Liverpool 2-1 Atletico Madrid
Paul Robinson
Former Tottenham and Leeds goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 LiveI'm really surprised that Ngumoha has come off because he's been exceptional in the second half. He had the beating of both players who were trying to double up on him on the right side. He was excellent tonight and unfortunate to get substituted.

Former Tottenham and Leeds goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 LiveBrilliant strike. It had to be him. He has dominated the headlines for the last two days by asking for a contract and that's how you go about it. A thunderbolt from 25 yards.
He opens himself up, hits it first time hard and low. A brilliant finish.

YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:10 BST 9 September
Liverpool 2-1 Atletico Madrid
It's all happening now as Rio Ngumoha runs Marc Pubill and the Atleti man has a swipe.
Yellow card for you, sir.
Ferran Torres scored a hat-trick as Paris St-Germain got their Champions League title defence off to a winning start against Slovan Bratislava.
Spanish World Cup winner Torres joined from Barcelona in the summer and made an impact on his European debut for the French club, adding three goals after Ousmane Dembele had put the hosts in control with two goals in six first-half minutes.
Ballon d'Or winner Dembele got PSG off the mark after 17 minutes, slotting home the rebound after Nuno Mendes' ferocious effort crashed off the post.
Slovan, who are managed by former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, were punished for playing out from the back six minutes later as Dembele headed in from Dro Fernandez's deflected cross.
The scorer of the opening two goals then turned provider for his new team-mate, lifting a teasing cross into the six-yard box and leaving Torres with a tap-in at the near post.
Torres scored his second two minutes after the break, lashing home brilliantly after a clever run and lay-off by Maghnes Akliouche, and then completed his hat-trick when he turned in Dembele's corner from inside a packed penalty box.
Suleiman Camara added a consolation goal for the visitors, drifting into the six-yard box and shifting on to his right foot before unleashing into the top corner.
Fabian Ruiz added gloss late in the game though, drilling into the far corner in a much-needed performance from PSG, who have yet to win a game in Ligue 1 this season, drawing twice and lost once.
They are in unfamiliar territory, sitting 13th in the French league, but such an emphatic win in Europe will surely give them confidence that a Champions League three-peat is possible.

Match Facts
The only previous meetings between Paris SG and Slovan Bratislava came in the 2011-12 UEFA Europa League group stage; the French side drew 0-0 away before winning 1-0 at home, thanks to a Javier Pastore goal.
None of the last 35 reigning European Cup/UEFA Champions League champions have lost their opening game of the following campaign when starting with a home match (W27 D8), since Celtic’s defeat to Dynamo Kyiv in the 1967-68 season (1-2).
Slovan Bratislava’s most recent UEFA Champions League campaign was 2024-25, when they lost all eight of their matches by an aggregate score of 7-27. Paris SG were the team with the most wins in that edition (11), going on to lift their first ever European Cup/Champions League.
Slovan Bratislava boss Yaya Touré is set to become the first African manager to participate in the UEFA Champions League (Ivorian). As a player, he made 70 appearances in the competition and lifted the trophy once (in 2008-09 with Barcelona).
Paris SG boss Luis Enrique has won 63% of his UEFA Champions League games as manager (50/79), the highest win percentage of any individual to oversee 50+ matches.
Of the 36 teams involved in the UEFA Champions League in 2025-26, eventual winners Paris SG had the third youngest starting XI in terms of average age (24y 328d), only behind Chelsea (24y 82d) and Club Brugge (24y 286d).
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been directly involved in 21 goals in his last 24 UEFA Champions League appearances (13 goals, 8 assists), including 16 in 16 games last season (10 goals, 6 assists), which was the most by a Paris SG player in a single edition.
Tigran Barseghyan has been directly involved in three goals in his last four UEFA Champions League appearances (1 goal, 2 assists). He led all Slovan Bratislava players for goal involvements (3), assists (2) and chances created (10) in their previous tournament appearance in 2024-25.
Vitinha’s 1,589 passes completed in 2025-26 were the most by a player in a single UEFA Champions League edition on record (since 2003-04). His 238 line-breaking passes were also the most by any individual in the previous edition.
Willian Pacho has played more minutes than any other player across the last two seasons in the UEFA Champions League (3,102), including starting in all 34 of Paris SG’s games in the competition in this period.
