Arsenal

Arsenal boss Renee Slegers speaking to Sky Sports: "Frustrated we didn't get the ball in to the goal. Very disappointed for the fans because they kept on going and we wanted to give the win to them. First half, we were feeling each other out and second half we created a lot more momentum. The players coming on for us had a big impact."

On Olivia Smith: "Very good, everything she showed us today is why we brought her to arsenal so, we are really happy she's with us. She's had some niggles and knocks and she's getting back to match fitness and she did really well today."

On Spurs: "They've changed from last season. They're more aggressive, more front footed and I expected them to be more aggressive in the beginning but they weren't. They were very brave in their play."

On what to work on: "We managed moments much better today in the game, so we improved from Bayern so that was positive but you need to capitalise and we didn't do that today so we'll have a look at both boxes."

Tottenham Hotspur

More from Tottenham manager Martin Ho speaking to Sky Sports: "Arsenal's fluidity comes down the left side. We tried to deny that slightly. You're trying to deny their players the opportunities to get into the game and I thought we did that most of the time. We tried to nullify their threat.

"Any game we go into now we've got to go and be competitive. I don't want us to be a team that sits off the top three teams. I want us to lift pressure and force people back.

"If we want to progress and evolve we know we have to add depth to the squad. We want to add different profiles and add to parts where we're missing at the moment. If we want to be a top team and compete in all the competitions we've got to add squad depth.

"I'm enjoying it for now, yeah. The competitiveness of the league is definitely much higher now. At times you have to give yourself a reality check and see just how far you've come, but you've got to stay on the tracks and if we fall we have to get right back there.

"There's a lot of expectation on Spurs because we know last year we were not where we wanted to be."

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Martin Ho speaking to Sky Sports: "Really good, it was nerve-wracking at times but I enjoyed it. The record crowd, the performance from the players, I couldn't have asked for more.

"The fans aren't asking for perfection, they're just asking for an energy, a work rate a desire, when you do that you'll lift the crowd and bring more fans to the ground more often.

"I said to the players all week that you can either be really reckless and play on emotion, or you could take the emotion out of the game. I thought our adjustments were good and we played through Arsenal really well."

"It takes a little bit of courage and bravery in the forward line. We have some young players in our forward line. A lot of our players are trying to assist more than finish. It's a big confidence thing for those younger players to take responsibility.

"I thought there were opportunities to break a few times but maybe the players wanted to take the sting out of it a little bit and take the emotions out of it. We had some higher regains and we had some moments. I thought our pressure higher was really good but maybe we could have broken forward a bit more in some of those moments."

Brighton manager Dario Vidosic speaking to Sky Sports: "It took us a little bit of time to get into the game. We were our own worst enemies in the early minutes. Once we sort of settled down, we were the dominant side and deserved the win.

"It was just settling the nerves, coming to the Amex. Once we found our feet and made a few adjustments, we took full control. I loved the reaction from the players, we got the control back and we can celebrate the three points.

"It's all about trying to get players into good positions. Maelys [Mpome] and Marisa [Olislagers] coming in to score. The more people we can get into such good areas, we have more chances to score."

Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Natalia Arroyo speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a difficult game to play. We were forced to do a substitution at the end of the warm-up because Anna Patten was not feeling alright. Maybe that affects the first actions because after the first minute we were trying to settle, we concede the goal, and it was hard to find the rhythm.

"We were not very smart, playing too central and allowing them to counterattack. We were a slower rhythm that was better for them than us. The second half we had a plan to adjust some of things but then they scored. Credit to them. They are an experienced team - maybe not in the team but with players who have had massive careers and today they gave us a lesson on how to take three points by being super smart.

"I think we defended in some aspects very good but maybe we could create more options to win the ball higher with some actions. We were not amazing there. They also took advantage of second balls from set pieces so I feel we can be strong and better. They were super effective at the start of the second half. When you are not scoring goals and conceding three you do not deserve to win the game."

London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses boss Jocelyn Precheur speaking to Sky Sports: "A very important win for us. If you look at the results of Villa since the beginning of the season it is not easy to beat them so to get three point at Villa Park is very satisfying. It was a tough game and the difference was maybe some details.

"This season I really want to put my staff under the light with set-pieces because they have a big part. This win helps us keep the dynamic and helps the team to keep improving. We have things we still need to improve which is part of the process. We cannot be perfect in just a few months. The fact we get three points gives me time to make this team keep improving.

"We need to be more consistent because the mistake we made today could have made the difference. We know Saki Kumagai is very good with her head. Sometimes we forget it but I think she reminded everyone how smart she can be. The two people in my staff who take care of the set-pieces deserve credit also."

London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses midfielder Saki Kumagai: "I am so happy and a huge three points for us. My first goal in WSL as well so I'm happy. It was maybe not the perfect game for us but our mentality we could concentrate to the end of the game.

"We expect more and more and we want to compete for the Champions League [places] of course. We are building more and more."

Before we hear from the managers at Brisbane Road, let's first touch on London City Lionesses, who claimed a big 3-1 win at Villa Park earlier.

Arsenal

Arsenal winger Caitlin Foord speaking to Sky Sports: "Frustrating. We came here to get the three points but we leave with a point. Credit to Spurs today they were solid. It's tough to play Spurs away but it was an even game I guess."

On Spurs: "They got numbers back and made it difficult for us in the box. We couldn't find the back of the net today so I guess they went out to do that and they succeeded in that way."

On Real Madrid on Wednesday: "It's a massive game for us, ultimately we need to score goals we need the end product so we'll be looking to go into that game to score and get the three points."

I tend to agree Anthony, it does already look a long way back for Arsenal.

Eight points off City and five off reigning champions Chelsea after just nine games.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham defender Clare Hunt speaking to Sky Sports: "We were really solid, we had chances in the first half as well. The girls were getting on the ball and moving it forward. Olivia Holdt, Tilly Vinberg, Drew Spence - some really great attacking football as well. Really proud of the group. A big bounce back from last week and looking to go again.

"We've come a long way since last year it's a completely different side in terms of mentality and we're really happy with our first eight or nine games."

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham midfielder Drew Spence speaking to Sky Sports: "The whole team battled so well. It was a great, sold defensive performance. After the disappointment from last week, it was important for us that we gained that momentum again and it was an important point in our journey.

"I think he [Martin Ho] has shifted our mindset. I think last year, we didn't compete as much as we should have done especially against the top four or five so that's been a massive shift for us this year."

Right, let's get some reaction from today's results shall we? Starting with the north London derby.

A point apiece for Tottenham and Arsenal leaves the table in the same shape as it was pre-kick off.

Both sides miss the chance to nick third spot off United, and more importantly the Gunners lose further ground in the title race.

They now sit EIGHT points off Man City at the summit.

Arsenal will be frustrated in the fact they weren't able to convert those chances. Load of missed chances from the likes of Stina Blackstenius and Alessia Russo.

What is this going to say about them, moving into the game against Real Madrid as well? Try to rebound and pull themselves out of this dip of form. A tough one to take. Some disheartened looking Arsenal players down there.
