Laura Berry pounced on Lee Gibson's slip to score the equaliser

Rangers came from a goal behind to beat Glasgow City and go five points clear at the top of the Scottish Women's Premier League thanks to a wonderful winner from Katie Wilkinson.

The striker spotted Lee Gibson, who was also at fault for the equaliser, out of her goal and out of position and lofted a 30-yard drive over the stranded Scotland goalkeeper's head.

City had taken the lead in this Glasgow derby slightly against the run of play just after the half-hour mark following a mazy run from Emily Whelan.

It took her into the six-yard box and, when her thumping drive was parried by goalkeeper Shu Ohba, fellow forward Kelly Brady was on hand to fire a close-range finish into roof of net.

City grew into the game and started to exert control, but 10 minutes after the break, Gibson let Eilidh Austin's low cross bounce off her chest and forward Laura Berry prodded it into the unguarded net.

Nine minutes later, Gibson was caught out again and, although they piled on some late pressure, defeat almost certainly delivers a terminal blow to the 16-time record winners' title hopes for another season.

Rangers, who have won all nine league games, are now five points clear of reigning champions Heart of Midlothian, who leapfrogged Celtic after a 4-2 win across the city, while City languish a further four points behind.
