West Bromwich Albion have completed the signing of French central defender Brayann Pereira for a fee in the region of £1m on a four-year deal.

Albion will now focus their attentions on bringing in a striker before the 11pm deadline, but time is running out.

Rumours linking them with former frontman Brandon Thomas-Asante from Coventry City are wide of the mark, BBC Sport understands.

“Eiran is going to a club he knows well, that will help him settle quickly and we look forward to seeing him progress over the coming season,” said Brighton sporting director Mike Cave.

  5. 'Mid-game announcement would be incredible'published at 19:26 BST

There has been a lot of talk initially around Arsenal being interested in Louis Page, but it appears that Manchester United have been able to move a little further ahead in those discussions and negotiations.

It would appear that a deal is perhaps still on the cards despite Louis being in Leicester City's starting XI and the deadline just hours away.

That, I guess, shows you modern-day football and what it's like. Has he done a medical? We don't know. Will he do a medical? We don't know.

When will it get announced? We don't know. Could it be announced mid-game? We don't know. That would be incredible.

The money that has been discussed with me is significant. This is a bigger deal than the Jeremy Monga deal to Manchester City [£10m plus add-ons], which I suppose shows where Leicester's valuation is on Louis Page and how good he will go on to be.

From what I'm told, it also includes a significant sell-on clause for Leicester City should Louis Page move on from Manchester United a little further down the line. That is where the negotiations are currently.

The other key detail is that should Louis Page move to Manchester United, there is a lot of discussion - and, I think, an expectation from Leicester City - that he will return to the Foxes on loan for the rest of this season.

It's a brilliant advert for why the end of the transfer window shouldn't be on the same day as games. There should be no games played on it.

Please tell me why Wolves owners Fosun think we don’t need to buy anyone when we have money in the bank from the winter window.

As far as West Ham are concerned, at least we don't have the usual over-the-hill expensive has-beens we are used to. Forget promotion - at least we have a young group who want to play for the club. Engels is 12 million quid better than Potts.

Usual lack of support from the dismal Cardiff City board. We have a fantastic manager in Brian Barry-Murphy and an excellent young squad. All we needed was two experienced heads - a striker and winger. Currently, we'll be left struggling, IMO. Tan out!

Saints fan here. We’ve done good business this summer but, as George said earlier (17:11), Ramsdale is on about 70k a week, playing for the U21s and is clearly not in Eckert’s plans. Hopefully some good can be done with the proceeds of the sales of Harwood-Bellis and Charles.

I fear for Cardiff if Yousef Salech gets injured. There's no-one in the squad to replace him. We must get a striker in today.

    Anthony Tanner, Cardiff

Not for the first time, fans have been disappointed about Cardiff's end to a transfer window. After extending Barry-Murphy's contract, it left a lot of hope that he would be properly backed. Any injury and the team will be stretched. Long season ahead.

    Craig Garner, Cardiff

Cardiff's last few weeks have been an absolute shambles. The board are not fit to run a football club of this size. We have made four signings over three months, two of whom were on loan last season. We have the squad depth of a Sunday League team. Shocking. Board out.

    Brian Kerr, Cardiff

If we don’t sign anyone, the board have failed Cardiff once again.

West Ham need to lose wantaway players like Alvarez and Todibo. One down, one to go! Then hope we can sign young and talented lads instead. It’s up to Nuno to give them a chance. Play more positively and on the front foot. COYI.

    Guy Saunders, North Yorkshire

How is it that West Ham fans have seen for years the woeful weakness in defence but the management is blind to it? They hollow out an already-weak defence by removing Diouf and Todibo, yet no replacements? Really? How do we get promoted without a defence?

    Steve Wade, Cornwall

Good riddance, Tobido. Can’t believe he doesn’t fancy Stoke away! Really do need a centre-back now. Also - anyone know what Payet is up to?

    Joseph, Stratford

Dimitri Payet retired in March aged 38, having left Vasco da Gama at the end of the previous season. The playmaker rejoined Marseille from West Ham in January 2017, later saying he had been "bored" with the Hammers' defensive style in midtable in the Premier League.
