West Ham need to lose wantaway players like Alvarez and Todibo. One down, one to go! Then hope we can sign young and talented lads instead. It’s up to Nuno to give them a chance. Play more positively and on the front foot. COYI.

    Guy Saunders, North Yorkshire

How is it that West Ham fans have seen for years the woeful weakness in defence but the management is blind to it? They hollow out an already-weak defence by removing Diouf and Todibo, yet no replacements? Really? How do we get promoted without a defence?

    Steve Wade, Cornwall

Good riddance, Tobido. Can’t believe he doesn’t fancy Stoke away! Really do need a centre-back now. Also - anyone know what Payet is up to?

    Joseph, Stratford

Dimitri Payet retired in March aged 38, having left Vasco da Gama at the end of the previous season. The playmaker rejoined Marseille from West Ham in January 2017, later saying he had been "bored" with the Hammers' defensive style in midtable in the Premier League.

RE my comment at 15:55: Bromley's X post was very ominous.

    Charlie Wright, Nottingham

Bad luck, Charlie. The Notts County fan had been hoping his side would hold on to winger Jodi Jones, who has now joined Bromley for an undisclosed fee. Perhaps the Magpies can provide some consolation by continuing their unbeaten start to the League One season away to Doncaster Rovers tonight (19:45 BST).

Where are all the new West Ham players we were promised? Just like every other time, it's just more lies to sell season tickets. Hand the money back.

    Dave Finn, Kent

All quiet at Ewood Park. When they do try to make a move, you can guarantee somebody forgets to plug the fax machine in, as usual. I hope I am made to eat my words but it doesn’t look promising.

    Keith Eddleston, Blackpool

Everyone at Leyton Orient is working very hard to sign one or two players before the transfer window closes. I have been supporting since they were in the National League and I have watched them progress up the league. Tonight, we are away to Bromley.

    Paul, London

Orient spent two seasons in the fifth tier until 2019, then won promotion again from League Two in 2023. They'll attempt to extend their away record to three wins in all competitions tonight (19:45 BST) - you can follow all the EFL action live with us.

As a Saints fan, I feared the worst after the idiocy of Spygate. But I think we’ve done well to hold on to as many players as we have - though I cannot fathom why Aaron Ramsdale is still at the club, and we don’t seem to be replacing Taylor Harwood-Bellis!

    George, Gloucester

Massively disappointed by Millwall's sale of Femi Azeez. Even though the signs were there, you always want to keep hold of talent.
