• Thelo Aasgaard has scored in three of his past four starts in the Scottish Premiership (three goals), including both of his latest two at Ibrox, with three of his four league goals for Rangers this season coming at home (75%).

• Just 27% of Dundee's points in the Scottish Premiership this season have come away from home (six out of 22), the lowest ratio of any side, although they did pick up their first away league win of the season most recently at Dundee United (1-0).

• Rangers have won their past five league matches, last winning more on the spin in February 2024 under Philippe Clement (nine).

Norway midfielder Thelo Aasgaard believes Rangers "can definitely go up a level" after stretching their winning run to seven games.

The latest came on Thursday as the Ibrox side broke their Europa League duck with a 1-0 defeat of Bulgarian visitors Ludogorets.

Rangers return to Scottish Premiership business on Sunday at home to a Dundee side who drew 1-1 on their last trip to Ibrox in August.

"I think we can definitely go up a level," Aasgaard, signed from Luton Town in the summer, said. "We won 1-0, but we probably should have won by more.

"Obviously we took the three points and I'm really happy for the fans to get that first win in Europe. It was enjoyable, but we made it a bit hard for ourselves."

Aasgaard thinks Rangers' recent run is built on "defensive performances" - the club have now gone four games without conceding - but he agrees with head coach Danny Rohl that the "last pass" needs to improve at the other end.

"We want to be a bit better in the final third, score more goals and prove that we're a better team," he said.

Rohl has improved results since taking over from the sacked Russell Martin, with Rangers now level with rivals Celtic and six behind leaders Hearts, and Aasgaard thinks the atmosphere round the club is now "totally different".

"The feeling is really good at the minute," he said. It's still the same lads, but we've got a really solid mindset together. We're a real group and we feel that even off the pitch."

Asked what had changed, Aasgaard said: "We've had to be resilient and we've been through some tough patches together, so I think that's made us stronger."

As for his own performances, which have yielded four goals in his latest seven outings, the Liverpool-born 23-year-old said he is enjoying Glasgow life.

"Once I'm settled there, then my football on the pitch is usually echoed," he added. "I've built up a bit of momentum and I hope to keep that going."

Dundee head coach Steven Pressley believes there are similarities between the progress Rangers have made under Danny Rohl and that of his own side over the past few months.

The teams meet at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday aiming to continue strong form.

Rohl, having replaced Russell Martin in October, has Rangers on a seven-game winning run while Dundee have four victories in their past five fixtures.

"Rangers' situation on a greater scale is similar to our own," said Pressley.

"Danny went in there, they became a little bit more pragmatic, they addressed some of the outstanding issues like their vulnerability from set-plays and now that is a real strength.

"I think once you start taking small steps and seeing the results from that, a confidence grows within the team and just organically things improve. I think Rangers, it is a bit like our own journey.

"So very similar but a really good Rangers team just now."

Dundee drew 1-1 at Ibrox last August during Martin's calamitous Rangers tenure.

"Any time you go to Ibrox it is a really big challenge for ourselves," added Pressley.

"But to face a Rangers team that are on the back of six [now seven] straight wins, five of those in the league, that are growing in confidence, have a lot of momentum and have just recruited a number of very talented players makes the job in hand very difficult.

"But equally we go there with a little bit of form ourselves so it is a game we are excited about. Like we did the last time we went there, we need everything to go right and if that happens you never know."

While Dundee are deservedly getting plenty of plaudits, Pressley is keeping his feet on the ground.

"There are so many other aspects that we still need to improve around the club and in our own performance," he said.

"That is what excites me, we are making progress but a lot more to come."

We asked for your thoughts after Rangers beat Ludogorets 1-0 for a first Europa League win but exited the competition.

Here are some of your comments:

Ronald: Still not firing on all cylinders but getting there.

Graeme: In general it's great to see these tight wins, but we need to be more clinical. The most common phrase from the commentator was "Max Aarons back to Jack Butland," how he plays before James Tavernier is beyond me.

Derek: Some good football until the final pass. I would sell Djeidi Gassama and keep Finlay Curtis. The team from last year would be in the top eight again with the calibre of sides we faced this year. In fairness, 100% respect for how Danny Rohl has turned this team around.

Martin: Significant improvement, maybe not in abilities but at least in effort. We're creating more chances but with a low conversion rate it could cost us, it always looks like we need that second goal to ease the nerves on the park and in the crowd. But we look like a team with a purpose. It will be interesting to see if the new signings bring more to the table.

James: Rangers defended well but were a bit lucky not to concede a goal. The midfield and attacking movement was strong but several scoring chances were squandered. Confidence comes with victories and more success.

Graeme: Summed up what everyone connected with the club must be thinking. Why did we pick Russell Martin over Rohl in the summer? Now we need to back it up again for the next 20 games and hope the cards fall our way elsewhere.

Steve: It was pleasing to get the result Rangers deserved although it was a nervy last 20 minutes when failure to score a second meant any slip would take the win away. Rangers are at least five points light of where they should be. Porto will be difficult but not impossible. For Rohl to take the next step a win would be a fantastic finish. Much work to do but plenty of hope and promise.

Goalkeeper Jack Butland wants Rangers to be "more convincing" despite Danny Rohl's side extending their winning run to seven games.

Rangers edged past Ludogorets 1-0 at home for their first Europa League win of the season, albeit they are now out of the competition with a game to spare.

But Butland insists Rangers, who have doggedly racked up victories amid fluctuating performances, can't rest on their laurels.

"We can't take that for granted," the 32-year-old said.

"Yes we're grinding some out, but there's been other games where we've won but we could be more convincing. So that's the message in there.

"It's definitely a case of room for improvement but good to keep winning, good for the momentum, good for the group."

Rangers face Dundee on Sunday while fellow title challengers Celtic and Hearts face off at Tynecastle.

"I think it's a habit," Butland said of Rangers' recent momentum.

"It becomes a habit and that's what this group needs to get. That's seven wins in a row now which is great but that's also the expectation of this club. Things are going right, as they should be.

"There's a lot of football left to be played. For us, we need to take care of what we've got in front of us. Elsewhere will take care of itself one way or another.

"But we need to focus on what we're doing, and that's back here [at Ibrox] again in a couple of days."

Rangers' head coach Danny Rohl told TNT Sports: "Seven wins in a row is fantastic. We have to be hungry for more, especially looking forward to Sunday. We have to be on the front foot again.

"We gave some moments to the opponent, which I don't like. In general there's been a lot of clean sheets since I've been here and that's a good feeling."

On whether Rangers fans will see the club's new signings this weekend, Rohl adds: "Let's see."

Speaking further to the assembled press pack, Rohl added: "The first win in Europe is good for us as it keeps the momentum.

"I think now, seven wins in a row which is fantastic.

"Also from the last nine games, six clean sheets as well, this is great.

"But I also saw a lot of things to improve, and I think this is for me also the part, I will not close my eyes and say everything was nice. We know what we have to improve.

"We adjusted in the second half a little bit with our pressing which was more how I like.

"Then we created a lot of good opportunities and then we have to make it 2 or 3-0, I think we have this story very often, especially in these games.

"At half-time I said to them, 'guys, this is the big difference at the moment in the league and in Europe, we have clean sheets and if we have them, we have a chance to win games'.

"All in all, I think big respect to the performance of my players.

"It feels at the moment we can win, win, win, but it's always hard working, and it was the big message after the game.

"If we think on Sunday we can go with 99 per cent, then we have not the chance.

"We need again 100 per cent during the next game, and this is the crucial thing. We have to demand of ourselves high, high standards, and this means we have to deliver every three days now 100 per cent to take wins.

"We created some good moments but it's this final calmness on the ball but I think this is something that hopefully Skov helps us with very soon in this, he is a player who can be a good part, I saw this during the week.

"But in general I see a big, big step forward in our performance, I think there's a reason why we have taken a lot of wins and a lot of clean sheets.

"But of course, and this is part of my job, I will also not overlook the chances from the opponent, because we always have minimum one save from our great goalkeeper at the moment to keep us in the game, and that's what we have to minimise."

Six games, one point and 33rd out of 36 teams.

It is all looking fairly bleak for Rangers in the Europa League, a competition they have often thrived in during recent campaigns.

It also looks extremely likely the Ibrox side's European journey will end at the conclusion of the league phase, given they need to make up a six-point deficit on multiple teams in their final two matches.

It is therefore only natural Rangers fans are now chatting among themselves about the prospect of using the upcoming games against Ludogorets and Porto as a chance for Danny Rohl to rest his big hitters as dreams of winning the Scottish Premiership title have become far more realistic.

But if Rangers are to go on and win another top-flight crown, positive results in their next two Europa League fixtures could have a significant impact on what their season looks like next term.

Just like this campaign, whoever wins the Premiership in May is set to go into the Champions League at the final hurdle of qualifying.

It was at that stage Celtic suffered a humiliating defeat to Kairat Almaty earlier this season, but Rangers could avoid that potential nightmare entirely if they secure the title, earning direct passage to club football's top table and the mountain of cash that comes with it.

How? Well, a golden ticket could be presented to the Ibrox club as long as the likely scenario unfolds of this season's Champions League winners automatically qualifying for next term's tournament via their domestic league.

That would mean the club with the best individual coefficient ranking, out of all the domestic champions involved in qualifying, will bypass the daunting play-off round.

As it stands, Rangers are in the box seat to be the potential beneficiary - but Olympiacos, who beat Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday night, are gaining fast.

Rangers are currently on 59.250 five-year coefficient points - and can only increase that tally by taking a minimum of four points from their remaining two matches.

Olympiacos are close behind on 58.5 points and if they beat Ajax away in their remaining Champions League fixture they will almost certainly finish above Rangers in the coefficient rankings.

It would then come down to whether Olympiacos win the Greek Super League. They are currently in third place, two points behind PAOK and AEK Athens but with a game in hand on both.

The Europa League is now little more than a distraction for Rangers as they focus firmly on trying to win domestic silverware.

That said, Thursday's home game against Ludogorets offers an opportunity to recover a modicum of pride from a campaign that has been a monumental let-down, particularly when compared with recent forays deep into the competition.

Without question, Danny Rohl's team are in a good place right now and will be keen to maintain the momentum they have been building in recent weeks to ensure their rekindled title charge continues.

Last weekend's hat-trick will have done Bojan Miovski the world of good, regardless of the opposition.

Many Rangers supporters are hoping to see another striker added to the squad before January is out but an in-form Miovski and an improving Youssef Chermiti could provide sufficient firepower for a serious title tilt if other reinforcements live up to expectations.

The capture of Andreas Skov Olsen could be a masterstroke if he can hit the heights he reached at Club Brugge as Rangers at last fill the void left by Vaclav Cerny.

You would expect there to be one or two more arrivals this month as Rangers tool up for a three-way battle at the top of the Premiership.

But they also need to get a few out the door. Anticipated departures for Joe Rothwell, Kieran Dowell and others have not yet materialised, leaving the squad and wage bill rather bloated.

Supporters will have to wait until the weekend to see the new signings in action but Rohl will hope the existing European squad have enough about them to overcome the Bulgarian champions and earn an overdue victory before next week's much trickier trip to Porto.

Defender Emmanuel Fernandez aims to continue the current feelgood factor at Rangers with the first win of a miserable Europa League campaign.

The Ibrox side have just one point from their six league-phase outings before the visit of Bulgarians Ludogorets on Thursday night.

However, Danny Rohl's men head into the game in fine form having reeled off six successive domestic wins to revive their Premiership title hopes and reach the Scottish Cup fifth round.

Fernandez, signed from Peterborough in the summer, said: "Obviously Europe hasn't gone our way this season but we still need to have a winning mentality as a group.

"Every game we play, we have to give the fans something to be proud of ahead of the next one.

"It's just about winning every single game and seeing where that gets us.

"Personally, I'm really happy. I wasn't playing at the beginning of the season but now I am and we're getting results.

"As a team, I can feel the energy around us. Everyone's smiling, everyone's happy every day.

"But there's still a lot more to come and we can push even more."

Fernandez has praised set-piece coach Scott Fry for making Rangers sharper in both boxes.

Four of Fernandez's five goals this season have come following the appoint of Fry in mid-November.

"I feel like Scott has had a big impact, not just on me but on the team as well," the 24-year-old said.

"We've scored a lot of goals from set-pieces and he's helped defensively too as we're not conceding too many.

"I'm a player who can get in the box and when there's an opportunity to go, I attack it.

"We do set-pieces as a group. Scott understands what I'm good at and what I want to do. He leaves me isolated in scenarios where I only have one player against me - and I can attack.

"I don't really set goal targets, I'm just trying to help the team win games. If that happens (double figures), it happens. I probably feel like I could do that."

Rangers head coach Danny Rohl has been speaking to the media as his side prepare to face Ludogorets in the Europa League at Ibrox on Thursday night.

Here are the main points:

• John Souttar will miss the Ludogorets and Dundee games because of an unspecified short-term injury. Rohl expects him back in the fold from Monday.

Rangers will host Stranraer in the Scottish Cup last-16 after the League 2 part-timers beat Queen's Park in a penalty shoot-out after extra time.

It means there will be no repeat of last season, when the Championship side won 1-0 in a Glasgow derby at Ibrox to advance to the quarter-finals days before Rangers sacked Philippe Clement as manager.

Midfielder Aidan Connolly fired Queen's Park ahead after only 11 minutes at Stair Park, where a lights failure caused a stoppage in play.

However, on-loan Hearts midfielder Dom Plank smashed in the equaliser on the hour mark and neither side could add to the scoring to prevent penalties.

It ended a five-game run without a victory for Chris Aitken's Stranraer, who sit fourth in the fourth tier.

Stranraer will visit the Scottish Premiership club for the first time since they met in the fourth round in 2020, with the hosts prevailing thanks to goals from Scott Arfield and Jermain Defoe.

Rangers have yet to lose to Stranraer in eight meetings, winning seven of them, the one draw coming at Ibrox when the sides were in League 1 in December 2013.

Steven Smith will remain on the Rangers coaching staff for the rest of the season after impressing Danny Rohl.

The former Ibrox defender, 40, stepped up from his academy coaching role to take interim charge for one match - the 2-2 draw with Dundee United - following Russell Martin's sacking.

Smith has since been part of Rohl's backroom team following the German's appointment as head coach in October.

"I am delighted to confirm Steven as part of my coaching team," said Rohl.

"He has impressed me with his ability on and off the training pitch, the way he works with the players and staff, as well as his experience.

"I said it was important to have someone who knows the club and Steven has that. He has played here and brings that knowledge of this unique club to our coaching team."

Rangers must thrive on increasing expectation as they enter the second half of the campaign in title contention, says former midfielder Steven Davis.

Head coach Danny Rohl has dragged his side into a three-way fight for the Premiership crown, going into the weekend six points behind leaders Hearts.

With the Jambos welcoming Celtic to Tynecastle on Sunday, Rangers could be presented with the chance to close the gap at the top further when they host Dundee.

Davis, who won 10 major honours during two spells at Ibrox, says Rohl and his squad must view the growing pressure as a "privilege".

"It's not going to be plain sailing between now and the end of the season, but they've got a fantastic opportunity to get silverware and ultimately, it's on the players," said the former Northern Ireland international.

"I do believe that the squad's starting to look stronger. There's more confidence coming into the team.

"At Rangers, expectation should be there on a weekly basis. In all honesty, it's a different level that a lot of players will have faced before in their career, but it should be seen as a privilege.

"I enjoyed that pressure. It wasn't always easy but you have to thrive on it and see it as a privilege rather than as a negative thing, because it's a huge club. It's got a tradition and history of winning trophies.

"You come to the club wanting to put your own stamp on it and be part of the club's history and ultimately to do that you have to win trophies."

Davis, who had two games in interim charge of Rangers before Philippe Clement was appointed, had been tipped as a contender to join Rohl's backroom team.

"Obviously the coaching staff seems quite settled now," Davis said. "I've seen the rumours and it's obviously something that further down the line, potentially, I would always be open to, because obviously it's a club that's very close to my heart.

"I'm in the process of doing my badges and working with the Northern Ireland national team as well, so I'm really enjoying that. But I didn't hear anything this time, so who knows in the future?"
