It's really important to keep the football in the early stages otherwise you give the other team confidence.

Wolves try to bundle their way forward and into the area, which is met with huge roars of anticipation, but it bobbles through for West Brom goalkeeper Max O'Leary and he's able to thump it clear.

West Brom are on the ball in their own half early doors. A chorus of boos rings around Molineux.
Wonder how long the home support will keep that up?

Re: Chris, Hitchin (11:49) - I agree with this, I think Peixoto has made a bad mistake using those big players midweek, especially when wolves have been shaky recently.

The sun is shining over Molineux, but that might be where the niceties end between these two sides.
Both sets of players have taken to the pitch. Mandatory handshakes before they go hammer and tong at each other any minute now.

West Bromwich Albion
Image source, Getty ImagesWest Bromwich Albion boss James Morrison is no stranger to a Black Country derby, having spent 12 years at the club as a player between 2007 and 2019.
The 40-year-old says today is a chance for his players to make a name for themselves.
"I've been here long enough, I've been in games like this before and I can feel the passion through everyone," he told BBC Radio WM.
"I believe that these are the games that you want to be involved in.
"The outcome can be really positive for the players and myself. You can cement special places and people with performances and incidents in these games."
Morrison also said he's "really calm" despite the anticipation for this fixture.
He added: "We go into the game wanting us to play our game, how we've been doing. I'll be disappointed if we don't play like we've been playing previously."

"We put on videos on at the club so all the players understand what this derby is to our supporters, to our club," Peixoto told BBC Radio WM.
"I’ve played in derbies around the world and I know what the feeling is. It's an important game for us.
"We're going to do everything to try to win the game, to make our supporters happy.
"I hope it's an amazing game because West Brom is a good team and started well in the Championship.

West Bromwich Albion
West Bromwich Albion fans will not be counting their chickens just yet.
They have been there, done that and worn the t-shirt when it comes to enjoying strong starts only for things to seriously tail off.
The Baggies had 11 points at this stage of last season and only narrowly avoided relegation, while in 2024-25 they had 16 points after seven games - two more than they have now - but slumped to finish ninth.
James Morrison has been doing an excellent job since taking over in February, with just three defeats in 20 Championship games (W8 D9).
With West Brom challenging at the top of the table early on this season, Albion fans will be hoping this is not another false dawn.
What better way would there be to show it isn't than with a victory today?

Image source, Getty ImagesWolves have won just one of their past three Championship games, though that did come in their most recent league outing at Sheffield United as Raul Jimenez scored a last-minute winner for a 1-0 victory.
They will be without Jimenez today though after he picked up an injury in the 1-0 EFL Cup defeat at Everton in midweek.
Just how much that impacts Cesar Peixoto's side remains to be seen but if they fail to beat their fierce rivals, Wolves will have won fewer than half of their Championship games since relegation from the Premier League.
The objective for Wolves this season is to return straight back to the top flight, where they've spent the previous eight campaigns.
Victory today against both a local rival and direct rival for the promotion and play-off places at the moment would lay down a nice marker.
It would be just the third time since April 2025 that Wolves have managed back-to-back league wins should they come out on top.

Kieran Trippier returns to the side and captain Toti Gomes starts at centre-back.
Jackson Tchatchoua drops to the bench but Ladislav Krejci misses out with injury, as does Raul Jimenez.
Bertrand Traore and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde are among the subs for Wolves for the first time this season.

George Campbell, Harry Whitwell, Ousmane Diakite and Jimmy-Jay Morgan all come in.

Today's derby against Wolves means different things depending on what generation of Albion supporter you are.
For an older generation, their main rivals are Aston Villa.
There are fewer than four miles between Villa Park and The Hawthorns, so that makes sense geographically.
However, younger fans view Wolves as the main enemy.
It's a rivalry that grew in passion and venom in the 1980s and 1990s when the Baggies were in a lower division than Villa and clashed with Wolves more often.
However, because both teams have yo-yoed between the second tier and the Premier League, there have been just six league meetings in the past 17 years.
Despite that, the hostility between blue and white and old gold has not waned.

Image source, ShutterstockTwo silver linings for Wolves fans were identified when they were relegated from the Premier League.
No longer being exposed to VAR, obviously, was viewed as a release. The other was the return of the Black Country derby.
That framing has been just fine until now. With the day upon us, a more nuanced picture is clear.
The derby is a great addition to Wolves' calendar, indeed it may play an outsize part in their season by giving them a huge injection of positive energy, if they win.
The unspoken part is that the inverse is also true. For some years Wolves have been able to look down from the Premier League at Albion.
Losing to them now they are back on the same level would make the loss of that status even harder to accept.

Image source, Getty ImagesWolves ran out 2-0 winners over West Brom at The Hawthorns the last time these two side met in the FA Cup fourth round in January 2024.
That game was marred by crowd trouble, with play halted for 38 minutes while supporters clashed in the stands.
Both sets of fans have been issued warnings by their clubs before today's encounter that there will be serious consequences for anyone involved in violence and disorder.
Back on the pitch, Albion are undefeated in the four games before that defeat by Wolves in the FA Cup (W3 D1), dating back to a 3-1 loss at Molineux in May 2011.
Wolves have, in fact, won just two of the past nine Black Country derbies against the Baggies (D3 L5) - and only one of their previous eight league meetings (D3 L4).

Norwich City have won six of their last eight league games against Bolton Wanderers (D1 L1), with this their first since doing the double over the Trotters in 2018-19.
Bolton have lost four of their last five league visits to Norwich (D1) since a 2-0 victory in November 2000 under Sam Allardyce.
Norwich haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 14 league games; in England’s top four tiers, only Preston (22), Chelsea (20), and Burnley (15) are on longer ongoing runs.
Bolton could lose three consecutive away league games for the first time since January 2022 (run of 7).
Since his league debut in February, only Cyle Larin (15) has scored more goals in the Championship than Norwich’s Mohamed Touré (13), while no player in that time has more goal involvements (16).
