  1. 'Another positive for Liverpool but there is plenty to work on'published at 22:05 BST 20 October

    Liverpool 4-3 Villarreal

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on Amazon Prime

Liverpool's first 35 minutes were awful. They were so negative, second to everything, 2-0 down and then somehow they clawed their way back and for 10 minutes they were better.

Iraola made a change at half-time, and put Gravenberch into the right-back position, and brought Wirtz on, and they were much better in every department.

Closing down, passing, creating chances, bar the last few minutes where they made it difficult for themselves when Villareal came back into it, gave them a little scare but it's still a win, another positive for Liverpool but there is plenty to work on.

Phil Foden had a really good night.

For Phil to return into the side at the weekend and score an important goal against Ipswich and to step it up again this evening by scoring a hat-trick.

It was a lovely hat-trick. A lovely evening for him.

  6. Own goal puts Napoli two in frontpublished at 21:53 BST 20 October

    Napoli 4-2 Bodo/Glimt

That should do it for Napoli as Bodo/Glimt defender Odin Bjortuft, at the near post, can only slide the ball into his own net to move the Italians 4-2 ahead.

That is that. A first goal in Manchester City blue for Elliot Anderson and one for the magician that is Rayan Cherki.

Rio in a class of his own for Liverpool. The whole team is playing better second half he's been the only consistent one from start to finish. Wonderful stuff.

    Fabian Ruiz (Paris St-Germain)

Four for the European champions. Achraf Hakimi fizzes in a cross from the left, Fabian Ruiz is free at the back post and has the straight-forward task of knocking it into an empty net.

  13. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:49 BST 20 October

    Liverpool 4-3 Villarreal

There's a bit of an anxious feeling around Anfield now as three minutes have been added on at the end of this one.

    Just one goal in it.

  14. 'It's such a clever finish'published at 21:47 BST 20 October

    Liverpool 4-3 Villarreal

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on Amazon Prime

The run from Perez in behind, and he's not offside, and he dinks it really, really well to the far post for Oluwaseyi, who sticks it away with a left-footed volley.

It's such a clever finish, and a warning to Liverpool.

Liverpool are loving these Champions League thrillers.

A 6-3 win last week and now it's currently 4-3.

  16. Postpublished at 21:47 BST 20 October

    Man City 5-1 AEK Athens

Mijat Gacinovic intercepts the ball in his own half and spots Gianluigi Donnarumma off his line so he goes for goal.

Why not, I suppose, but his effort is way off target.

  17. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 4-3 Villarrealpublished at 21:45 BST 20 October

    Tani Oluwaseyi (87 mins)

    Back in it.

Liverpool can't be falling asleep like that as the ball is played to the back post where Tani Oluwaseyi is waiting to sidefoot a third for Villarreal.

    Tidy finish.

  18. Postpublished at 21:45 BST 20 October

    Liverpool 4-2 Villarreal

Lovely feet from Florian Wirtz to beat his man and find James McConnell. He dinks a ball to Cody Gakpo at the back stick - he tries the overhead kick but skies it.

The offside flag comes to his aid, though.

  19. goal

    GOAL - Paris St-Germain 3-2 Barcelonapublished at 81 mins

    Vitinha (Paris St-Germain)

A fifth goal of the night in Paris and PSG lead for a third time. Barcelona only half-clear a ball out of the penalty area and it drops to Vitinha and he hits a superb strike through a crowded penalty area to make it 3-2.

  20. 'Foden is answering his manager's questions'published at 21:43 BST 20 October

    Man City 5-1 AEK Athens

    Ashley Young
Former Aston Villa winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

When Phil Foden gets his opportunities tonight, he takes them with both hands. Getting a hattrick, his confidence is going to be sky high.

Enzo Maresca is going to be happy he hasn't had to bring on Haaland or Doku. He's been able to use the players that are in his squad.

This is no way a second-string but you've got to go out there and show the manager 'I should be playing'. Foden is answering his manager's questions.
