dundee.

Claudio Braga's goal and stunning late save by his replacement Craig Gordon secured a 1-0 win for Hearts at Dundee on Sunday, despite goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow's first-half red card.

"Everyone's waiting for Hearts to slip up," Halliday told the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast.

"When Hearts go down to 10 men in the first half, I think that was the moment. Everyone was expecting, well, here we go. This is going to be a real challenge for them.

"That being said, obviously another chapter into Hearts this season with the return of Craig Gordon and obviously the save he makes at end of the game. We are talking about how important these results and performances can be."

Halliday also turned out for Rangers and the Ibrox side churned out a second straight 2-0 win over Aberdeen later on Sunday. Danny Rohl's side trail Hearts by three points though Derek McInnes' league leaders have a game in hand at home to St Mirren to play on Wednesday evening.

"Danny Rohl's got a tune out of Rangers, so everyone's expecting them to carry momentum forward and really push Hearts," said Halliday.

"I still feel that Rangers have to be extremely active from now to the end of this transfer window to bring in two, three immediate starters and guys that can affect the game at the top end of the pitch, especially in open play."

Rangers head coach Danny Rohl told BBC Scotland: "The game management was outstanding. I'm happy, that's five wins in a row.

"We couldn't win here for two years and today we showed how we want to play football for 90 minutes. It's a huge step forward.

"We have a clean sheet mentality. You defend to the end and, if you do this, you win games.

"We are growing. We have a clear idea of what we want to do and all the small details influence our performance. I'm very proud. It's a development from everyone at the club, the players, the staff."
