Nottingham Forest winger Dilane Bakwa has joined Lille on loan for the season.

The forward, who turns 24 today, cost Forest £30m when he arrived from Strasbourg last summer.

But he only made six Premier League starts, as Forest went through four managers and finished 16th in the table.

Bakwa made 24 appearances in all competitions, without scoring, and joins Lille after they finished third in Ligue 1 last season to qualify for the Champions League.

Manchester United youngsters James Overy and Louis Jackson are on the brink of leaving the club.

Overy is close to returning to Australia with A League outfit Sydney FC, while Jackson is in talks with Scottish Premiership side St Mirren.

Eighteen-year-old Overy was born in Perth, played for Australia at last season's Under-20 World Cup and received his first senior international call-up in November.

He joined United in 2024 and featured at Under-21 level last term. He was also part of the FA Youth Cup final squad beaten by Manchester City in May.

However, Overy was a notable absentee when United opened their Premier League 2 campaign with a 5-0 victory against Ipswich at Leigh on 24 August.

Jackson will have a medical with St Mirren on Thursday before completing his move.

The 20-year-old Oldham-born defender is a Scottish youth international and was part of United's 2022 FA Youth Cup-winning side.

He spent part of last season on loan with National League outfit Solihull Moors.

It is understood both deals will include sell-on and buy-back clauses.

Chelsea have made contact with the representatives of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez. The Blues are considering their options at this time.

Martinez faces an uncertain future at Villa Park after a proposed move to Juventus collapsed earlier this summer and the club signed Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma.

Suzuki was on the bench for Sunday's 4-0 defeat at Brighton, with Marco Bizot in the starting XI.

Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso was also asked about Pedro Neto's best position and future with the Portugal international linked with a move away:

"Wing-back, winger, you can call it whatever you want. The main thing is the quality of the players and we have balance.

"I won't go into too much detail about conversations. We want to have the best possible squad and let's see what happens."

Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso on the fitness of Moises Caicedo and new signing Marco Pallestra, who missed Monday's Premier League opener at Fulham:

"Not both for tomorrow. Let's see, hopefully Moi can make it for the weekend. We need to check a little bit more with Marco."

Alonso added he has no new injury concerns after the win at Craven Cottage and that Cole Palmer is fine after limping off in the second half.

Chelsea

Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso has confirmed Enzo Fernandez will be in the squad for tomorrow's game against Luton despite reports Manchester City are preparing a bid for the Argentina midfielder.

Alonso: "He is training well. He is a great professional and he will be involved."

On whether he will still be at the club after the transfer deadline: "We want the best team possible, we know his qualities. We have to wait, but we think about tomorrow and let's see how things develop."

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has been speaking to the media ahead of his side's League Cup tie against Luton Town tomorrow night.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Pierre Sage on new loanee Axel Disasi: “Now it’s official, so it’s good news for us. Especially with what happened with Chadi [Riad]. That’s why it’s important for us he arrived quickly.

“He is ready. He had his first session with us today.

"We will see if he’s able to play on Friday he didn’t play in collective conditions during the beginning of the season, but he’s a football player, and we have the opportunity to help him with time to come in the team.

“He gave us the confidence with his experience. He’s able to play well with the ball and he’s able to defend in different positions in the back three, that’s why he’s a good addition for us.”

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Pierre Sage on Ismaila Sarr's injury: “Ismaila Sarr is injured. He is in pain with his groin - that’s why you didn’t see him [train] with us today.

“But we’ll prepare him - he needs time. I thought it would be quicker but I am not medical [staff] – that’s why I wait for him, and we’ll prepare him to come back with us.”

On Chadi Riad injury: “For the moment we need more advice from a specialist, because it’s always difficult to give a good schedule for this kind of thing. That’s why I prefer to wait, and to give you an official position.”

Jean-Philippe Mateta is arguing the remainder of his Crystal Palace contract is invalid and has taken his case to Fifa.

Multiple sources have told BBC Sport the France international has launched an official challenge over the validity of the final 10 months on his Selhurst Park deal, which expires in June 2027.

Mateta - who started Palace's Premier League opener at Everton on Saturday - signed for the club in 2021 from Mainz 05, initially on an 18-month loan.

The striker signed a four-and-half year contract when joining permanently in January 2022, in a deal that also included the option of a 12-month extension.

Palace activated that option in 2024, meaning Mateta's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.

But the 29-year-old is claiming the final year of his contract - the optional extra year - should be void and it is understood Mateta's case was heard by an independent tribunal under the Premier League's rules.

While there has been no official confirmation of the outcome, it understood Mateta's contract remained binding.

He has since taken his argument to world football governing body Fifa, who ruled earlier this week that overruling the contract was not within its jurisdiction.

The Athletic have reported that an offer from Aston Villa for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta is well below the 29-year-old's valuation, with Foot Mercato reporting that Villa are on the verge of agreeing a 70m euros (£59.8m) deal to sign Chelsea and Senegal striker Nicolas Jackson.

A striker to replace the likely departure of Ollie Watkins seems to be the main goal.

If Ollie Watkins is to leave Aston Villa, it seems as though Jean-Philippe Mateta could be the man brought in to replace the England international at Villa Park.

Mateta has recently put together a legal case that the final 12 months of his contract at Crystal Palace are invalid, raising doubts over his long-term future at Selhurst Park.

Perhaps the very real pain at this potential Ollie Watkins break-up is the reason for the difficulties.

The 30-year-old has 108 goals in 278 games for Villa after joining from Brentford for a then-record £28m and has been synonymous with Villa's rise of the past six years.

The triumphant night in Istanbul, when Watkins helped Villa end their 30-year wait for a trophy as they beat Freiburg to win the Europa League, currently stand as a crowning glory.

His departure would be the most emotional of this summer's big exits - as while Ezri Konsa's influence was crucial, Watkins' goals, work-rate and nature made him one of Villa's poster boys.

He is a grounded and family-orientated individual who enjoys the occasional game of golf but always focuses on his football.

But he has been in this position before, although at a lower level.

Having initially been left out by Paul Tisdale at Exeter amid interest from Derby in 2017, he pleaded with the manager to play and came off the bench to score in a win against Wycombe.

Given he has that attitude and desire, those at Villa are surprised at how the relationship with Watkins is ending. It was not expected to be like this.

Al-Hilal, who have offered close to £40m, are not near to Aston Villa's asking price for Ollie Watkins. As next Tuesday's transfer deadline nears, Villa will play hardball for their all-time record Premier League goalscorer.

A deal is still believed to be some way off, even if Emery revealed last week the striker could leave.

Al-Hilal, who signed Crysensio Summerville from West Ham in July, are likely to need to move one of their overseas players to make room for Watkins, despite loaning Darwin Nunez to Diriyah last week, so there are other moving parts in the deal.

Watkins has been training on his own, having returned from an extended break following the World Cup and is understood to have made his feelings clear to the Villa hierarchy about moving.

There have been no public comments from Watkins or his representatives but he is understood to be open to the move.

They have also kept quiet about Emery's response - particularly his enigmatic "silence" answer to Sky Sports' question on why his striker was not involved at Brighton, which appeared to lay the blame at Watkins' door.

Nick: Why haven't Liverpool put their attention on a top young right winger, like Rayan, instead of chasing left-sided Bradley Barcola?

They've known since May that Mohamed Salah was leaving and, change in coach or not, Liverpool look neglectful and desperate leaving it to the last week (especially with the other issues).

Rayan is simply not available having only joined Bournemouth in January. Neither he, nor the Cherries, would accept a move. It's clear there is a bit of a shortage of achievable top level winger signings in the transfer market so they are coming at a premium.
