That was a big, big risk by Patel - and will that be one that he rues?

    R Patel c Higgins b Roland-Jones 16 (Leics 31-2 - target 232)

Oh my word, Patel knows he's got that one badly wrong.

He pulls Toby Roland-Jones straight to Ryan Higgins on the square leg boundary.

    Game on!

  4. Leics 31-1 - target 232published at 6 overs

    R Patel 16, Ahmed 0

Rehan Ahmed survives an LBW shout and it's a wicket maiden for Naavya Sharma although two leg-byes are scored.

With Alex Green being wicketless in the Middlesex innings Sharma has a chance of finishing as the top wicket taker in the competition.

    He needs one more.

    Well, how they needed that.

There's the breakthrough and it's Eskinazi, the danger man who goes.

    And there's the wicket.

Naavya Sharma pitches one up and Stephen Eskinazi tries to drive only to give a chest high chance to Josh de Caires who pouches it at second slip.

  8. Leics 29-0 - target 232published at 5 overs

    R Patel 16, Eskinazi 12

First quiet over of the innings bowled by Toby Roland-Jones.

Just a single run down to third by Stephen Eskinazi from it.

Middlesex need a few more of those... and some wickets

  9. Leics 28-0 - target 232published at 4 overs

    R Patel 16, Eskinazi 11

The Foxes are making full use of the powerplay. Rishi Patel lifts one from Naavya Sharma over the covers for four, making it seven from the over.

Leicestershire fans enjoying this as they chant their county's name.

During the interval they were letting the ECB know how they feel. Suffice to say they want their points back, and they're not asking politely.

This is a stunning start from the Foxes now.

  11. Leics 21-0 chasing 232published at 3 overs

    R Patel 12, Eskinazi 8

This isn't going to last long if Leicestershire keep going like this.

Two more boundaries scored by Rishi Patel off Toby Roland-Jones.

The first is an aerial pulled shot. For the second Patel leans back and hammers it through the covers.

You can hear with every run, every moment as that 232 is whittled down, the Leicestershire fans in fine voice.

  13. Leics 13-0 chasing 232published at 2 overs

    Eskinazi 8, R Patel 4

Leicestershire don't want to waste time here.

Two more boundaries from that over bowled by Naavya Sharma this time from Stephen Eskinazi.

The second shot is a lovely flick off his toes.

  14. Leics 5-0 chasing 232published at 1 over

    R Patel 4 Eskinazi 4

    Good start from Leicestershire.

Stephen Eskinazi lifts the last ball of Toby Roland-Jones' over onto the leg-side for four.

History suggests it's asking a lot for Middlesex to defend this.

Only twice in this year's tournament has a team successfully defended a lower score, Lancashire winning with 220 against Notts at Farington and Durham protecting 229 against Essex at Darlington.

Middlesex themselves did bowl Yorkshire out for 211 after scoring 246 at Lords.

You have to go back to 2015 for the last time a team won a final with such a modest first innings score, Gloucestershire victorious against Surrey after posting 220. That was at Lord's.

Hoping that Leicestershire win today and take the joy to Edgbaston with a walloping win, avoiding an unfair relegation & Somerset beat Surrey & finally win the Championship... but then I'm a dreamer.

We're back under way and there's an appeal first ball from Toby Roland-Jones.

But the ball surely hits Rishi Patel's pads too high to be out.
