    Gateshead have signed defender Alex Lankshear on a one-year contract with an option for an additional year.

    The 23-year-old, who is the older brother of Middlesbrough striker Will Lankshear, played 35 games for Boston United last season before going on loan to Ebbsfleet.

    He cited the presence of manager Lee Cattermole as one of the attractions for the move to the north-east.

    "I'm a defender that loves to defend his goal but also attack the goal," he told the club website, external.

    "One of my goals this year is to get better in attacking. One of the reasons I wanted to come here is that I think he can really develop my game on that side of things.

    "At this stage in my career it's about progressing. He played at the top levels and I feel he can progress me as a player."

    Lankshear could make his debut in Gateshead's first home National League game of the season against Woking on Saturday.

    Boston United have signed striker Lennon Wheeldon, following his release from Championship side Derby County.

    The 20‑year‑old re‑joins the Pilgrims on a one‑year deal, with an option for a second, having previously spent three months on loan at the club during the 2024-25 season.

    Wheeldon also had a loan spell at South Shields last term, making 33 appearances and scoring five goals.

    He made three senior appearances for Derby before his release in May and had been on trial with League Two Northampton Town prior to agreeing his move to Boston.

    Boston United have signed experienced defender Niall Canavan on a one-year contract.

    The 35-year-old former Republic of Ireland under-21 international began his senior career with Scunthorpe United in the Championship.

    He played more than 150 league games for the Iron before moving on to Rochdale, Plymouth Argyle, Bradford City and Barrow.

    Boston United have signed defender Jake Rooney after he was released by Derby County.

    The 22-year-old returns to the Jakemans Community Stadium, having made 16 appearances on loan from the Rams last season as the Pilgrims finished 12th in the National League.

    Boston United have re-signed defender Jamie Grimes on a one-year deal after he was released by Chesterfield.

    The 35-year-old former Spireites captain saw out the final months of his contract with the Derbyshire club by going out on loan to Boston last term.

    He featured 16 times for the Pilgrims as they finished 12th in the National League table.

    Boston United have signed Sheffield United right-back Sai Sachdev on a loan until January.

    The 21-year-old, who had a brief spell in the National League with Oldham Athletic on loan in 2024, has made two senior appearances for the Blades.

    Boston United have signed midfielder Ben Hammond on a two-year deal after he was released by Nottingham Forest.

    The 21-year-old was with the Reds for 13 years, working his way through the club's junior and youth teams before establishing himself as part of Forest's reserves.

    He failed to make a first-team appearance for Forest, but had featured in the English Football League Trophy for their Under-21 side.

    Hammond becomes Boston's 10th signing of a busy summer.

    Boston United have signed goalkeeper Luke Faxon on loan from Championship club Sheffield United until January.

    The 21-year-old moves to the National League side to compete with Louis Chadwick for the number one shirt at the Jakemans Community Stadium.

    Boston United have signed Connor McBride on a one-year deal after Rochdale released the attacking midfielder following their promotion to League Two.

    The 25-year-old, who was on the books at Celtic as a youth player and counts Blackburn Rovers among his former clubs, featured 61 times in the National League across two seasons with Rochdale.

    Boston United have signed Jack Holmes after the versatile midfielder turned down the offer of a new deal with League Two side Rotherham United.

    The 24-year-old, who featured 56 times for the Millers across two seasons, has joined the Pilgrims on a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.

    Boston United have added Buxton defender George Ward to their squad on an initial two-year deal.

    Ward made 39 National League North appearances and scored six goals last season, helping Buxton to reach the play-offs, where they lost to South Shields.

    The 24-year-old, who started out with Leicestershire club Barwell, previously played at the same level for Leamington.

    He becomes the Pilgrims' fifth new arrival of the summer, joining Gavan Holohan, Nicholas Pozo, Kai Mauro and Terrell Agyemang.

    Boston United have signed midfielder Terrell Agyemang from relegated National League side Morecambe.

    He will complete the move on 1 July after his contract with the Shrimps expires.

    Agyemang spent much of last season on loan at Wealdstone, making 30 appearances, the last of them as a late substitute against Southend United in April.

    He is Boston's fourth signing since finishing 12th last season.

    Boston United have signed defender Kai Mauro from Cadiz C - one of the reserve sides that represents the Spanish second division club.

    The 19-year-old is also the second Gibraltar international to join Boston in as many days, following the arrival of midfielder Nicholas Pozo from Lincoln Red Imps.

    Mauro, whose move to the National League side is dependent on international clearance, joins the Pilgrims on a one-year deal that also have a further 12-month option.

    Boston United have signed Gibraltar international midfielder Nicholas Pozo on a one-year deal.

    The 21-year-old featured for Lincoln Red Imps in the Europa Conference League last season after they started their European campaign in the Champions League qualifying rounds.

    Pozo, who has been capped 25 times for his country, has a further one-year option on his deal with the National League side.

    Solihull Moors have signed defender Matty Carson from Boston United.

    The 23-year-old joined Boston from Grimsby before the start of the recent campaign and scored twice in 36 games in all competitions.

    He signed for Reading in the summer of 2023 and played 10 times for the Royals in League One before moving to the Mariners for 2024-25.

    The Burnley academy graduate becomes Moors boss Chris Millington's first signing for the 2026-27 season.

    "We have been aware of Matty since his time at Burnley and we've monitored his progress and performances," Millington told the club website, external.

    "We feel he's at the perfect stage of his career to come and help us push forward with Moors."

    Boston United goalkeeper Louis Chadwick has signed a new one-year contract with the National League club.

    The 23-year-old joined the Pilgrims from King's Lynn Town in March, going on to make two appearances for Boston as they finished in 12th place in the National League table.

    Chadwick started his career with Cambridge United but failed to break into the first team.

    He spent time on loan at St Neots before joining the Linnets in 2025.
