Newcastle United have conceded 4+ goals in back-to-back Premier League away games for the first time since December 2012 (4-3 loss to Man Utd, 7-3 loss to Arsenal).

Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle speaking to Sky Sports post match: "We're frustrated definitely. The lads as well in the dressing room, it's a feeling you don't want to have when you feel as though you should have won. We can only apologise to the fans that took the journey. We need to analysis it clearly, especially in the box, at both ends. The desire and hunger to score, to finish the attacks, that was missing."
On the penalty: "It's something that can happen in football, especially when you're managing a young squad, but there can still be a possibility to go on and win that match. The second goal there was a foul on Joe Willock but it wasn't whistled, in my eyes, he was then missing in that spot where the ball dropped after the throw in. We need to improve the things we can control."
On the timing of the second goal just after half time: "It's never nice to concede a goal but we had the approach after half time to come out and turn it around. The lads believed so we made the first goal and momentum was on our side. That's something also we need to learn that in a risk zone you cannot lose the ball. You cannot invite the opposition to score the third one, then it's going to be difficult."
On concessive 4-1 away defeats: "There's something we need to look at for sure. We need to win these games in the boxes. Defensively we need to improve. On the offensive we need to be more sharp."

Courtesy of Sidiki Cherif (19y 301d) and Stephen Mfuni (18y 242d), Coventry saw two teenagers score in the same Premier League game, with Mfuni the youngest-ever scorer for the club in a competition.
Ellis Simms scored with his first touch, three minutes and 15 seconds after coming off the bench, in what was his 150th appearance for Coventry in all competitions.

Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle told BBC Sport: "That's hard. That's punishment in this league. We controlled many phases but it's not enough.
"In the boxes the games are decided. In both boxes we were not clean.
"It's something we need to learn fast.
"The momentum was there. We have a young squad but that shouldn't be an excuse. It was a tough game in general.
"The injured players are hopefully getting more game minutes. Today if you see the whole picture it was not the worst game. I apologise to fans because they deserved a different result."
On Toure injury: "Let's see. It's too early to say anything. Hopefully it's nothing serious."

Coventry boss Frank Lampard, speaking to Sky Sports: "Very, very satisfying. It's so hard to win. We played like the team that we want to be here. There is so much spirit and energy in the group and we know we are going to have to suffer a lot this season. The work ethic of the boys and the belief, you get what you deserve which is great finishes. We haven't quite had that rub of the green this season that would help us nick more points. It was a complete performance. we have to keep our feet on the ground. It's a great feeling for the players to feel that."
On Sidiki Cherif announcing himself: "Very exciting because he's so young. He's got a really good manner, really good way about him he wants to train, he wants to learn. He's quite quiet but today he showed a lot of personality and dint stop running. There is a lot to come."
On Botman pulling it back to 2-1: "It was a long 20 minutes and it's a fantastic strike but we also did some good defensive work. That was a worry but we started to make some changes and that's when you are asking for good lads that train all week to com on and add to the performance. If we don't have that spirit, we haven't got a chance. We need everybody. A lot of the lads knew that tonight."

Coventry boss Frank Lampard told BBC Sport: "Today we showed a big energy and showed our abilities which we'll have to maximise.
"You have to ride a bit of luck. But they did it. Quality goals went in. Sometimes you have to deserve it.
"Sticking with it [was key]. It's nervy because two is never enough. They were causing us problems. Stay in the game in those moments and the third goal was a big moment for us mentally."
On Cherif and Mfuni: "Their attitude and the way they are is top level. They want to learn. They've settled quickly. Steph is going to be a top player in every sense. Unfortunately he's not ours. He's shown incredible maturity.
"We have to keep our feet on the ground because it's so hard in this league. If you think you have cracked it you haven't.
"Good feeling but don't get over excited. Enjoy the moment."

Former Newcastle defender on BBC Radio Newcastle
We spoke about what we are. There’s going to be ups, there’s going to be downs, it’s going to be one of those seasons.
We were well beaten at Leeds, deserved to be well beat at Leeds. Leeds were by far the better side.
I don’t think the 4-1 scoreline tonight is probably a true reflection of how the game has gone tonight but that just shows where we are.
We had the opportunity. Fourth was there to be grabbed. I said beforehand it’s still early doors but it would have made nice reading seeing a Champions League spot, unfortunately it wasn’t to be and there’s still an awful lot of hard work to be done.

Coventry scorer Jack Rudoni speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a massive night for us, our first home Premier League win in 25 years. We're glad we could score four goals for the fans. We've just got to carry that on now into the next game. That's two wins on the bounce now."
On the first point at home: "Our first two home games didn't go how we wanted, we wanted to do it in front of the fans. We did it all last year in the Championship. We want to make this place a fortress and today showed we can do that."
On the step-up into the Premier League: "There's a lot more quality, we don't have the ball as much, for me personally you have to adapt to maybe more second balls and working in the final third more. Those two wins have definitely given us confidence. We can't wait for Tottenham next week."
On taking penalties: "As soon as he went down I wanted it. A few penalty takers weren't on the pitch. I said to the lads this one is mine."
On his goal celebration dedicated to his nan: "She had a heart attack last week, she's stable and she'll be watching from hospital. I just wanted to dedicate this to her where she'll be watching from."
On his journey up the leagues: "It's been a long journey, I'm the type of person that believes in myself, it was only a matter of time. It's step by step, once I achieve one achievement I'm onto the next."
On where Coventry could finish this season: "If we come in every week with that sort of intensity, you never know where it could take you. The other promoted sides have started strong too."

As a neutral I'm just chuffed for Lampard. Yet again he's doing a cracking job and never seems to get anything but stick. Seems a lovely guy, can do the job and always gives 100%.

Newcastle midfielder Nico Gonzalez told Sky Sports: "We had clear chances to draw. We improved in many things but there are things we have to work on.
"I think it's normal in this league there's always goals in the last minute. Everyone goes forward and it's hard to keep defending as well as the first minutes.
"The result is not what happened in the game. I've seen so many games where it's 2-1 and you draw.
"I don't feel concerned. We've done many things right. It's clear what we have to improve. It's easy to work on because we know the things we need to do better. If we improve them I'm sure we'll do a great season."

Coventry's Bobby Thomas, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a great night for the club. Our first home win was important. It was good playing out there, it felt good. Three points and a good feeling at the moment."
On what he thought when Newcastle pulled it back to 2-1: "When he puts it top corner there's not much you can do there. We stayed calm and stuck to what we believed in and it paid off."
Goalscorer Ellis Simms added: "A great feeling for me. Watching from the bench everyone was putting in a shift, I knew I needed to keep the energy up and make an impact and I did that today."
On scoring on his 150th Sky Blues appearance: "I knew before the game if I got on, 150 to top it off with a goal there is no better feeling."

Soft is the only word to describe Newcastle’s performance tonight! Heads dropped after their 3rd goal, and we let Coventry run away with. Take nothing away from Coventry though, completely took their chances and put us to the sword, well done to the team that wanted it more.

Coventry get a statement win against Newcastle United
Coventry City stunned Newcastle United with an emphatic 4-1 victory as they won their first Premier League game at home in 25 years.
Newcastle goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek hauled down Sidiki Cherif to gift Coventry an early penalty and Jack Rudoni made no mistake with the finish, scoring the club's first goal at home this season to raise the roof at CBS Arena.
It was Coventry's first Premier League goal at their home ground since John Hartson scored in a 1-0 win against Sunderland in April 2001.
The hosts made a lightning-fast start to the second half, too, and teenager Cherif doubled their lead shortly after the restart with a clean finish.
A stunning 70th-minute long-range strike by Sven Botman handed Newcastle a lifeline, but a deflected shot by substitute Ellis Simms put Coventry out of reach - much to the delight of a raucous home crowd.
Stephen Mfuni put the cherry on top with four minutes of normal time remaining when he curled past Hornicek into the top-right corner.
The victory - Coventry's second of the season - lifts them out the relegation zone and up to 14th, where they sit level on points with Manchester United.
Matthias Jaissle's Newcastle remain 11th, with eight points from their opening six games.
Coventry showed energy and quality - Lampard
The international break did not fall kindly for Coventry and they were unable to gather momentum after defeating Nottingham Forest for their first Premier League win since the 2000-01 campaign.
But the hosts could not have asked for a better start on Monday night as Hornicek, under pressure from Ephron Mason-Clark, recklessly parried the ball away before throwing himself at the legs of Cherif.
Newcastle piled on the pressure after Rudoni's opener and Coventry had defender Bobby Thomas to thank for entering the break in front as he made two excellent blocks to deny Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
After scoring just one goal in their opening five games, the floodgates finally opened for Frank Lampard's side and Cherif's piercing finish in the 48th minute ensured Coventry raced out of the blocks again in the second half.
Simms made the most of the advantage given by referee John Brooks, who allowed play to go on after Joelinton clattered into Brandon Thomas-Asante on the edge of the box.
But it was 18-year-old Mfuni's goal that was the pick of the bunch for the hosts as he drove into the penalty area before bending a lovely curling finish past Hornicek.
After difficult tests against Arsenal and Manchester City to start the season, this victory will be all the evidence Lampard and Coventry fans need to prove they have what it takes not only to survive this season, but compete.
Newcastle were not good enough in both boxes - Jaissle
After five years under Eddie Howe, eight points in Newcastle's opening five Premier League games was not a bad start for Jaissle.
But the signs were there from the start that the Magpies lacked a solid defensive base and those weakness were put on show by a ruthless Coventry side.
After Hornicek's early mistake to give away the penalty, Newcastle were left to chase the game and left acres of space for Coventry to counter-attack into.
Cherif was afforded too much time on the ball before he netted the hosts' second, while Joelinton sloppily lost possession as he launched into a tackle before Simms found the target.
It did not help that Newcastle wasted the numerous chances they had in front of goal.
Fernandez-Pardo had a golden opportunity to tap in an equaliser in the first half from close range, but dummied Jacob Murphy's pass and there was no-one arriving behind to convert.
And the Belgian was not clinical or fast enough to find a way past Thomas later on.
Jaissle will need to come up with a quick solution to solve the issues at both ends of the pitch before his team host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday (17:30 BST).
