We are not used to this weather in Ireland, but it has certainly helped to add to the build-up ahead of this big match!

We were treated to some great finals over the summer at Croke Park, known as the home of Gaelic Games, including when Mayo became All-Ireland champions for the first time in 75 years.

There will be plenty of people in Ireland still celebrating that success but, tonight, bragging rights between the Roses rivals are on the line in this historic game.

Manchester United have recently announced a training kit sponsorship with gambling firm Betway.

Some fans are not happy about it but United officials feel it is a legitimate deal given sponsorships with betting companies are not banned, even if you can't wear them on the front of a match shirt in the Premier League any more.

However, as a 15-year-old, United forward JJ Gabriel is not allowed to wear the logo on his training kit.

Unless either side reaches the EFL Cup final or the FA Cup semi-finals, or Manchester United play Barcelona or Real Madrid in a Champions League away game this season, tonight is set to be the biggest crowd either side play in front of this season.

In terms of European stadiums, only the Nou Camp, Wembley and the Bernabeu are bigger than Croke Park's 82,300 capacity.

It's a big night for Leeds' record signing James Trafford.

The England goalkeeper makes his first appearance since making a move from Manchester City that could eventually cost Leeds a club record £45m.

Whites boss Daniel Farke is clearly still working on a few things, with star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, central defender Joe Rodon and skipper Ethan Ampadu all on the bench.

As expected, England duo Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, plus Argentina's Lisandro Martinez all sit out tonight's penultimate pre-season game after only just returning to training after the World Cup.

Mason Mount, Harry Maguire and goalkeeper Tom Heaton are missing through injury, while Senne Lammens and Diogo Dalot, who is captain, make their first starts of the campaign.

Interestingly, 15-year-old JJ Gabriel and new signing Tynan Thompson are on the bench.

There was a time, not that long ago, when even going to watch 'English' games - association football and rugby union - would be a block to gain membership of the Gaelic Athletic Association.

Croke Park itself was the scene of a reprisal attack by British forces in 1920, when 14 people, including Tipperary player Michael Hogan, were killed.

The ban on association football and rugby union being played here was lifted in 2007 when Lansdowne Road, was pulled down and the Aviva Stadium was built in its place.

Nevertheless, this will be the first time any English soccer team has played here.

It's not a day for scarves of any variety in Dublin today, so I'm not sure what the market will be for these anyway.

But optimistic merchandise sellers have given fans the option anyway.

I am not sure whether any traditional Leeds or Manchester United fans will be buying them - but it is a historic occasion.

Manchester United's first four pre-season friendlies all came in the Nordic countries - Finland, Norway and Sweden.

They lost to Wrexham, beat Rosenborg and Atletico Madrid and drew with PSG.

Leeds went to the United States and also lost to Wrexham, before beating Sunderland and Liverpool. They then beat Leipzig at home.

This is Arsenal's final pre-season friendly before they take on Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday.

The Gunners have beaten Girona and Borussia Dortmund and lost to Real Betis this summer.

This game is being played at Croke Park, which is the home of Ireland's Gaelic games.

The only other football matches ever played at the iconic Dublin stadium were Republic of Ireland fixtures from 2007 to 2009 when Lansdowne Road was being redeveloped.

One of the biggest stadiums in Europe, with a capacity of 82,300, Croke Park will not host any games at Euro 2028.
