    But the England captain fails to make contact and then looks towards the umpire, asking for a no-ball. Nothing doing though.

    This is Joe Root's sixth consecutive ODI innings reaching 50 or more.

    It's another milestone for Joe Root.

    The England great brings up his sixth consecutive ODI half-century.

    He does it by scooping Gurnoor Brar to the boundary before a single to reach the mark.

    This is the eighth time that England have reached 300 in an ODI with only two wickets or fewer.

    The only time they've ever done it against India, or on this ground, they were 337-2 and India won that game. It's all going to plan.

    @Jack Allum, 13:35, I totally agree. Someone like Brook, Buttler, and maybe even Jacks towards the end is what we need. India have a dangerous batting side (Kohli, Rohit), and on a pitch like this they will knock down the runs.
