  1. Lunch at the Ovalpublished at 12:33 BST 15 September

    Surrey v Glamorgan 93-4

Another tough morning with the bat for Glamorgan after being put in by Surrey at the start of a game between two sides needing points to secure their Division One places for next season.

Having been bowled out for 69 and 65 by Warwickshire last week, the Welsh county lost Zain ul-Hassan in only the fifth over of play.

Jack Hope-Bell (33) and Asa Tribe (31) steadied things for a while befopre both fell during an impressive five-over spell of 3-27 by Auqib Nabi.

Ben Kellaway drives Dan Worrall to the mid-off boundary to end a session which also saw the fox pay a prolonged visit to the Oval outfield before being chased off by groundstaff.

  2. Lunch at Grace Roadpublished at 12:32 BST 15 September

    Leicestershire v Hampshire 109-5

One more before the break. Ajaz Patel will bowl his left arm spin to Ben Mayes, who defends.

An arm ball is cut late to backward point. No run.

The last ball is tossed up and pushed defensively. Lunch.

Leicestershire had the better of that session, where three Hampshire batters fell without scoring.

A precious stand of 67 from the sixth wicket from the wreckage of 52-5 this morning.

Ben Brown is on 35 and Mayes has 34.

Leicestershire skipper Ian Holland was irresistible with 4-19 off eight overs of well-directed swing bowling.

  3. Lunch at St Lawrence Groundpublished at 12:32 BST 15 September

    Kent v Lancashire 73-0

A solid morning session for Lancashire after they were put into bat by promotion-chasing Kent.

No wickets in the first 28 overs and the visitors are 73 without loss - Michael Jones 40 not out and Keaton Jennings unbeaten on 26.

Was it a good toss to lose for Lancashire? This is not what Kent skipper Daniel Bell-Drummond and his side would have hoped for when they won the coin flip.

  4. 50 runs

    Essex 85-7 v Warwickshire

    George BellImage source, Shutterstock

George Bell is doing a great job for Essex here.

His 40 from 49 balls is comfortably the best batting performance from his side and he is counter-attacking very well.

Essex lost three wickets without scoring leaving them on 33-7 earlier but Bell and Akhter have put on 50 together since then to add some much needed runs to their total.

It's still a low score of course but without their input it would have been infinitely worse.

  5. Postpublished at 12:25 BST 15 September

    Leicestershire v Hampshire 108-5

Four runs to Ben Mayes, clipping a leg side ball from Nathan Gilchrist in front of square.

He gets a single off the next ball to move on to 33.

  6. Lunch at Hovepublished at 12:25 BST 15 September

    Sussex v Notts 71-3

Umpires Mike Burns and David Millns come together... and it's not good news. The players are heading off for an early lunch.

It's very gloomy at Hove and the rain has just started. The covers are coming on.

The lunch break comes at a good time for Nottinghamshire in truth. After a solid start, the defending champions have been reduced from 47-0 to 71-3.

Sussex have bowled very well with a wicket apiece for Jaydev Unadkat, Sean Hunt and Tom Price to dismiss Notts' top three batters.

  7. Postpublished at 12:25 BST 15 September

    Surrey v Glamorgan 87-4

After 17 dot balls faced, Ben Kellaway is finally away at the Oval as he runs one from Dan Worrall down to third man for four.

The next delivery swings away from the bat and the right-hander is beaten.

  8. Postpublished at 12:24 BST 15 September

    Essex 72-7 v Warwickshire

Oooh almost a run out for Essex - now that would have summed up the morning if that had been out too.

Zaman Akhter could well have been gone had that been a direct hit but it's just off target from Manav Suthar and the Essex batter escapes.

There is never a good time to get run out but this is definitely not it if you're connected to Essex!

Akhter and Bell have actually doubled Essex's score since coming together but the good work was almost ruined then.

  9. Postpublished at 12:23 BST 15 September

    Kent v Lancashire 67-0

Just the 13 runs added for Lancashire in the past half an hour but crucially still no breakthrough for promotion-chasing Kent.

When Daniel Bell-Drummond won the toss and elected to field, he probably expected a few wickets by the 26th over... not to be so far for the hosts.

  10. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 12:23 BST 15 September

    Yorkshire 77-4 v Somerset

Given the (hopefully) passing shower that forced the players off a few minutes ago, the break has been called early.

Mayes dropped on 26published at 12:21 BST 15 September

    Leicestershire v Hampshire 101-5

Nathan Gilchrist gets one to straighten on Ben Mayes, who nearly pushes a catch to Rehan Ahmed, diving at backward point.

Not easy by any means. A half chance goes begging.

    Holden c Price b Kishore 41 (Glos v Middx 81-3)

Sai Kishore has made a big impression since joining Gloucestershire and there is the spinner's first wicket of this game.

Max Holden plays at one which goes straight on with the arm and edges to first slip, where Ollie Price takes a low catch.

Setback for Middlesex just a few minutes before lunch.

  14. Postpublished at 12:19 BST 15 September

    Leicestershire v Hampshire 101-5

Still three slips in for Nathan Gilchrist as Ben Mayes defends into the off side.

Ben Brown drives Josh Davey through extra cover for two to bring up the innings 100 in the 25th over.

The sixth wicket partnership is worth 59.

  15. Holland haunts Hants as they subside againpublished at 12:19 BST 15 September

Ian Holland has figures of 4-19 this morning

Kevan James, my colleague here, knows Hampshire, and the game, a lot better than me.

He's spoken about an intense lack of confidence among a young Hampshire batting line up, that has been very evident here.

All five dismissals have come from tentative prods, four caught at slip - most didn't need to be played at. They look like players fearing they will get out.

Ian Holand, who played eight seasons at Hampshire, has shown them what they are missing. Metronomic, consistent and accurate, he's just probed away outside off stump and got his reward.

  16. Gibbon breaks opening standpublished at 12:18 BST 15 September

    Durham 87-3 v Worcestershire

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham got off to a bright start after being put in by Worcestershire in CLS, but Ben Gibbon eventually broke the opening stand at 56 runs.

Alex Lees was on 40 when he edged to Reehan Edavalath at second slip at the end of the 16th over, and Will Rhodes and Ben McKinney have followed.

Durham won the second division title last Friday and will be presented with their trophy at the end of this one. They have just won six championship games in a row, which is a first for the club.

Another win would see them on 10 for the season, thus matching their best year when they won the first division title in 2013. Sixteen more points would also see them record their highest points haul, breaking the 245.5 they achived in 2013. That was a 16-game campaign compared to this year's 14.

It's bright and breezy in the North East. It's shorts an T-shirt weather in the North West Terrace, where the sun is shining. Different kettle of fish in the shade though.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:17 BST 15 September

    McCann c Simpson b Unadkat 4 (Sussex v Notts 65-3)

Freddie McCann never got going for Notts and now he's gone for just four.

McCann tries to get on the back foot and push away through the off-side from Jaydev Unadkat but can only succeed in feathering one through to John Simpson behind the stumps.

The top three batters for Notts are all gone.

What are Essex doing? What do their team talks consist of now? Are they actively seeking relegation?

    Nic, London

So deflating as an Essex fan. Funny to think that only 6 days of cricket ago, we were 171-3 and in control against Sussex. Since then 617-44 averaging 14 collectively. Not even sure a Leicestershire points deduction will save us

    Ed, London

The Warwickshire bowling unit has been sensational since the return of the CC. Ethan Bamber in particular has had a superb year and seems to improve every week - I wonder if he's on England's radar?

  20. Postpublished at 12:13 BST 15 September

    Leicestershire v Hampshire 96-5

A bit of luck from Ben Mayes, who edges just past Ajaz Patel second slip, who may have got a fingertip to it - for four runs.

Mayes is on 24 - and that's the 50 partnership with Ben Brown off 62 balls.

Hampshire rebuilding after a horrible start.
